Hmm, but without spoiling my back story, could you really see him giving up the savage lifestyle and adjusting himself to live like normal, dignified city folk? :p

I can't elaborate much more than that, but with how he acts and dresses he is very much savage. He's a true Barbarian where as mine is somewhat of an oddity. xD

DM Acid:
I wanted to mention that I updated Irina, including an avatar that is more Chelaxian. I expanded her origin and filled in the crunchy bits though I have a couple of things to still put down. I didn't see GP amounts in your initial request for applications so no gear. I don't know if it makes sense, but if you have a couple of us who are definite thumbs up for the Carrion Crown game it might make sense to make the OOC thread but perhaps that is too much to track too soon. Looking forward to this. Let me know if anything stands out or you have questions, thanks.

well speech is going to be first person because it's what is said. I just describe actions in 3rd. To me, it doesn't matter as long as we understand what's going on. :)

I agree 100%, he was a savage and proud of it, he felt city folk were soft. But he loved the entertainments of a city as opposed to the dour folk of his homeland. Until he took the throne (and after really) he was a savage to the day he died.

I do like his story. :p

Love the Arnie films of Conan as well. They may be old and can be considered as cheesy but they're great to watch. :D

I am sorry about the lack of posting. I'm in my friends wedding so I wont be able to put up the rest of my concept tomorrow

Well, been working on it, here's Jynerva's initial build if you're interested. Small updates to the backstory to include what we've discussed, and a description. I usually plan out the build to lvl 20, but as I have no solid idea of where the character will go, this is about what I know for sure...

all subject to change, of course :)

If you do need another character for Carrion crown, I have a monk I built for that AP ;)

I've been informed by my friend that he had computer trouble yesterday, so he was unable to post his finished application. He promises me that he'll post it once he gets home today. If he gets it posted sometime today, then I'll review it along with the others. Other than that though, APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.

I'm so sorry I disappeared for so long, I passed out around nine last night, and then didn't wake up until a few hours ago. Kind of frightening, my sleep schedule.

Shanosuke:
Don't worry about it, I'll allow you to refine your concept when you get back, if I haven't made my decision before then.

I don't think I'll be included the rules for chopping off limbs, as I don't want to complicate things too much (unless you all -really- want limbless characters at some point).

CaptainCortez:
If you can post at least a paragraph or two when doing first person, then I'll allow it, but if I find that the different posting styles confuse me to the point where it impacts my performance, then I'll ask you to change to 3rd person narrative, 1st person speech. How does that sound?

Hu5tru:
I would -love- to have your bard for Carrion Crown.

As it stands, these are the slots currently filled.

Council of Thieves
Captaincortez - Adina Correll, CG Human Urban Barbarian
halplm - Jynerva, N Elf Witch
Tilnar - Dracius Ludio, NG Half-Orc Cleric of Shelyn

Carrion Crown
Hu5tru - Imperia Sarini, LN Human Bard
PirateDevon - Irina Kayzeld, CG Human Ranger

Now, for character questions as promised!

Everstride:

Does Raz experience and unnatural 'urges' due to his heritage? If so, how does he deal with them?

Balodek:

What is Uriah's motivation for combating the corruption in Westcrown? If he simply believes in the cause of good, what made him that way?

Also, I'll begin on construction of the OCC threads now.

That sounds fair to me. :)

You're the one running it so I don't want to dictate how you do things, but thanks for being so considerate. :)

I'm just going to sort out my stats in a mo and just to let you know, I think you're 5 hours behind me in time, so if I don't post from 8pm onwards (your time) it'll be because I'm in bed, but I usually stay up to 1 or 2am, so that'll be 9 or 10 your time.

My time zone is GMT London btw. :)

DM Acid:
I probably shouldn't be looking, but the party Witch has a build of 23 points. Is that just to give her a better chance of survival? I don't meta game so it won't impact anything my character does, but I just wondered as a player.

If you guys have some kind of arrangement, that's fine by me, but just wanted to say something in case she/he made a mistake on his/her character build. :)

Acid:

I have created a profile for the bard, Anca Ravarath, I will spend some more time tonight editing and fleshing out the backstory to fit. I may alter some aspects of the character to make her less martial and more social, if that is what you would like, for instance, taking Noble Scion at first level, and working up to improved trip at 3rd level, but, I will work that out with you and the group, I suppose.

Ah, campaign trait I selected for it was On the Payroll, which I will definitely flesh out so it is understood why she would travel with a group of strangers in the campaign context. I have it all figured out, just... been a darn shame to be sitting on her for so long without any motivation to really do anything with her.

The OOC thread for Council of Thieves is up here! Please report there if I've listed you as having one of the CoT slots. Prepare yourself, my first post there is a doozy. >>

There are still 2-3 more slots left for CoT, which I will decide on either late tonight or tomorrow.

CaptainCortez:
I ran her stats through my point buy counter, and it seems to be 20. Remember that elves get a +2 to dex and Int, and a -2 to con. I'll double check with my own (horrible) math to make sure though.

acid:
Ah, my mistake then. I was probably thinking Half-Elves as I had in mind they only get one +2 to anything (same as humans). Ah well, better safe than sorry. :p

I'm just trying to work out a level 20 build now, so I won't be too long (hopefully).

Here are the feats and Rage Powers I'm going through to work out what I think will help Adina the most:

Feats:

Shatter Defenses
Enforcer
Improved Critical
Improved Initiative
Critical Focus
Staggering Critical
Stunning Critical
Shield of Swings
Raging Vitality
Improved Bull Rush
Greater Bull Rush
Defensive Combat Training
Dazzling Display
Furious Focus
Stunning Assault

Raging Brutality
You expend some of your rage to strike your opponents with a more powerful weapon blow.
Prerequisites: Str 13, rage class feature, Power Attack, base attack bonus +12.
Benefit: While raging and using Power Attack, you can spend 3 additional rounds of your rage as a swift action to add your Constitution bonus on damage rolls for melee attacks or thrown weapon attacks you make on your turn. If you are using the weapon two-handed, instead add 1-1/2 times your Constitution bonus. This bonus damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.

