Speculation: 5 new factions= Faction population migration?

Silver Crusade 5/5

With the introduction of 5 new factions how do you think this will impact the populations of the 5 already established factions?

What are your thoughts? speculations?

Shadow Lodge 1/5

I would guess that about 1 in 10 characters will switch, maximum. But I would also guess that 4 out of 5 new characters whill choose one of the new factions instead of the original ones.

Grand Lodge

I haven't seen the Pathfinder Field Guide yet, but I expect the benefits offered there to be a huge influence in faction changes. Your trait is fixed with your current faction, but I'm looking for a change rate of around 25%. A lot of people made their initial choice without a good understanding of what the faction meant.

I think the Shadow Lodge will be pretty popular, Grandmaster Torch is a pretty popular character, and it is a lot differant of a faction then most people originally thought it was going to be.

Out of fifteen players who were at our PFS session tonight, I know that at least three of them went over to the Shadow Lodge, and two went over to the Silver Crusade.

I predict that the masses will flood back to Taldor's sweet scented bosom. Where they will be treated kindly in turn!
Hail Taldor! May she reign for many years hence and fill the velvet pockets of the patriots with coin.

I, for one, had to raise my brows at the trait benefits that the Shadow Lodge offers it's initiates. 'Twas seemingly impressive, especially compared to the scant benefits that the Sczarni rats offer one another. They barely seem a faction if judged by traits, with only the ability to sneer at others with daggers. Shameful.

I predict that the most popular factions in Season 3 will be determined in much the same way as with Seasons 0-2: the factions which, on paper, appear to require their members to get their hands the least dirty, the ones which appear to have no character "downsides," will be the most popular.

In Seasons 0-2, that faction was, of course, Andoran. Of the initial five, Andoran was, on paper, the "most good" faction. Apparently, this faction's actual play experience required its members to get their hands dirtier than they initially wanted.

In Season 3, those factions will be the Shadow Lodge and the Silver Crusade.

The Exchange

Oh yeah, Silver Crusade for sure.

Most PFS players will have more than one character.
And most PFS players will choose different for each character, likely choosing the faction that fits best.
And most PFS players will have a good-aligned character who will most likely drawn to one of the 2 or 3 "good" factions: Andoran, Silver Crusade, and maybe the Shadow Lodge(?).

And when I'm helping a new player build a new PFS character and that character is good-ish? I'm pointing them to the Silver Crusade...it's easy to explain and just makes sense.

Awesome.

Tell them that the 5 new factions are Gryffindor, Team Discovery Channel, Team Edward, the Judean People's Front, and LambdaLambdaLambda.

See what happens.

Sczarni 1/5

Switched from Qadira to Sczarny. Fits more with Roagh's attitude.

LambdaLambdaLamda all the way! That fight the power trait just too good.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Well this evening I ran the "frozen fingers of Midnight".

I had 3 regulars, and 3 newcomers. My players liked the addition of the 5 new factions.

Two of the three regulars switched factions. The Andoran Paladin switched to Silver Crusade.

The Osiriani Witch 1 and alchemist 2 switched from Osirioni to Lantern Lodge.

Of the three new comers, one picked Cheliax, another Taldor, and a third picked the Silver Crusade.

good times

You are allowed to switch one time for free. Reread page 18 of the v4 of the Guide to Organized Play.

All free faction changes must take place before the official start of Season 4 (August 16, 2012).

If you play a year 3 scenario before changing it will cost you most of that 19 to do. If you're going to use the free change you have to do it before you play the character in year 3. If you don't actually play the character in year 3, it will be very, very expensive to change in year 4.

i get theirs no actuale cost but if u read carefuly u lose ur prestige awards i don't get how that works out and this is taken from the pdf (though you still loose any PrestigeAwards accumulated as part of your old faction). If such

I'm pretty sure you don't have any to lose, since that's something they just introduced. Do you have — for instance — a fancy title from your faction that you spent PA on?

What they used to call Prestige Awards are now called Prestige Points. They have something new which they're calling Prestige Awards. What they've given us is the general rules for changing your faction, so they spell out that you lose any of this new thing (prestige awards) that you have. And it also usually costs a lot of prestige points (which used to be called prestige awards).

This one time you can change for no prestige points and you don't have any prestige awards.

What page? cannot find... I found the descriptions of the new factions...but either I cant find their associated traits/feat or, they did not add new traits for the new factions.

Grand Lodge 5/5

The first new faction (Grand Lodge) is on page 11 of the PFSOP Guide 4.1. The traits for Grand Lodge are at the bottom of the left column under the section titled:
