I could have sworn Song of the South was available on one of the Disney Anthology/ Collections thingies... though I can understand why Disney would not want that to come out.
Also, Frankenweinie is an obscure short done by Burton while he was still at Disney.
The Original Nutty Proffesor
Swiss Family Robinson
20,000 Leagures Under the Sea
Callous Jack

Love Darby O'Gill and the Little People
At least they released "The Black Cauldren" on DVD, "Make Mine Music" and "Song of the South" have not.
The "The Gnome Mobile"(has the same two kids from Marry Poppins), "Babes in Toyland"(1960's and 1980's versions), and "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"
Make Mine Music is on dvd(or was), i bought it for my Disney-obsessed wife.
Here's a list of disney movies, many are verrrrry obscure.

Kidnapped!: "Ah, Laddie, but there are Highland gentlemen, and there are Highland gentlemen. And being a lowlander, you cannot be expected to tell the one from the other!"
The Light in the Forest: "Apologize to your Uncle Wilcy at once!"
"No! I will KILL Uncle Wilcy!"
Davey Crockett and the River Pirates: "Now you'll have to excuse me -- you're cutting into my drinking time."

How about their family/comedy westerns like Hot Lead and Cold Feet, The Apple Dumpling Gang, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again or their modern-day equivalents like The North Avenue Irregulars? Seems like we used to watch those on old-school movie projectors at church overnights or family nights, though I'm pretty sure I saw some of them at the drive-in.

I'm surprised to hear a lot of these movies described as "obscure". I'm sure I've seen very few movies compared to the average person, but I remember seeing a lot of these on TV back in my childhood (the late 70s or early 80s). I watched Pete's Dragon in the theater several years after its initial release. Even in the late 80s, I remember seeing The Apple Dumpling Gang and 20000 Leagues Under the Sea on TV, and seeing the movie 20000 Leagues being parodied on Saturday Night Live. I remember a lot of people talking about Something Wicked This Way Comes when it was being shown on TV, although I caught only a few minutes of it.
And if you regard the 1980s as ancient history, then I'll get more recent. I hear mention of The Black Cauldron now and then, and once saw it being sold in a store recently. People refer to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Swiss Family Robinson sometimes - more often the movies than the books on which they were based, I'm sure.
And I had never heard of The Gnome-Mobile... until I saw the DVD on the shelves of a public library not two weeks ago.
I'm sure that these Disney movies are far better known today than the average movies of the same time periods.

I'll vote for The Black Cauldron as most obscure disney movie ever. Seriously, it seemed to vanish from the face of the earth. I'm not entirely sure that it's not an urban legend.
Shown on frequent ocassions on Disney Cinemagic here in the UK.
My nominations would be 'Rob Roy' starring Richard Todd (which I remember seeing when I was 6 or 7 and have not seen since)..or 'The Fighting Prince of Donegal' with David Hemmings (which I also saw aged 6 or 7)

A friend of mine's got Charlie, the Lonesome Cougar, on DVD.
With a name like that, I'm kind of disappointed it isn't a porno...
...maybe it's time for another Disney remake.

If you're going to discuss obscure Disney items, you can't leave out
Education for Death: The Making of the Nazi
or
Der Fuehrer's FaceOther than Song of the South, I don't think are two more buried pieces Disney would like to pretend they were never part of.
From Wiki:
Der Fuehrer's Face won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 15th Academy Awards. It was the only Donald Duck film to receive the honor, although eight other films were also nominated.[4] In 1994, it was voted #22 of "the 50 Greatest Cartoons" of all time by members of the animation field.| KTFish7 |
Yeah, am fully aware of all of that. Am also aware that it's listed within several collections of banned cartoons, although now reading through the wiki I see they did in fact finally release it for sale.
Was speaking from previous knowledge, obviously haven't looked it up in awhile, so my info was outdated.

I'm surprised this isn't up there yet but The Great Mouse Detective. Nothing like a good Sherlock Holmes knock off.
Got that for my 3 year old who loves quoting it verbatim. Warning should you ever encounter Don't use the word bat unless you know the entire exchange between Basil and the little girl he will expect you to act out the scene with him.