Raging Deathblow
Every killing blow gives you a surge of vitality, further fueling your rage.
Prerequisite: Greater rage class feature.
Benefit: While raging, whenever your attack reduces your opponent to –1 or fewer hit points, you gain 1 extra round of rage for that day. If that attack was a critical hit, you gain 1 additional extra round of rage for that day. Whenever you rest to renew your total number of rounds of rage per day, any extra rounds you still have from this feat are lost.

Raging Throw
You expend some of your rage to throw one opponent at another.
Prerequisites: Str 13, Con 13, rage class feature, Improved Bull Rush, Power Attack, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: While raging, when you attempt a bull rush combat maneuver, you can spend 1 additional round of your rage as a swift action to add your Constitution bonus on your combat maneuver check to the bull rush. Further, if you bull rush an opponent into a square another creature occupies or into a solid object, the opponent and the creature or object take bludgeoning damage equal to your Strength modifier + your Constitution modifier.

Gory Finish (Combat)
By drawing upon wells of savagery, you can slay your foe in creative and horrifyingly gruesome manners, intimidating nearby foes.
Prerequisites: Dazzling Display, Weapon Focus.
Benefit: When you use the attack action, you can use a weapon with which you have Weapon Focus to make a single attack at your highest base attack bonus. If you reduce your target to negative hit points, you can
spend a swift action to make an Intimidate check to demoralize all foes.

Hammer the Gap (Combat)
You repeatedly strike the same location, causing increasing amounts of damage.
Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: When you take a full-attack action, each consecutive hit against the same opponent deals extra damage equal to the number of previous consecutive hits you have made against that opponent this turn. This damage is multiplied on a critical hit.

Quick Bull Rush (Combat)
You can barrel into your opponent and follow this with an attack.
Prerequisites: Str 13, Improved Bull Rush, Power Attack, base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: On your turn, you can perform a single bull rush combat maneuver in place of one of your melee attacks. You must choose the melee attack with the highest base attack bonus to make the bull rush.

Rage Powers:

Brawler: While raging, the barbarian is treated as if she has Improved Unarmed Strike. If she already has the feat, her unarmed strikes deal 1d6 points of damage (1d4 if she is Small).

Come and Get Me (Ex): While raging, as a free action the barbarian may leave herself open to attack while preparing devastating counterattacks. Enemies gain a +4 bonus on attack and damage rolls against the barbarian until the beginning of her next turn, but every attack against the barbarian provokes an attack of opportunity from her, which is resolved prior to resolving each enemy attack. A barbarian must be at least 12th level to select this rage power.

Fearless Rage (Ex): While raging, the barbarian is immune to the shaken and frightened conditions. A barbarian must be at least 12th level before selecting this rage power.

Flesh Wound (Ex): Once per rage, the barbarian can try to avoid serious harm from an attack. The barbarian must make a Fortitude save with a DC equal to the damage that would be dealt by the attack. The barbarian's armor check penalty applies on this saving throw. If the save succeeds, the barbarian takes half damage from the attack and the damage is nonlethal. The barbarian must elect to use this ability after the attack roll is made, but before the damage is rolled. A barbarian must be at least 10th level to select this rage power.

Ground Breaker (Ex): Once per rage, the barbarian can attack the floor around her as a standard action. This attack automatically hits and deals damage normally. If the barbarian manages to deal more damage than the floor's hardness, the space she occupies and all of the squares adjacent to her become difficult terrain. Creatures in these squares, except the barbarian, must make a DC 15 Reflex save or be knocked prone. A barbarian must be at least 6th level to select this rage power.

Guarded Life (Ex): While raging, if the barbarian is reduced below 0 hit points, 1 hit point of lethal damage per barbarian level is converted to nonlethal damage. If the barbarian is at negative hit points due to lethal damage, she immediately stabilizes.

Guarded Stance (Ex): The barbarian gains a +1 dodge bonus to her Armor Class against melee attacks for a number of rounds equal to the barbarian's current Constitution modifier (minimum 1). This bonus increases by +1 for every 6 levels the barbarian has attained. Activating this ability is a move action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity.

Increased Damage Reduction (Ex): The barbarian's damage reduction increases by 1/—. This increase is always active while the barbarian is raging. A barbarian can select this rage power up to three times. Its effects stack. A barbarian must be at least 8th level before selecting this rage power.

Intimidating Glare (Ex): The barbarian can make an Intimidate check against one adjacent foe as a move action. If the barbarian successfully demoralizes her opponent, the foe is shaken for 1d4 rounds + 1 round for every 5 points by which the barbarian's check exceeds the DC.

Knockback (Ex): Once per round, the barbarian can make a bull rush attempt against one target in place of a melee attack. If successful, the target takes damage equal to the barbarian's Strength modifier and is moved back as normal. The barbarian does not need to move with the target if successful. This does not provoke an attack of opportunity.

Mighty Swing (Ex): The barbarian automatically confirms a critical hit. This power is used as an immediate action once a critical threat has been determined. A barbarian must be at least 12th level before selecting this power. This power can only be used once per rage.

Powerful Blow (Ex): The barbarian gains a +1 bonus on a single damage roll. This bonus increases by +1 for every 4 levels the barbarian has attained. This power is used as a swift action before the roll to hit is made. This power can only be used once per rage.

Raging Leaper (Ex): When raging, the barbarian adds her level as an enhancement bonus on all Acrobatics skill checks made to jump. When making a jump in this way, the barbarian is always considered to have a running start.

Renewed Vigor (Ex): As a standard action, the barbarian heals 1d8 points of damage + her Constitution modifier. For every four levels the barbarian has attained above 4th, this amount of damage healed increases by 1d8, to a maximum of 5d8 at 20th level. A barbarian must be at least 4th level before selecting this power. This power can be used only once per day and only while raging.

Strength Surge (Ex): The barbarian adds her barbarian level on one Strength check or combat maneuver check, or to her Combat Maneuver Defense when an opponent attempts a maneuver against her. This power is used as an immediate action. This power can only be used once per rage.

