I have $15 to purchase 3PP PDF product, what should I buy and WHY?

Product Discussion

I have the advantage to see a lot of 3PP products but not always able to purchase. But now I am interested in purchasing some 3PP that I normally might not pick up. I want to hear from the people that purchase 3PP products on what 3PP product I should pick up with my $15. I am open to anything from 3PP but make sure it is only PDF products only please.

That really depends on what kind of setting you want to run.

If you like Clockwork/Steampunk stuff check out the Zobeck stuff.

@Xaaon: I just want to hear what people think is good and why. I don't want to limit myself and I want to be open to what ever someone might suggest.

Liberty's Edge

I definitely recommend Tripod Games' A Fistful of Denarii. Tons of great nonmagical classes for a miniscule cost.

The "In The Company Of" series from Rite Publishing is a must-have. Evocative, great fluff, very interesting concepts, solid mechanics, and no typos!!

I think you already have Psionics Unleashed, so why not pick up Psionics Expanded? Then you'll be tempted to develop more psionics stuff of your own. :)

For 5 bucks you get Raging Swan's Cultists of Havra Zhoul. It is an awesome supplement that has enough in it to spawn a whole urban campaign. It deals with a cult, but in a very cool and unique way that initially portrays them as good guys. It features new feats, spells, magic items, monsters, and NPC write-ups.

If you are looking for something more player character orientated, 4 Winds Gaming lowered their PDF prices and I've really been enjoying the Luven Lightfinder Gear guide which features all sorts of new items, from weapons and armors to prosthetics to more mundane items.

Louis,

Well, if you don't mind a shameless plug, you can be a bad guy from 1st through 6th level for $10.

"Way of the Wicked: Knot of Thorns" is for sale here on paizo.com.

Everything from Raging Swan is insanely good.

Wow! Thanks! (But no pressure for the future, eh!?)

Your stuff is consistently of the highest quality. Whatever you're doing, however you're doing it, keep doing it.

I am almost always a GM for my group so my interests lie with resources that help make my job more interesting and easier. Therefore, lately, I would recommend Raging Swan GM resources. I have found them creative and super useful.

With that said, honestly, I will basically buy anything from RiP, SGG, and Raging Swan without any trouble at all. Just depends on what my game needs. I should also mention that HHG and Purple Duck are climbing up towards this list as well.

One more thing, I am really excited at the overall quality of the Pathfinder 3PPs. You almost cannot go wrong!

Most of my purchasing recently is focused on things that will help me run my Kingmaker campaign such as Jon Brazer's Book of the River Nations which is indispensable, Dreamscarred newest book Master of Battle, Call to Arms: Archer's Arsenal (Fat Goblin Games). Genius Guide to Feats of Multiclassing (I play a ranger/cleric) by SGG and Raging Swan's So What's the Hoard Like, Anyway?

And curiosities such as Headless Hydra's The Ruins module (which is free), Party of 1: Kalgor Bloodhammer by Open Design and Classifieds: Pyromancer (Fat Goblin Games).

I'll go with the Raging Swan comments. High quality stuff.

Retribution is a very cool 'mystery in an abbey' with some combat as well, and the Lonely Coast is a free campaign setting. You've got a strong start for less than $8.00.

Shadow Lodge

The Spire of Iron and Crystal from Frog God Games

Old school fun. The only improvement would be if they had been able to use the original cover.

Liberty's Edge

I have absolutely no idea. There is so much good stuff that, without knowing what you like, I don't know what to recommend. Anything from DSP, SGG, Rite, RSP, and OD all seem to be good bets.

I just picked up Raging Swan's Shadowed Keep of the Borderlands and so far, I have to say it is really cool. A level one to six adventure that is pretty well done. Can't wait to run it tonight.

Heck, Louis, if there's something specific from SGG you'd really like to see drop me a line and I'll hook you up with a copy. :)

If you're going to hit Owen up for a free PDF and want more Base Classes, I'd recommend:

A) Time Thief, if you're into Prince of Persia stuff.
B) Godling. Everything Godling. Such an awesome class.
C) Dragonrider. Getting a dragon companion is pretty nifty.

If I had to recommend only one to you, I'd go for the three Godling PDFs first. That's my favorite class of the three I listed.

Luckbringer from Rite Publishing and Time Thief from Super Genius Games are a blast I highly recommend them. I've enjoyed my Time Thief very much and that is what role playing is about. I can't wait to play my Halfling Luckbringer he is going to be a blast to play.

I think SGG has a great line of Bullet Points. They are a buck each and are great additions to the game. The Leadership one is probably my favorite so far but I love the dragonhide armors a lot as well.

Shadow Lodge

If you are looking for an inexpensive, yet very entertaining product, our Infamous Adversaries: Raxath'Viz, the Creeping Rot is a winner. It has gotten rave reviews and your players will not be expecting so vile of a kobold to challenge their party. The storyline and hooks within could also easily be converted into an adventure, and it comes with a wealth of wicked new content.

Available here for only $2.99.

I agree it was a very good read.

Owen beat me to the recommendation. I was going to say, "Super Genius Games. Nuff' said."

So after everyone comments, I came up with this list:

- Cultists of Havra Zhoul
- Crypt of the Sun Lord
- Party of 1: Kalgor Bloodhammer and the Ghouls Through the Breach (solo adventure)
- Call to Arms: Archer's Arsenal
- The Eleusinian Covenant Preview
- Grave Undertakings: The Ship of Fools [Preview]
- Way of the Wicked Free Preview: Prison Break!
- #1 With a Bullet Point: 8 Dragonrider Feats
- #1 With a Bullet Point: 6 Godling Feats
- Legendary Classes: The Rook [PFRPG]

I think this is a good mix or free and for sale products. Thanks for everyone's comment on this.

Thanks Louis! I hope you enjoy Cultists of Havra Zhoul. I think Pierre did a cracking job with it.
