What is the magic fang equivalent of 'Oil of magic weapon'?

Rules Questions

A potion to quaff?
Special nail polish?
Toothpaste extraordinaire?

Grand Lodge

There isn't one, at least not in the rules text.

Potions and oils are almost the same thing - they're made in the same way, do the same thing, have the same crafting requirements, etc. The only differents is that potions are drunk while oils are smeared.

So you'll have either a potion of Magic Fang or an oil of Magic Fang, at the creator's choice.

Good luck rubbing oil on your big cat!

I never said it'd be practical (or safe) to use, just that the item can be made. ;)

This thread got me to wondering what would happen if we introduced "Oil of Olay" to the game. Would it give us a bonus to bull-fighting or a favored enemy bonus against minotaurs? What would happen if you rubbed it on your pet bull or a minotaur? :P

It would learn the secret of a younger looking ewe.

You wouldn't rub the oil on his pelt, just on the single natural attack that would be gaining the bonus. After all, each casting of magic fang only applies to one natural attack, so one claw of a cougar or horns of a bull (single gore attack) or tentacle of a tentacle monster, etc.

Guessing potions of magic fang would be the most convenient way to get it on the bite attack. Or with the potion, does the animal get to decide which natural attack it affects?

It could be an oil. You just apply it to the natural attack you'll use.

Pour it on the tiger's paw, dip a tentacle or tail in it, and for a bite, then you've basically got a vial of magic mouthwash. Just spit it out after you're done with it!

That bad pun deserves a facepalm.. lol.

I always figured Magic Fang would have to be a potion because potions target creatures and oils target objects. But, that might not be an actual rule.

Oil of CLW?

Oil of CLW?

Potions: "A character can carefully administer a potion to an unconscious creature as a full-round action, trickling the liquid down the creature's throat. Likewise, it takes a full-round action to apply an oil to an unconscious creature."