Surprise Accuracy (Ex): The barbarian gains a +1 morale bonus on one attack roll. This bonus increases by +1 for every 4 levels the barbarian has attained. This power is used as a swift action before the roll to hit is made. This power can only be used once per rage.

Swift Foot (Ex): The barbarian gains a 5-foot enhancement bonus to her speed. This increase is always active while the barbarian is raging. A barbarian can select this rage power up to three times. Its effects stack.

Terrifying Howl (Ex): The barbarian unleashes a terrifying howl as a standard action. All shaken enemies within 30 feet must make a Will save (DC equal to 10 + 1/2 the barbarian's level + the barbarian's Strength modifier) or be panicked for 1d4+1 rounds. Once an enemy has made a save versus terrifying howl (successful or not), it is immune to this power for 24 hours. A barbarian must have the intimidating glare rage power to select this rage power. A barbarian must be at least 8th level before selecting this power.

Unexpected Strike (Ex): The barbarian can make an attack of opportunity against a foe that moves into any square threatened by the barbarian, regardless of whether or not that movement would normally provoke an attack of opportunity. This power can only be used once per rage. A barbarian must be at least 8th level before selecting this power.

Lots of deductions to make!

My primary focus is with her low AC, I want her to have Damage Reduction which if I use 3 Rage Power Slots up for and manage to afford Adamantine armour later on, she can get to 11.

Everything else is focused on Bull Rushing (does this usually take up a full round to perform and can I finish my round off by making a bull rush, or do I need a feat for this?), intimidating and life gaining.

My 4 points from levelling up will go on Con as I need as much life possible, and I'll try to save up for a belt of physical might (perfection would cost too much) to raise my Str and Con even further.

Will you be using rules that once all creatures have lost their HP, they'll be permanently dead, or are you going to leave them on the floor in negatives, giving them a chance to come back unless we attack them past their double con limit (making them die permanently)?

I'm just trying to work out if it's worth having feats that kill them 100% when they're already downed, to give the character a boost in whatever the feat allows.

The way I've always played is that once they lose their initial HP and are downed, they're classed as dead, but I think that's to save time for the GM's, so I just wanted to double check this with you. :)

DM Acid:
He does, actually. When he defends himself or another, he has to do all he can to hold back from outright killing his opponent, even if it was a mere slight. He feels almost natural stealing from, fighting, and ambushing people who normally wouldn't deserve it, but these things have happened in the past with him, and remembering Leanna's thoughts on such things often gives him the capability to quell such urges.

Movie plot spoiler:

Name: Lucius Talamont

Race: Human

Alignment: Lawful Good

Motivation/personality: Lucius is above all, a kind soul. He will solve conflicts with gentle words and a calm hand above all else, resolving conflict by both the teachings of Iomedae and his own understanding of the situation. Lucius is not a paladin who adheres to the law above his own moral code, and that of his teachings; A thief that steals for food so that his family will not starve would bring Lucius' wrath not upon himself, but upon the ones who prevented him from feeding his family; A repentant murderer who kills one last time to save another would only cause Lucius to turn a blind eye, not smite him with blade or with words. He is an unconventional Paladin, but nonetheless adheres to Iomedae's codes, believing in her teachings above those of any priest, following her word in place of any convention. Iomedae's word is law; all others are secondary, and can be bent or ignored.

History: Lucius Talamont was born in the slums of Westcrown, perhaps the illegitimate child of a lord and a scullery maid, perhaps an unwanted pregnancy of a hesh addict. Whatever the case, he was left, as many children are, on the steps of an orphanage. He was not a large child, but his vigor more than made up for his stature. It became common knowledge that when the gruel was too thin, Lucius would steal bread for all the children who dwelt in the orphanage. When one was too sick or too weak to endure punishment, he would endure it for them. In this manner, he became a natural leader, and a notorious menace. It was this fiery spirit that made it impossible to find any sort of parent for the young boy; and what drew the Church of Iomedae's eye. Lucius was not told who would be adopting him, only that he would be adopted. Even then, he fought tooth and nail, insisting that others be taken first, suggesting other children, demanding that he be the last to go.

To the Church, however, this only made him a more attractive choice.

For a year and a day, an serendipitous amount of time, Lucius stayed with the church as a menace, living with their monks. Iomedae's teachings were blatantly ignored, base actions taken as much as possible, monks treated with outright hate, and priests forced to discipline him at every turn.

This changed suddenly when, as a teenager, he saw a young woman, heavy with child, entered the church. He heard her story of abuse at the hands of a noble lover, and how he sought to end the pregnancy to prevent a scandal. And as Lucius stepped forward to offer his aid, so did another-a Sword Knight of Iomedae, passing through. The Sword Knight righted this wrong swiftly, bringing justice where it was due-and from that moment, Lucius was set on the path of a Paladin.

Since then, he has followed his oaths admirably, and though unorthodox, he serves Iomedae with all his heart-though he can still be seen dressing in a ragged cloak, wandering the slums and speaking with old friends.

And, that's all our applicants. I'll be making an updated post of all the applicants in a little bit.

Mr. Rainy Day:

There you are!

Is there any specific reason why he was so kind, such as an orphanage worker showing him kindness at a very young age? Why wouldn't such a nice kid be able to find a parent? If he was so kind, why did he treat the priests of Iomedae with so much hate? What issue does he have with the government? Many of Iomedae's clerics in Westcrown are LN instead of LG, and the church of Iomedae in Westcrown tends to focus more on her lawful aspects instead of her good ones, because of the prevalence of the church of Asmodeus. How does he react to that?

I know you've explained your character's thought process on this in depth to me in person, and I really like him, but could you explain here why the event with the Sword Knight changed his mind so suddenly?

Sorry I rushed you so much on this, but I'm trying to keep this fair for everyone.

