Except maybe wanting to present what a jerk he is, or to promote oneself on wave of homophobic hatred in relation to more famous name. Or both. The farther along LGBT equality and acceptance seems to progress in society, the more vociferous and more insistent those opposed to it seem to get.
Sad but true, though I am afraid something like this is unavoidable - the farher along acceptance gets, the smaller the group of non accepting people gets. Those who simply hadn't given the issue much thought, those who simply rejected LGBT people/movement because of what they have been taught when they were younger get fewer. Some die off, some learn, some just shut up and let the matter go (as long as they don't see it, it doesn't exist...), so the hardcore haters make a bigger part of the opposition (and at the same time feel more threatened because the mainstream is slowly turning away from their views).
So, let us all hope that soon the only ones left on their side will be the vociferous and obnoxious ;-)

Oct. 11 is my Birthday!
I recently had a near break up with one of my closest friends, a Bi Woman in an emotionally abusive relationship. It was mostly my fault, but I don't know. She likes to talk to me when she is not sure about what to do, and I tell her I am all kinds of wrong to be anyone giving anyone else advice, but recently I sort of lost it and told her she deserves better, and that she should get away from that guy right now, but then I felt bad for sticking my nose where it didn't belong

It's really just FF4 OT3 stuff after falling in with the wrong crowd getting back into the thick of that fandom. It's gonna be going up on tumblr and eventually AO3; most of it wouldn't be inappropriate here, but I don't think the audience for it is here either..
But something Pathfinder specific?

Well great. Now it's relevant to the forums and inappropriate. Damn. It keeps happening.

Today I am searching my feminine side by wearing woman's shoes...
Well, not really. It became quite cold today and half an inch of distance between the floor and soles of my feet is very helpful; I don't have slippers, I am too lazy to go buy a pair and the only suitable thing that I could find (short of putting on my boots) were mom's old shoes...

Don't be silly. None of those characters are necromancers.

Tried jumping in right away with heavier stilts and I thought my legs were going to explode.

Pride released in the UK 2 weeks ago.
I don't know if it's likely to be available outside the UK, the history is very UK-specific. The miner's strike in 1984 was incredibly divisive in the UK, and even now, thirty years on, there's bitterness. I never heard about a "Gays and Lesbians support the miners" group at the time though

Today, Slate.com linked to a video version of Richard Blanco's poem "Until We Could."
I found it so moving that it brought tears to my eyes. (Which was a little bit of a problem because I watched it at work...)
Enjoy!

I will take your word for it. As I am at work now, I'd prefer not to sob at my desk. :)

Thanks all! As an added bonus, it looks like I'll legally acquire my new name on Halloween.
But it's been a huge relief to finally be on the final approach for this. Felt more freeing than I expected, actually, since the only time I or anyone still uses my old name is for bills and the like. Stopped using my old name this past December.
Definitely a good feeling, and highly recommended.

And the Supreme Court rejects appeals on same-sex marriage rulings.
Same-sex marriage is now legal in Wisconsin, Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah and Virginia.
One hour before that Monday morning, Dane County Clerk Scott McDonell had no comment on when he might begin issuing licenses, saying he needed a little time to work out the implications of the order.
But just minutes later, McDonell, a Democrat and strong supporter of same sex unions, said he was ready.
"We're a go here," he said. "If someone walked in here right now, I'd issue one."
Milwaukee County Clerk Joe Czarnezki said he would also begin issuing licenses right away and expects some rush of applicants.
"Everyone is comfortable that (Wisconsin's) ban on same-sex marriages is unconstitutional," he said.
The Supreme Court's orders mean same-sex marriage now is legal in 30 states and the District of Columbia, according to The Associated Press. But the justices did not address the question of whether same-sex marriages should be legal in the rest of the country or whether lower federal courts were correct in striking down the bans on those unions in states like Wisconsin.
Congrats to anyone in those states wanting to get married, and most especially to those who did and have been in legal limbo (like a number of people in Wisconsin).
Edit to add: That puts it at 30 states and D.C. where same-sex marriage is legal.
Edit to add: Looks like that 30 partly comes from 6 states (West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas) that have appeals pending in district courts. But it looks likely that today's action by the Supreme Court will lead to marriage getting legalized there as well. Good, brief summary of this in the Guardian's article on the subject.
In the meantime, officially, we're at 24 states, with 6 more likely.

In related news, a lesbian judge in Texas is refusing to perform marriages for straight couples. (CW for cissexist and essentialist language, but the headline has the gist of it).
