Hi, I’m checking to see if anyone is interested in playing this Game concept of mine.
Game Idea – Cowboys vs. Monsters
Just after the Union defeat of the CSA Reverend Mordecai Chambliss sacrifices 1000 slaves to enact an ancient and horrific ritual that “Will forever keep the rightful lands of the great dominion of Texas from the unclean hands of the Northern aggressors.”
The ritual rips the US southwest and northern Mexico from our world and slams it onto a world filled with magic and monstrous evil. The former earth lands are quickly divided between the CSA, USA and Mexican armies. Free and runaway slaves head west and join up with the native Indian tribes, the Pueblo, Hopi, Zuni, Navajo and Apache.
The surrounding lands are filled with monsters and their evil overlords, all of whom descend on the new lands looking to conquer its great riches.
The player characters class choices are a variant of the Gunslinger class or a variant of cleric or witch.
Gunslinger Variants include;
USA/CSA/Mexican infantryman
Buffalo soldier
Bandito
Indian scout
Indian Brave
Cavalry
Once again I’m just checking for interest. Most of the variants need to made and the setting needs some more work also.
I think the regular variants of Gunslinger are ok. Then you also have Trophy Hunter Ranger, Holy Gun, and other stuff. You're trying to make a whole new sub-system which is a difficult task. I've tried.
The variations I'm thinking of are just in skill sets and starting weaponry. Maybe a minor change or two in the deeds they can preform. I'm only planing for a minor re-skinning for each variant not an major overhaul to the class.
I'd be very interested in playing a Ninja in this campaign (it could work! really!)
I'm thinking an exile from the orient who did something on the orders of a respected family member, which turned out to be the wrong call. Caught between continuing his mission (against his morality) and confronting the family member (a stain on family honor), he decided instead to leave, avoiding both.
He found himself working as a digger/dynamiter on the trans-atlantic railroad, but is becoming more and more upset with the treatment of his people at the hands of the white businessmen.
When the monster-cataclysm happens, it could have released something into a half-finished tunnel and slaughtered his crew before he could stop it. With this new threat, he finally decides to act.
This would be a more historically accurate ninja, not a black-pajamas type.

It does sound awesome, I have a Mysterious Stranger that could work well for this. I may post her specs later. Gun Tech is Civil War era, I take it, with Revolvers and Rifles?
Yep, I agree; it sounds like a cool game. Too bad the initial interest check was from January.

I now have the sudden urge to go watch Cowboys and Aliens.
I am 100% interested. Sounds like a lot of fun to be had.