Acid:
Hey man, it's almost 3am here, but I just wanted to say I've finally made a build. Hopefully it won't become far too confusing to use, but if it is I'll just ask for help in the advice section on the more advanced rules. It should be fine though. :)

Feats:

Level 1: Alertness
Power Attack

Level 3: Improved Initiative

Level 5: Raging Vitality

Level 7: Intimidating Prowess

Level 9: Improved Critical

Level 11: Cornugon Smash

Level 13: Improved Bull Rush

Level 15: Raging Brutality

Level 17: Hammer The Gap

Level 19: Raging Throw

Alertness: +2 bonus on Perception and Sense Motive checks

Power Attack: You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls. This bonus to damage is increased by half (+50%) if you are making an attack with a two-handed weapon, a one handed weapon using two hands, or a primary natural weapon that adds 1-1/2 times your Strength modifier on damage rolls. This bonus to damage is halved (–50%) if you are making an attack with an off-hand weapon or secondary natural weapon. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every 4 points thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the bonus to damage increases by +2. You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage.

Improved Initiative: +4 Initiative

Raging Vitality: Whenever you are raging, the morale bonus to your Constitution increases by +2. Your rage does not end if you become unconscious. While unconscious you must still expend rounds of rage per day each round.

Intimidating Prowess: Add your Strength modifier to Intimidate skill checks in addition to your Charisma modifier.

Improved Critical: Double the threat range of one weapon.

Cornugon Smash: When you damage an opponent with a Power Attack, you may make an immediate Intimidate check as a free action to attempt to demoralize your opponent.

Improved Bull Rush: You do not provoke an attack of opportunity when performing a bull rush combat maneuver. In addition, you receive a +2 bonus on checks made to bull rush a foe. You also receive a +2 bonus to your Combat Manoeuvre Defense whenever an opponent tries to bull rush you.

Raging Brutality: While raging and using Power Attack, you can spend 3 additional rounds of your rage as a swift action to add your Constitution bonus on damage rolls for melee attacks or thrown weapon attacks you make on your turn. If you are using the weapon two-handed, instead add 1-1/2 times your Constitution bonus. This bonus damage is not multiplied on a critical hit.

Hammer The Gap: When you take a full-attack action, each consecutive hit against the same opponent deals extra damage equal to the number of previous consecutive hits you have made against that opponent this turn. This damage is multiplied on a critical hit.

Raging Throw: While raging, when you attempt a bull rush combat maneuver, you can spend 1 additional round of your rage as a swift action to add your Constitution bonus on your combat maneuver check to the bull rush. Further, if you bull rush an opponent into a square another creature occupies or into a solid object, the opponent and the creature or object take bludgeoning damage equal to your Strength modifier + your Constitution modifier.

Rage Powers:

Strength Surge (Ex): The barbarian adds her barbarian level on one Strength check or combat maneuver check, or to her Combat Maneuver Defense when an opponent attempts a maneuver against her. This power is used as an immediate action. This power can only be used once per rage.

Powerful Blow (Ex): The barbarian gains a +1 bonus on a single damage roll. This bonus increases by +1 for every 4 levels the barbarian has attained. This power is used as a swift action before the roll to hit is made. This power can only be used once per rage.

Mighty Swing (Ex): The barbarian automatically confirms a critical hit. This power is used as an immediate action once a critical threat has been determined. A barbarian must be at least 12th level before selecting this power. This power can only be used once per rage.

Guarded Life (Ex): While raging, if the barbarian is reduced below 0 hit points, 1 hit point of lethal damage per barbarian level is converted to nonlethal damage. If the barbarian is at negative hit points due to lethal damage, she immediately stabilizes.

Increased Damage Reduction (Ex): The barbarian's damage reduction increases by 1/—. This increase is always active while the barbarian is raging. A barbarian can select this rage power up to three times. Its effects stack. A barbarian must be at least 8th level before selecting this rage power. Taking this three times.

DM Acid:
Ah, I've pretty much done my character in full now and am just going to sort her story out, but I have a problem.

I thought we were going with max starting money, so I spent 50 on housing food (to make up for not paying for the sword she was given), but my armour is 100gp and I bought bed roll, waterskin and a backpack.

Do you want me to remove my armour, taking me down to 10AC? I have excess gold of about 25, so if you'd allow it, I could just say I don't have the excess gold?

I was basing her look on the starting armour as she'd have mixed her fashion sense into her armour, making it look all pretty, but if you're not happy with me doing this, I guess I could always worry about her looks later, and just buy a temp armour (studded leather, which I'll get rid of the very moment I get enough gold for a chain shirt), as the idea was to buy a chain shirt right at the start and stick with it through the whole entire campaign, getting nothing else and just focusing on upgrading it. My AC will be poo regardless, so I'm trying to boost my HP up.

It's up to you really, but studded leather is too cheap to wear having been brought up by a Knight.

Other than that, I keep the armour and leave her weapon at her place until I have enough in game money to use it. A Barbarian with no weapon is a TV without a Screen. :p

Have a look at my character profile anyway. I'm just going to try and sort out the story now.

Shadow Lodge

DM Acid:

I would say his primary motivation is the memory of his father. He isn't a Pathfinder himself, and isn't likely to be, but he grew up on stories of his father's bravery. His mother always considered him a fool but Uriah knew he was a hero.

Reading his father's journals reinforced his desire to live up to his father's memory. Learning of the evil and corruption around him, he wants to do something about it. Proving to his mother that his father wasn't a fool is also a large part of it.

Is there anything additional you would like to see with my submissions to better fit your game(s)?

Acid:

I am really tired. It was an eventful and quite exhausting wedding so I am tired and will be going to bed in a momnet. That said I am going to summerize the answers to your questions. The priest new the family really well and understands their reasons for making the mistake of dealing with the daemon to produce an heir. As such, he is the one who offers to make sure the boy grows to serve good. His affinity with daemons helps him move amongst the diobolist without rousing suspicion and take down certain heretics. Inquisitor of the infiltrator archetype is easier to hide than a Teifling Cleric. Since Issac devoted himself to being the best person he could be, the priest trust that he is no abomination but rather a blessing in disguise. Thats the summerized adjustment to the previous story. Any other questions?

