Theadric Greyhood
|
Hood seems distracted by all the fun he's having. It's not certain whether he even sees the men.
"How do rocs do flying through explosions? Are they okay with fire?" the excited halfling asks.
Maximillian Arcos
|
"Yes, we merely want to ask him a few questions about a missing colleague." Maximillian adds in a civil tone.
Automatically aid Diplomacy with a +12 modifier, for a +2 to Vailis' roll.
Dylara Yssal
|
Dylara flinches from Theadric's remark. "No. BAD idea."
Thank Gozreh Melon only listens to me...
Theadric Greyhood
|
Seeing that the druid was upset by the thought of fire, Hood says "I won't take your sweet bird by any fires...but could another bird like this be trained so that maybe it even liked to fly through explosions in a spectacular manner!? That would be sick!!!"
Observing the others engaged in conversation, the halfling settles for circling the action above the street, waiting for something to happen.
Dylara Yssal
|
"I... guess that'd be possible...?" Dylara replies reluctantly.
"As long as no harm comes to the animal and you treat it well, you can probably teach it a lot of tricks."
Vanya Kaleth
|
Vanya moves back towards the others:"Whatever is going on here, let's not forget who these people are. One wrong move and they'll jump on us. And if by any chance they were to defeat us... then the best of our options would be death. So my advice is to stay sharp and if all hell breaks loose kill them quick" she whispers while smiling pleasantly.
Vailis
|
Vailis listens attentively for a reaction.
Sense motives: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 3
Maximillian Arcos
|
I noticed there's been no GM update for almost a week, is there something we are neglecting to do in character?
Dylara Yssal
|
I believe we're waiting for the GM to post a reply to Vailis's attempt to reason with the men. And I have an attack readied with Melon in case there's no reasoning to be done, so I figure we should be ready to move forward.
GM Baerlie
|
I somehow 'ignored' this thread, it was not in the list of active games any more. Strange thing...
The man who opened the door gestures the other two men to leave him alone. "I'm Greeves. What business are you talking about? What colleague are you lookin for and why do you ask me?" he asks, but he still does not invite you in.
Vailis thinks he's telling the truth.
Vanya Kaleth
|
Sometimes the boards get strange, for example they fail to update the counter on new posts, so you think no one has posted yet until you check anyway and find yourself 3 day behind in gameplay... so no biggie
Vanya's first instinct would be to butt in but then she thinks better of it deciding to let Vailis have his way.
"Let's see what happens now..." she muses to herself, ready to intervene if things get out of hand.
Vailis
|
"We are looking for Creeley Greeves as we think he knows where to find Emral Xarcious. We hope him for Emral to pay his debt in exchange and we will get where some kobolds are hiding in exchange. Do you know where Greeves is? We believe he was working here"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
I would say to intimidate if they don't start to cooperate
Maximillian Arcos
|
Maximillian stands back with his arms crossed, hoping that the man will be willing to cooperate in a civil manner.
Dylara Yssal
|
"If we pay, it'll just motivate them to kidnap more people for ransoms," Dylara says, and lets out a sharp whistle as she draws her longsword.
Melon the Roc
|
Melon hears Dylara's whistle and knows exactly what it means. She circles to the front of the building and dive-charges at the man in the door opening. (Either of the men if they're both in the door opening.)
Bite, High Ground, Charge: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 20 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
And of course Theadric gets to poke around with his lance during the dive-charge! :)
Vailis
|
"We do not have that money available, but we might reach a deal. Is there perhaps something you would like to have we can provide you? If you free him, the place we are taking him, he will probably find a way to repay you " Vailis is still talking when the combat starts.
Vanya Kaleth
|
Seems like we choose fighting but I'm not usure on how to proceed. Melon assaulted Greeves, I don't think we can reason with him anymore Vailis. Let's hope he has something inside his lair that tells us where Xarcious is
As Melon sweeps on the man Vanya leaps into action:"Things went too far, let's deal with this mess quickly and then we'll see what to do!"
Initiative roll: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Attack roll: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Moving near Greeves and attacking, Vanya will try to flank him, but I can't see him on the map
GM Baerlie
|
Actually, the two men left to the back of the building, as Greeves told them. Forgot to set up the tokens on the map, sorry!
Greeves listens to Vailis but his face grows stern when he sees the bird diving against him. He draws his greataxe and calls for help.
Melon charges Greeves and hits him with her beak. Vanya moves up to Greeves and attacks, hitting him as well.

