In general, if you think that a website or a person might be violating our IP or engaging in filesharing, you can email webmaster@paizo.com.I found a website that already has information from Ultimate Combat (a fair bit of the archetypes) and I don't know what to do about it. Should it be reported to the people in power, and if so how?
I don't want to publish the web address here, as that would only get them more traffic.
thanks!

Remember of course that most of Ultimate Combat is open content.

Out of curiosity, how long of a wait is required before info finds its way onto d20pfsrd, for example? I do purchase books and use online sources to preview material or to search at the table.
I might be wrong but I seem to recall them saying they normally put the stuff up about a month after it comes out. The open content part anyways.

D20pfsrd tends to wait a minimum of 2 weeks before posting OGL content (as has been requested by Paizo in the past with regards to the playtest material, which d20pfsrd has chosen to extend to all Paizo material).

Besides the simple logistics of putting it all up and linkified and what have you with volunteer labor that doesn't get stuff early (iirc).
So honestly the fact they get it done within 2 months is amazing.

Dude. You're wrong. In many ways. And on several levels.
Like, for example, Paizo is not going to sick Wild Hunt after whoever made the mistake. Or, that being silent is the right thing to do.Ruemere

From his description, I don't know that it's even a mistake. The book is published and the vast majority of the content is open. Yeah, d20pfsrd waits two weeks...but that's just a courtesy to Paizo. Legally, as long as they stick to the open content, I believe it's fair game on the release date.

Pffft, I've called the Wild Hunt on plenty of people. I'm sure if Paizo wishes to sound the great horn and call forth the most bloodthirsty of fey spirits, it would be a glorious sight to behold!

This is likely only a problem if they are actually posting or hosting a pdf of the actual book.
The content in Ultimate Combat is Open Game Content and can be reposted, so long as the license is followed, the second that content is published.
Just post the website and we can tell you whether or not you should care.

I was addressing that "prison" comment.
"Fair" in this context is also subject to several legal regulations, however that's beside the point - talking about border cases is a way to resolve potential problems in a peaceful, mature way.

i believe the term is "snitches get stitches"...
Though I find this sentiment repugnant in any context, we're talking about the issue of role-playing game piracy, not drug dealing or anything so glamorous. What false sense of honor criminal elements might derive from this kind of catch phrase certainly does not apply to the likes of us.
I don't think the "leaker" or whatever in this post has done anything wrong, but the way you've chosen to advocate behavior even if it were illegal is just crass.

The point of this thread, which I would like to reiterate, is that the OP found something and they *were not sure* if it violated our IP rights. In case it did, they did not want to give it excess traffic by posting the link on the forums. This is totally fine. We have people here who are uniquely qualified to be able to investigate and determine if action needs to be take or not. They know the in's and out's of our community use policy, our rights with regards to our IP as well as the OGL.
Additionally, it is likely far healthier for the community to handle these kinds of investigations over email, in private. The last things we want to see is someone post a link here and have everyone pile on with negative comments, only to find the usage is totally fine. Or to have a link posted that ends up with our forum users headed to a file sharing site. Or for another user, with perfectly good intentions declare the usage is okay or not okay, only to be mistaken.

This makes a lot of sense.

The great thing about not breaking the law: not having to worry about things that happen in prison.
Because no one has ever once been falsely convicted. Nor should society care what happens to criminals behind closed doors. Stole a car? Sure, you deserve to be anally r*ped. Authoritarian much?
On a related note, anyone know where I can go to get my empathy removed? :P