I'm still around and interested - Tito happens to be True Neutral. Also, I'm fine for either CoT or CC but obviously some changes will be required for CC.

Actually, I think that with CC, Tito will probably change mechanical class to Alchemist as it would fit with Ustalav better.

Spoiler:
He was kind to the other children because despite their stature, he sympathized with them. He saw them as he saw himself-he wanted someone to protect him, someone to have faith in, so he gave them that. He didn't care one way or another about the workers at the orphanage. And he was nice only to them-to anyone who would adopt him, or have a chance of doing so, he'd deliberately make himself seem unnapealing-realizing that it would make the other children seem more appealing by comparison, giving them a better chance. He wanted to help them-not himself.

He has an issue with the government for the same reason he has an issue with the initiates of Iomedae in the city-he's more good than lawful, truly.

The Sword Knight Event changed his mind so suddenly because he saw in the sword knight what he was in a child-someone defending the weak.

Final list of applicants:
CaptainCortez - Human Urban Barbarian, CG
Fnord72 - Human Wizard, NG
Irina Kayzeld - Human Ranger, CG
Faelar Braegen - Elf Bard, CG
halplm - Elf Witch, N
Tilnar - Human Fighter, LG / Half-Orc Cleric, NG
Shanosuke - Tiefling Inquisitor
jlord - Tiefling Cleric, CG
Retech - Gnome Summoner, NG
Keddah - Human Oracle, CN
Paizo Fan - Human Sorcerer, N
Groth - Half-Orc Barbarian
Hu5tru - Human Bard, LN
Everstride - Tiefling Rogue (Thug), CG
lastknightleft - Human Cleric, N
Balodek - Human Gunslinger
Mr. Rainy Day - Human Paladin, LG

Bold means that said applicant has been accepted into CoT. Italics means that you're either under heavy consideration for CoT, or you're pretty much guaranteed a slot in CC. If your name isn't bolded or italicized, that means I'm pretty certain your character wouldn't fit for CoT, but that does not mean I won't consider you for Carrion Crown.

As for my thought process in choosing Everstride for the 4th CoT slot, I'll explain that in my next post.

Council of Thieves

DM Acid:

This is the original concept for the Carrion Crown bard. Nothing has change except the names and her ethnicity, and I have fleshed out the backstory a bit more. Let me know if that is a problem.

I chose Everstride for the fourth CoT slot for a few reasons. Firstly, I was impressed by the depth of his story. I don't usually appreciate backgrounds as long as his, but he was able to keep my attention despite its length, which impressed me. Secondly, I really wanted a tiefling in the party. There was already a cleric in the party, so that lowered jlord's chances, and I didn't find myself particularly 'grabbed' by Shanosuke's tiefling, so that left Everstride. Thirdly, despite him being new to these boards, I know Everstride's gaming history pretty well, and I know that the chances of him dropping out are slim. I also know that if it came to a point where I did have to drop him, he wouldn't hold it against me.

To be honest, the only reason I'm apprehensive about choosing him is because I'm worried about other players feeling as if I'm giving my friend more attention/loot/ect, which is slightly silly because most gaming groups I know of are composed of friends anyway. In any case, I've spoken to him about this, and he understands that if anything, I may be subconsciously harsher on him in order to 'nip such feelings in the bud'.

I'll now focus on answering any questions that may have been asked while I was sleeping.

CaptainCortez:

Hmmm. Do you think you could get a temporary suit of armor that is cheaper instead of the chain shirt? It might also help to lower your CHA in favor of some DEX, but I understand if you don't want to do that for character reasons. We could fluff that the studded leather is high quality, and looks better than most other studded leather (though it won't change anything mechanically). I'd have you all have max starting gold, but it looks like the party is going to be a party of 6, and I don't want to makes things any easier on you than they already are (since I'll already be dealing with balancing the encounters to 6 characters).

Also, in my opinion you don't really need a bedroll at this point in time, considering you're going to be sticking to the city most of the AP.

fnord72:
To be honest, I don't think I need anything else from you regarding the CoT game, but if you don't mind playing Carrion Crown, it would be great if you started thinking about how you could either fit your current character into that game, or a new character for that AP. So far we have a ranger and a bard for that group.

Shanosuke:
As I stated above, with a tiefling already in the group, I don't think I'll be able to fit Isaac in. That said, I'd be happy to consider you for Carrion Crown game, if you're interested.

Anca Ravarath:
I'll look over it in a second. I'm probably going to move Carrion Crown discussion over to an OOC discussion thread for those that are already in, and it'll take a while to type that first post up.

I've gone and grabbed the Carrion Crown player's guide. Seems like an interesting setup. It's always my preference to make a character tailored to the style of the campaign. Do you have any particular desire for me to stick with Kurgash and try to tweak him for CC, or am I free to put together a new submission designed with CC in mind?

Final Roster for Council of Thieves
Captaincortez - Adina Correll, CG Human Urban Barbarian
halplm - Jynerva, N Elf Witch
Tilnar - Dracius Ludio, NG Half-Orc Cleric of Shelyn
Everstride - Razik "Raz" Azkul, CG Tiefling Rogue (Thug)
PaizoFan - Tito Grulios, N Human Infernal Sorcerer
Mr. Rainy Day - Lucius Talamont, LG Human Paladin of Iomedae

This was a very hard decision to make. Originally when I decided to run two games, I was going to have each party at five characters each. Obviously I wasn't able to narrow it down that much. I picked Tito because it seemed the group needed another arcane caster, and I thought his personality and lip service to Asmodeus would spark some interesting conflict within the party. I was also very impressed with his backstory and the work that went into his application.

With only two 'fighter' types in the group, I then decided to pick the paladin Lucius to round the group out a bit more. I'm a fan of diversity, and a sucker for paladins that aren't 'conventional'. Couple that with what I know about the player's writing style and devotion to games, and Lucius seemed like a great choice. As a warning though, I will be watching to make sure that Lucius doesn't veer too far into 'NG territory'. I'm going to trust you to adhere to Iomedae's paladin code (which I know you have a copy of), and to play him as neither 'Lawful Stupid', nor Neutral Good. I'm not going to be horribly strict with this, but still be careful.

