@Vendle Mighty Max, I believe.
Let's also not forget the crummy Toxic Avengers cartoon, which had as its theme song, and I quote "We're the Tox-ic Av-en-gers." repeated over and over.
Toxic Crusaders, I think you mean :) And yes, that was one of the most annoying theme songs ever, and now it's stuck in my head.

            Tranzor Z.
Ahh...Mazinger Z.
Tranzor Z was the American name, but yeah that was a good one.
Force Five, another super robot series, though it technically got started in the late 70s and continued into the early 80s.
Leo The Lion.
Honey Honey's Wonderful Adventures, or simply Honey Honey - technically a shojen (girl) series, I didn't know that at the time when I watched it on CBN (along with Leo The Lion) not that it matters really as the show was just fun to watch.
Spiral Zone - I barely remember this show but what little I do recall is that it seemed like GI Joe, but with post apocalyptic overtones.
We should compile a list of all the shows that have been named so far to avoid repeats (like I did with Spiral Zone, Pac-Man, and Blackstar.

It's not from the 80's but it's pretty obscure. (although you can find it on Netflix)

- Inhumanoids
- Thunderbirds 2086 (I believe it aired on Showtime rather than prime time, but I enjoyed it nonetheless...) (^-^)

From Wikipedia:
Super Space Theater
In 1981, many of Gerry Anderson's series were re-edited into TV movies in North America. These were aired on TV under the series title Super Space Theater. Among these was Thunderbirds, with three TV films airing on American television in 1981. They were heavily edited, with new title and credit sequences, some scenes being removed for length and the insertion of extra incidental music throughout. These have not been seen on TV since, although they have been released on home video. The rights issues of these releases also prevented the episodes being released in their original form on VHS video until the 1990s.
Countdown to Disaster (featuring the episodes "Terror in New York City" and "Atlantic Inferno")
Thunderbirds in Outer Space (featuring the episodes "Sun Probe" and "Ricochet")
Thunderbirds to the Rescue (featuring the episodes "Trapped in the Sky" and "Operation Crash-Dive")

I have an open question for anyone who remembers a very obscure cartoon:
It must have been the late 80's early 90's (about the time TMNT were on the air) and a short lived TV series aired (in NY at least) but I cannot remember the name nor can I find anyone who does.
It's a little hazy but the series took place in, perhaps the future, after some cataclysm where now at least part of the world lives like savages. There's this very young (maybe teen aged) son of a tribal leader who has a circular blade he can throw and will come back to him.
One day he meets this girl who looks liked she's from a different show, something Sci Fi, turns out she lives in a city that floats in the sky.
There's some bad guy or guys and sky-cycles and the girl, who of course is some sort of princess, turned out her father knew of the land dwellers and might have some connection to them.
I think the young man was kind of tan and blonde but that's may not be the case. I think he might have some kind of shield where the circle blade thing connects to and the shield might even allow him to glide or fly... It's been driving me crazy trying to remember this show.
I think I ended up watching it because it was in place of TMNT for a few weeks, possibly on WPIX, but I'm not sure of those dets.
If ANYONE can identify this show or even give more details I'd have to say you might just have the most obscure TV cartoon on this list and it would make my day!
THANK YOU

            Space Ghost
Teen Force
Herculoids
Folks to tend to reference the 60's version, but I'm referring to the 80's version under the name Space Stars. Teen Force was really the 60's Galaxy Trio under a different name. And before they turned him into a talk-show parody, Space Ghost was actually pretty good under this version.
I think this one never made it past a one-shot pilot, but I remember it.
Was probably already mentioned, but I have to add that this one probably stuck with me for it's use of 80's guitar rock themes and musical sequences. I think that was as funny as the 'space cowboys' sci-fi theme.
Does 'Conan the Adventurer' or 'Highlander: The Animated Series' count, or is that too 90's? Two series where sword-wielding characters never stabbed or cut anyone as far as I can tell.

It's funny how things work out.
I was reading through this thread, on a website that sprang from the legacy of D&D, and was reminded of Visionaries, which I had watched as a kid and long since forgotten.
I go to Youtube and find this episode:

Who wrote the episode according to the opening credits? None other than Flint Dille, the grandson of the creator of Buck Rogers, good friend of Gary Gygax and the Gygax family, and brother to Lorraine "Destroyer of RPG Companies" Williams.
Synchronicity.

I remember a cartoon in the 80's called Goldie Gold & Action Jack. Goldie was Richie Rich kinda wealthy and flew around in a plane with a glass ceiling and a olympic swimming pool. The plane might have been gold...I can't recall. She had a few sidekids and traveled around solving mysteries or some such nonsense.
In one paticular episode goldie got information from a dude named "Hobo Joe". Joe was a toothless homless dude in a back alley. She did not give Hobo Joe any money for his info, she just gave him a hug. Joe seemed oddly ok with that.
The show was crazy even for a saturday morning that Mr T from Mr T and the T force punching a shark.
