Dino-vember week 1!

Homebrew and House Rules

Hey everyone, I just started Cold Dinosaur Games, and to start building interest I'm posting a dinosaur in the forums each week...

Unfortunately, response has been rather limited and I would still like some input on the monsters. Take a look, give it a try, and if you like it, please post! Whether its here or in the compatible projects forum, please let me know what you think!

This week the sample is Dilophosaurus. Its a low-level carnivore whose real danger lies in its venomous bite...

A large ambush predator, the Dilophosaurus prefers to strike and withdraw, allowing its paralyzing venom to do the work for it. Dilophosaurs typically reach approximately 20 ft in length, and weigh 1000 lbs or more.

Very nice ^_^. I think dinos could use a bit more attention.

Ditto

The only problem is finding excuses to use them. My favorite is in Libris Mortis. It's a template for prehistoric fossils animated with necromancery.

This thread will help me some. There are a few places in my setting that have dinosaurs. There are also some settlements that use dinosaurs as mounts and live stock.

Thank you for the support! The next dinosaur comes out on friday! Anything in particular people are looking for?

Scarab Sages

What about a herbivore? All the dinosaurs thus far seem to be focused on combat. I'd like to see one that is more of a buff/out-of-combat aide.

EDIT: Is it "an" herbivore? This is giving me a headache.

Good news everyone! Cold Dinosaur now has a facebook page! Like us and look for updates there as well! Prefer paizo? Thats OK! We'll post here too!

"Liked" and requested some HIGH CR critters. Thats the main thing lacking right now. once you pass CR 10 or so your kinda screwed.

Well I have to ask. Does anyone have requests for Friday's preview? I know we have at least two requests for High-CR, but most of the "real" dinosaurs wound up in the under 10 range. The big goal we had was to make this full of good drop-in monsters for extra adventure path encounters and for that 3-12 'sweet spot' many (according to what I've seen) seem to prefer, before high-level things get too crazy.

funny In my campain I wove them into the world(being a fantastic version of europe helps) europasaurus as a peasant beast of burden, allo and spinosaurus steeds for marids , humans, serpentfolk and efreeti etc but first of All : rename then (also the megafauna exept the mammoth often the translattion is a good start i.e. brontotherium-> thunderer

sometimes its the look
Indicothere -> Titan's horse