For the above, please report here. For everyone else, I invite you to either rework your character for Carrion Crown, or come up with a new concept for Carrion Crown. Thank you all so much for applying! I really wish I could take you all, but I'm not a skilled enough DM to attempt that. If for some reason one of the above drops out or isn't able to play, I will come back here and pick a replacement.

Groth:
You're welcome to do whichever you feel most comfortable with.

PaizoFan:
I know you're not a fan of putting your entire sheet in your profile without the use of HeroLabs, and I don't really blame you. However, there are some things that I will want on your profile for easy access (HP and dailies, mostly). We can work out what these things will be in the OOC thread.

As an aside for CC...I really hope someone submits a cleric that channels positive energy. I don't want to give away anything about the AP, but...reading through it, I'm starting to think that such a cleric is almost mandatory for at least one part of the AP.

I have a Changeling drunken master I have submitted to numerous carrion crown campaigns. Though the GMs showed great intrest in her, they never picked her. So is it a concept that is of interest?

DM Acid:
Ah, I have the Charisma to represent her good looks. I feel if I reduced it to a 10, she'd just be average and it'd only give me a +1AC to Dex anyway.

Maybe we could just say it's a chain shirt aesthetically when really it could act as a studded leather top until I get enough money for it to mechanically be a chained shirt? That way I don't have to change how it looks but for all intensive purposes it acts as studded leather (same AC, same check penalty), then when I have enough I could just put the stats up to a proper chain shirt?

It's just what I have in my head for her fashion really. Also, I didn't realise it was set mostly in Westcrown, so maybe I can get her a job to keep herself in a decent location afterall.

I'll ditch the bedroll. :)

DM Acid:

I'm willing to rework the character for Carrion Crown, honestly I don't think it would be difficult as it would be a natural extension of his desire to be a hero. Before I do so I'd like to know if the character concept is something you're interested in seeing reworked at all.

I will probably keep my submission as a cleric, but that will probably be the only similarity between the character. I will post as soon as I'm able to.

Shanosuke:
To be honest, that's a concept you'd have to work a bit to sell me on. How did she get to be a drunken master?

CaptainCortez:
I run Charisma as force of personality instead of just good looks. You can be pretty and have a low charisma. I understand though.

I'm okay with that. We can fluff it by saying it doesn't cover as much as other chain shirts or something. However, I'm not going to allow you to simply 'upgrade' it once you get enough gold to cover the difference. You'll have to buy a different chain shirt at full price once you get the gold for that.

How does that sound?

Balodek:
It is, actually. I do want to ask you though, if you think you can commit to writing at least one to two paragraphs a post. I only ask this because I looked at some of your other aliases, and found that you seem to usually post only a line or two per post. I did find a few posts that were multiple paragraphs in length, but I want to make sure that you'd even be interested in posting close to that amount normally. If so, then I'd be happy to see your character reworked for Carrion Crown.

Acid:
Aww, so I can't just fluff it in such a way where I pay the full price of a chain shirt when I can afford it and get the bonuses of a normal chain shirt? Only idea I had was to say that my current one cost me the same as studded leather and mechanically works the same as it's old and broken just doesn't perform as well as a chain shirt), so the full price would go towards "fixing" it. :p

If you're allowing her to remain beautiful with low Charisma and considering it as just a leadership thing, I might change it to get 1 extra dex at the start (it'll help for a while), but I'll have to have think about it as I'll need to change my skill stats, though I don't think that'll be a huge problem.

Shadow Lodge

DM Acid:

I guess I don't know how to answer that. Most of my posts contain enough information to convey my characters actions and thoughts, with description of what he's doing. If by 2 paragraphs you're saying you'd like to see a lengthy post every time, even if all my character has to do is fire his pistol, I'm not sure I could commit to that at all. If by 2 paragraphs you mean you want to see a lot of roleplaying then I can do that.

I leave it up to you but I know for sure I wouldn't be capable of padding each post to 2 paragraphs just to meet that limit if I didn't have that much to say. Honestly it depends on which aliases you checked, since I'm more engaged in some of my games than others. Finneas would be the best example of a fully engaged game.

Balodek:
I don't expect two paragraphs when all your character is doing is firing his pistol, but outside of combat I would like to see some lengthier posts. Mainly I'm trying to avoid one liners, since I find that such posts don't convey enough information about what the character is doing. Even outside of combat, a paragraph is fine.

I guess the best example I can find is here. The first two posts are find, in my opinion, because the characters don't have much else to do. However, when the characters have more things to do, then the length of the posts go up (though I don't expect you to type nearly as much as some of the people in that thread). I can only foresee myself having an issue if the majority of your posts turn out extremely short, just because I feel that doesn't give me enough to work with as a DM.

CaptainCortez:
Meeeeh, after looking up the repair rules, I'll allow you to pay later to upgrade it.

Shadow Lodge

DM Acid:

Ok, I see what you're looking for now. I can then confidently say it shouldn't be a problem with my Gunslinger, I'm fairly excited to play that class and if what you're looking for is less "2 paragraphs minimum" and more "Fully flesh out your character at every opportunity" it shouldn't be a problem for me.

Acid:
Ah, yay! :p

Thanks, I'll go and re-edit my re-edit then as I just set everything to studded leather. I don't know how you repair stuff, so I guess I just give the armourer enough money to make it a proper one and keep it at that.

I'll keep my ACP the same and just type in "broken Chainmail" and lower the Dex by one to Studded Leather.

Oh also, I will keep the points in Charisma as I need it for my Intimidate and Diplomacy checks. A diplomatic Barbarian. Amusing.