"Standard procedures," Dylara tells Vanya. "Knock them out, tie them up, patch them up, interrogate them with violence and threats."
Dylara shrugs. "That is, if we don't already find what we want inside."
Vailis

Vailis sighs and stepping to the side calls one of the Chelish devils to fight for him.
An augmented lemure appears south-east of Greeves and attacks!!

Also augmented summoning provides +4 Str and Con

Ooooh... nice flank! Good job Melon! :P
Thanks to Melon getting behind Greeves Vanya has the perfect chance to make use of her skills as she slashes with both Kukris at Greeves' throat!

GM Baerlie
|
not sure if Sam is still with us, I will delay him
Vailis summons a lemure which attacks right away, hitting Greeves with both claws. Melon distracts Greeves and Vanya uses her chance to defeat Greeves. The man drops to the floor, unconscious.
From the back of the building you hear foot steps, a door flies open and one of Greeves' companions appears again. He rushes through the room but when he sees his employer lying in the dust he drops his sword and raises his arms.

Maximillian moves into the building while drawing his greatsword. He then touches Greeves on the shoulder and heals him slightly to prevent the man from dying. "There's no need for further violence."
Lay on Hands on Greeves: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
Melon the Roc
|
I can't command Melon while Dylara's not up. It requires a free action on Dylara's turn to issue a command. Thus Melon'll continue to follow her last command, for now, which is to attack.
Melon charges past the unarmed man and up to the dog, seeing the latter as a bigger threat. She attacks from the air, flying just five feet above the floor.
Bite, High Ground, Charge: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 11 Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
+2 to Theadric's readied attack roll, if it triggers. (From charging.)

"I'll call my feathered friend back once everyone's surrendered," Dylara announces, "and you keep that dog in check."
GM Baerlie
|
Sam enteres the room and demands the thugs to lay down their weapons. Max heals Greeves who opens his eyes. "That was a mighty blow, who the hell are you?" Melon charges the dog and stays hovering above the dog after the missed attack.
Theadric would hit if he attacks the dog, but the damage would not drop the animal.
Another thug enters the room from the back, dropping his weapon when he sees Greeves down and his compaion on the floor, face in the dust. "Stop, Bonebag! Let them go!"

Hood relaxes a bit as it appears the men will surrender.
"It must have been the roc...who would want to fight one of these with a halfling on its back?" he says.
I think we can safely assume no one will press this combat...let's take their weapons.
Maximillian Arcos
|
"Now, call off your men and dog and tell us where to find Xarcious." Maximillian commands with his greatsword trained on Greeves.
Dylara Yssal
|
"Melon, down!" Dylara commands when she sees the other enemy surrender and keep the dog in check.
Melon the Roc
|
Melon drops herself on the large chair she was hovering above. "Prrrowaaa!"
She then starts grooming the feathers she can still reach easily with Theadric on her back.
GM Baerlie
|
I agree, I was just waiting for Dylara to call Melon back as the bird was the last one fighting.
Dylara commands Melon to stop fighting.
combat over
Maximillian asks Greeves where to find Xarcious and the man points at the double door to the east. "In the office." he says. "Good luck!" he says with an evil smile.
Vanya Kaleth
|
Vanya nods to Greeves:"There better better be no surprises waiting for us inside there, Greeves. Consider carefully. Your life depends on what happens next".
After she's finished with Greeves, Ashara pulls Maximilian apart and whispers:"Make sure he doesn't escape. I'll go check inside. If there's any information on Xarcious I'll find it"
Then Vanya moves inside, weapons on the ready.

"You know that the law is on my side, woman. I made you an offer and you started a fight. If you are going to kill me, you will find your butts locked up in a prison!" Greeves answers.
A man is being held prisoner in the former watch captain’s office, where he lies on a makeshift bed atop the room’s lone desk. The middle-aged Taldan has contracted a disease and is very close to death. On top of this, he’s been beaten pretty badly. Xarcious is unconscious but seems to be stable.
Vanya Kaleth

Vanya laughs at Greeves words:"That's if they even found your body... and I bet no one is going to look to hard for you anyway, I dare say a few people may even feel glad..."
Bluff check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Vanya tries to gently rouse the Taldan:"Hey there... are you Xarcious? We are bringing you out of here, don't worry!"
Maximillian Arcos
|
Maximillian nods in agreement to Vanya's plan, although his expression would suggest he's skeptical of her intentions for whatever reason.
"There are laws that forbid kidnapping. I don't believe you can hold debtors against their will, sir." The aasimar paladin says sternly to Greeves, "What did you exactly hope to accomplish here? It would appear on the surface that there is far more going on than what you have said."

Vailis approaches the slave and tries to do his best to stop the disease.
