Howdy Everyone

I was looking for a feat called Monkey Grip in the 3.5, But can not find anything in the PF books for a same kind of feat like Monkey Grip. Is there going be any feat like that. Or is there a Class special ability that do that?

Titan Mauler barbarian can wield two handers in one hand.

And anyone can use gargantuan one handed pistols.... :)

Phalanx soldier (fighter archetype in APG) can wield spears/polearms in one hand.

Or you can ask your DM to use the compability rules, you know?

Liberty's Edge

If it isn't allowed currently, does anyone know if it'll come up in any of Paizo's future Pathfinder rule books?

Its un-likely. Otherwise thered be no point in the Titan mauler really and they seem to be avoiding it.

We just house rule that monkey grip is allowed as a feat.

Pathfinder is supposed to be compatible with 3.5, after all. We house rule that any 3.5 feats or spells are allowed subject to GM's discretion, and monkey grip is the only one that people keep coming back to. It hasn't caused any problems as of yet.

Mojo other than that one ability there really is much point in the titan mauler anyway. Unless you use the Developer's unoffical update.

Inappropriately Sized Firearms: Does this rule (page 136) allow a Medium or smaller creature to use larger firearms of any size?

The text of the rule is, "The size of a firearm never affects how many hands you need to use to shoot it." The intent of that rule was to prevent a Medium character from using a Small rifle as a one-handed pistol; it wasn’t intended to let a Medium character use a Large, Huge, Gargantuan, or Colossal two-handed firearm as a two-handed weapon. Just like with non-firearms, a creature cannot wield a weapon that’s far too big or small for it. Specifically in the case of firearms, a Medium character can’t use a two-handed firearm sized for a Large or larger creature, and a Small character can’t use a two-handed firearm sized for a Medium or larger creature.

Felt I should post this so that no one would see BNW's post in this necro and try to pull this on a GM.

Our group specifically disallows almost all 3.5 content and stick to the Pathfinder rules because 3.5 was insanely broken.

I know people will claim "monkey grip" wasn't one of the broken parts of 3.5, but I think it was and apparently the Paizo devs agree.

You don't need to dual wield two-handed weapons to be effective in combat. And if you just want it for the "flavor" then just fluff your one-handed weapons as two-handers so you get that awesome monster sword mojo going for you.

What about the other ability if using a weapon one size catagory higher with a reduced negetive ( IE a Gnome paladin wanting to weild a medium sized Great sword). To clarify I mean "normal" use not one handed and yes I am aware the sword js 2x+ his size; that is where the feat comes into play. As far as how would he walk around with it when notnin use I do a ring or bracers of storing that holds the sword until called.

Titan mauler was SUPPOSED to do this, but it got changed in the editing process to not actually do this at all.

There is the Titan Mauler and a Tiefling alternate racial trait. Both don't allow you large Greatswords sadly.

The Tiefling alternate trait is worded, functionally, the same as the Redcap special ability; the only difference is the Redcap is a Small Fey so it references Medium weapons while the Tiefling trait references Large weapons. But the Redcap's ability, otherwise, works the same exact way and it's pre-equipped with a Medium Scythe. Ergo, the Tiefling can wield a Large two-hander just fine.

Other options include feats like Thunder & Fang and Quarterstaff Master which allow you to treat a specific type of weapon (Earthbreaker and Quarterstaff, respectively), as a 1-h weapon. That scales up to a 2-h weapon if it's one size too big. Lastly, the Sunblade is a Bastard Sword that spoofs a Shortsword insofar as handling goes. The Shortsword is a light weapon so you can wield the Sunblade as if it were a light weapon (taking reduced penalties to TWF, wield it in only one hand, whatever). This means that a Sunblade one size too big would be wielded as a one-handed weapon and one two sizes too big would work as a two-hander. A Medium creature could wield a Huge Sunblade with -4 to attack as a 2-h weapon.

Nope. Titan mauler does nothing.

Tiefling works though.

We just house rule that Monkey grip is allowed. it was great my pally in CotCT was waling around with a Tower Shield and a Earth breaker.....he was bad ass.

Shadow Lodge

its called thunder and fang, it only works with an earth breaker though. and it doesn't really let you wield a larger sized weapon in one hand, but lets you wield a medium 2 handed weapon as if it were a 1 handed, pretty much to the same effect.

with impact you can make your one handed weapon hit for 3d6 base.

Dark Archive

is there an updated version of monkey grip?

Not to my knowledge.