Davor Sandman:

Race: Half orc
Class: Cleric of Desna
Alignment: Chaotic good
Appearance: Davor is a Half orc with yellowish Grey skin, a color that is very sand-like, hence the nickname that he was given as a child. He has black hair and deep blue eyes. He is a bit lanky and skinny compared to the average halforc, most likely due to his church life. The most notable thing about Davor is that he has a birthmark in the right side of his face in the shape of a butterfly wing. The wing takes up most of the right side of his face, from forehead to cheek. He often highlites the mark with purple, silver, and gold paint or make up. He normally wears the standard white silk cap and a white silk robe.
History: An orphan from the city of Sandpoint, Davor, was left at the footsteps of the church of Desna. There was no question to why he was left on the doorsteps of the church of Desna. Davor had a birthmark in the shape if a butterfly wing. The priest’s of Desna were schocked, and believed that it was fate that brought this small child to the church. Despite the hardships of being an orphan and a half orc, Davor had a rather enjoyable childhood. Although it is not known whether he was abandoned, or if his parent’s had given him to the church due to the mark on his face, Davor believed in his parent’s choice and held no malice in his heart towards them. Davor worked hard, making his way up to a cleric of desna. On the day of his promotion to the title of cleric, Davor took the name Sandman, believing that his nickname held a worthy connection to whom he is and his connection to the goddess of dreams. After this time, like many other clerics of the goddess of traveling, Father Sandman started on a journey of discovery, to spread the beliefs of Desna and to help those in need. It was during this time that Davor Sandman heard that the land of Ustalav was a land of nightmares, and believing that this was a sign that his assistance was needed to end this nightmare and allow the Ustalavians a chance to dream peacefully.
While in Ustalav, Davor found a large group of undead attacking a small caravan. Quick to help, Davor used his ability to channel the good powers of his goddess, and slew most of the undead in a single instant! Although the guards of the caravan finished up the stragglers, the owner of the caravan, Professor Lorrimor, came out to thank Davor for the assistance, and claimed to someday repay the debt. Not long after, Davor got the message of the Professors’ death, and was surprised to hear that he was mentioned in the will. With that, Davor started to make his way to Ravengro…
Personality: Davor is a good man, who puts himself before others. He however has a bit of an Ego about his connection of desna, believing that he has some sort of divine purpose or connection to the goddess. He can be stuck up at times, but he means well!
Motivations: Davor is driven by his belief that he is a chosen avatar of Desna. By doing desna’s work, he hopes to one day be shown his true calling by the Great Dreamer herself.

DM Acid:

Updated paragraphs for Uriah to fit him into Carrion Crown.

Noticing the growing darkness in Westcrown, Uriah has taken to wearing his father's duster and battered hat, a pistol strapped to his leg and short sword at his side. Traveling the night and confronting those he deems criminals, he arrives to save those in need and leaves as mysteriously, never giving his name.

Forced to flee Westcrown when his vigilantism came to the attention of local authorities, Uriah can never return to his home. Leaving Cheliax completely, Uriah traveled to Absalom in hopes of joining the Pathfinders like his father. Turned away as too inexperienced, Uriah has taken to working as a hired gun in order to gain the experience necessary to attract the Pathfinders.

It was on one of these jobs that Uriah met Professor Lorrimor. Respecting his work and finding the older man to be a steady voice in his life, Uriah saved the Professor’s life from a back alley thug, shooting the man down before his knife found the Professor’s back. With the promise of steady work should whenever his skills were needed, Uriah opened the letter bearing Lorrimor’s seal with anticipation, a feeling quickly replaced by sadness. Rushing to Ravengro with all haste, Uriah finds his gun useless and his heart heavy.

Sovereign Court

Sorry for the delay, I pretty much never get on a computer over the weekend, but during the week I'm on daily.

Spoiler:
The reason he has the undead sub domain is a result of taking his goddess's hatred of undead so literally that he over-zealously studied and focused on undead in the belief that in order to combat your enemies you must know everything about them. I've made the argument before here that nothing in the undead sub-domain requires you to be pro-undead, it's just a focus on undead, and intense study in hopes of eradication represents a focus. However I just got new information from the APG (I use the PRD so i didn't have the chart when I made the character), about the subdomains she offers. So I actually have to change that sub-domain out because although by the core rules in the PRD its allowed, by the campaign rules in the APG it isn't. So I'm chaging it simply to death domain ability.

If you don't think he'd be effective in CoT you should give him a chance in the Carrion Crown campaign were his channeling and the undead heavy nature of the game should make him work quite well.

Dark Archive

DM Acid if you ar still accepting applicants I submit for you:

Korag Garn Urlot VIII of the Goldenhammer Clan:

Dwarven cleric of Abadar

Korag is something of a red-headed step child of his clan (literally and figuratively). Where the rest of his family are miners, smiths, or craftsmen, Korag longed for the road and the wonders around him. Thus he turned to following Abadar. Thinking that the best use of his abilities and passions that would still further the clan would be one of the traveling merchants. Alas Korag had neither the talents or the drive to learn the tradecraft. However, while apprenticing for the merchant guild, he was accompanying a caravan when some bandits attacked. Here Korag's abilities and passion finally meshed with a need with his clan: that of a traveling caravan bodyguard. Not only would he be able to see the world around him, but he would still be a valuable asset to his clan.

It was on one such caravan that he ran into Professor Lorrimor. The professor was on one of his long trips exploring the realm of Golarion. Reaching an agreement with the caravan, Professor Lorrimor, joined the group. Korag sat listening to the tales and adventures that the professor experienced in his long years of life. Eventually the 2 became friends and whenever the caravan travelled to Ustalav he would visit his friend and share the experiences that they both had since they last saw each other.

Upon hearing of his friends death, Korag left the caravan and travelled to pay his respects to the man who taught him more about the world than anyone else he has ever met.

Profile will have full stats for Korag this afternoon.

Okay, I changed my mind on making my applicant for carrion crown a Drunken master and went with a far different approach. Here is Danaline!

Danaline’s Story:
Danaline was a changeling. She knew that though she made an effort to hide it as often as she could. Few people in the world knew of her origin and it was a story she seldom told. She took to wandering from place to place around the region of Ravengro to avoid being discovered for her dark past. Often times she would visit monasteries to learn the ways of becoming a monk. She was good at it, and it made things easier for her to hide as she didn’t need to talk much and it also gave her a place to focus. She grew skilled in the art of focus.

Over the years, Danaline had taken to visiting and studying in various monasteries to learn and fuse the training they had to offer. One of her favorite monasteries taught her to use her abilities of mediation and spiritual visions to see beyond the veil of reality. She worked hard to start on the path of this discipline. Another monastery helped her to be at peace with others. Despite her origins she grew evermore determine to preserve life wherever she could. She took this discipline to heart as well. Traveling still she soon discovered various combat styles to improve her abilities to defeat her opponents. She worked hard to learn as many of these as she could. Learning these styles and meshing them to together in perfect harmony made her into something that the monasteries had never seen. Many applauded her achievements and recognized her for her success at being able to adopt such versatility to the norm of being a monk. With an ever growing confidence and a sense of duty, she began to wander the land on a new quest, to help others in need.

A few years later she had the privilege of actually rescuing one named professor Lorrimor. She was out on her travels when she saw an old man being attacked by a wolf. She rushed to his rescue as she would have normally done, but there ended being two wolves and though she defeated them, she was badly hurt. Lorrimor was so grateful that he brought her back to his place to nurse her back to health. Danaline only stayed with the old man a couple of days, but in that time they became friends. She had accidentally divulged her true identity to him but rather than act in fear as she was used to, he showed more interest. This lead to a lot of rather uncomfortable questions. Danaline knew the old man was just being curious but all the same it was a subject she was fond of talking about no matter who the recipient was.

Lorrimor also taught her much about reading, wrtting, and arithmetic. She shared with him her philosophical knowledge on all she had learned, surprised by her reservoir of sensible philosophical knowledge and her physical prowess, Lorimorr encouraged her to begin teaching these things to others. That she had a talent for instructing. She took this advice to heart and as soon as she was able, she made her departure. Lorrimor told her she could stay but she wouldn’t. After all, she didn’t like staying anywhere for too long. Upon bidding the old man farewell, he promised that he would someday repay her for saving his life and for offending her. She forgave him for the offense right there and told him which monastery she frequented in here wandering and told him to go there should he ever need anything.

Taking the professor’s advice, Danaline took training other monks in the monasteries she visited. Many of the head monks were astounded that one so young had attained so much. Danaline would also visit Lorrimor on occasion too, thanking him for the advice and the aid he gave her. She would visit every three months or so. However, nne day when Danaline visited her favorite monastery. She received the summons regarding Lorrimor’s funeral. Danaline was shocked. She had only visited him two weeks ago and he seemed healthy as a horse. This news deeply saddened Danaline and she knew she wanted to attend the old man’s funeral. Taking only some rations, Danaline made her way to Lorrimor’s hometown to attend her dear friend’s funeral.

Danaline’s Build:

She is a Changeling Monk of many styles, a monk of the sacred lotus, a ki mystic, and a sensei. She uses her profound wisdom and focuses more on grappling a foe that using the flurry of blows technique, which she loses by taking the support archetype Sensei. She will be a monk all the way to level 20.

Personality::

Danaline is generally extrovert despite the fact that she wont talk to much about her past She is quite flirtatious with people she admires enough, those have been few and far between. She loves listening to stories of peoples adventures and exploits. She is easy going and well mannered, just don't ask her about her past. She will talk about her training if asked about and some of her humbler adventures.

Appearance::

She is about six foot tall. She has long silky black hair that runs all the way to her bum. Her Skin is pale. She also has the two different colour eyes. One is a sky blue, the other is a deep brown. A creepy looking contrast to be sure. She wears a top similar to a sports bra and arm wraps. Around her waist she has a belt with a long sash covering the front and the back. She wears a loincloth under that. She wears wraps around her feet and sandals. Her body is tight and defined. She obviously has great physical prowess and she is very attractive.

Any Questions?

I don't want to step on any toes here, apologies if I have, but that's not a legal build. Master of Many Styles and Sensei both replace flurry of blows.

DM Acid:
Two ideas have struck me, and since the group is already half formed I figured a nod to party balance might be a good way to decide it for me. One is an Alchemist from Numeria, focused on Knowledge skills and uncovering the hidden secrets of life. A little inspired by Sherlock Holmes with heavier use of chemical thinking aids. The other is an Inquisitor of Iomedae, very much driven to root out and destroy the undead where ever they hide. Perhaps a bit of a nod to the class Dr Van Hellsing model there.

I'm having some slight issues with either my internet, or the Paizo site, so I may be slow tonight. I'll work on giving questions and answering questions as quickly as I can.

I retract my correction, I double checked once I got home to my books and they actually all stack. Crazy monks!

Groth:
I would absolutely love either of those, though I admit I prefer the inquisitor of Iomedae.

Nelson VanDenHoek 692:
I'm sorry, but applications are closed. I will however consider your character for Carrion Crown if I don't get enough players for whatever reason.

jlord:
I like it. However, I have a small problem with one part of his backstory. Mainly how he was able to slay a large group of undead in a single instant. We're starting at level one, so this seems to be a bit inconsistent with what he'd realistically be able to do. It's just a small gripe I have though.

Shanosuke:
Why would the monasteries allow a changeling student to train with them? The players guide also states that there aren't many monasteries in Ustalav, so where did she travel to get her training? What is her past? Given that you want to play a non-core race, her past is something that I'd really like to know. To be honest, I'm not much a fan of characters that have 'dark pasts' that they never talk about, especially when I don't know what said 'dark past' is.

Balodek:
I really like what you've done to tailor him to Carrion Crown. Awesome work.

lastknightleft:
Honestly, I still don't see how he would be able to hold his own stat-wise with the other characters. Yes, he can channel, but a cleric is not just about channeling. I'm usually reluctant to accept -any- character with a 7 in a stat, as I see it as a great handicap, and you want me to accept a character with a 7 in his most important stat. Do you see where I'm coming from?
