Background: Born to the Sklar-Quah under auspicious omens, Emilah was the pride of her mother and father. An intelligent child with a strong body and a passion for the hunt. Emilah was always happiest after a good hunt and celebrating with her tribe. However, as she began to grow into a woman, changes were noticed that caused the tribe great concern. While before her hair was solid black streaks of red began to form in her hair and her eyes changed from a light brown to sharp blood red. The shamans of the tribe communed with the spirits of the Sklar-Quah for a month, attempting all manner of reagents and mystical means to remove the affliction that was changing her body. Sequestered away from her tribe and her family, Emilah began to resent the shamans for her confinement but what truely hurt her was the rejection of her friends and father. She became a taboo to the tribe nearly overnight. A rage she didn't know existed inside of her welled up to the front of her mind and the only thing that kept it in check for a time was her mother, who continued to love her unconditionally and prayed daily that her daughter would be cured. Emilah didn't feel sick, she felt stronger even, quicker, more powerful. Though the shamans tried to hide it, Emilah still heard the whispers behind her back that she was possessed, a demon child who should be banished from the tribe. During the night of a dark moon, she attempted to leave her tent and was stopped by one of the shamans. A months worth of painful emotions finally broke through and in a rage she picked up the old man by his neck and flung him back with a strength she didn't know she posessed. Turning around quickly she grabbed the weapons and supplies she kept in her tent and shouldered her backpack. Stepping back out she yelled at the shaman, "If you do not want me here anymore then I will leave!"
Promptly running out of the camp she set on the road and never looked back. Eventually Emilah made her way far west into the small town of Sandpoint. There at least none of the Shoanti knew her, and she could try to make a new life for herself. Hiring out as a hunter and sometimes guardswoman when Sheriff Hemlock needed the extra help, Emilah tried to make herself fit in and hide the strange features of her hair and eyes. But as the years passed rumors and talk couldn't help but spread and Emilah began to feel the smal old resentments of her time with the tribe. That was when she met Ameiko Kaijitsu. Ameiko didn't judge Emilah for her appearance and accepted her as a person. Emilah quickly began to feel a friendship with Ameiko that grew into something more quicker than she knew what to do with it. Though she has never shared her feelings more than being close friends, Emilah is considered her chances now that she has turned eighteen.
Personality: Emilah carries the superstitions of her people and tries to carry the bearing of fierce dignity her people instilled into her. She doesn't take things lying down if they offend her. Emilah enjoys strong drinks and feasts with friends and is always willing to help if it involves hunting some beast or the potential of a good fight. However, once a fight has begun, she has problems containing her anger, and it sometimes it spills out in a blinding rage she can't control. A flicker of malice shows in her eyes when this happens, as if she is enjoying the bloodshed.
Appearance: Emilah has the deeply tanned skin of the Shoanti people with a strong hunter's body. Her hair is tied back in a pony tail currently with streaks of red running through her hair. Her eyes seem to glow a faint red at night though that is barely noticable. Her arms and legs sport a few scars from her training while her midriff has a score of claw marks along her ribcage. In full battle dress Emilah seems like a walking armory with a greataxe, longspear, and shortbow strapped and crossed on her back. A full quiver at her right hip with a mace strapped to it. While on her left hip sits a pair of handaxes.
Jade Regent: Recently Emilah has become bored with the quiet life of Sandpoint. While she has adjusted to village life it has never sat well on her shoulders. She has begun to consider taking jobs that will take her farther away from Sandpoint and into land she has never seen before. Counterpoint to that is her feelings for Ameiko and her desire to stay near the woman, for the friendship if nothing else.
1. Which NPC does your character know? What is your character's attachment to said character?
My character knows Ameiko and she is awkwardly falling for Ameiko as she progresses through her teenage years.
2. What motivation would your character have to join the caravan?
Emilah would help Ameiko with just about anything, and her natural desire to see more of the world would compel her even more.
3. What will your character contribute to the group?
Emilah is a strong fighter with survival skills.
4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
Mechanically Emilah will be taking several levels of barbarian with the arcane heritage for the Abyssal bloodline powers. Potentially Emilah could take a level of sorcerer to open up the Dragon Disciple prestige class towards the higher levels of the campaign. The general idea is strength building for high damage hits.
5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
Story wise I plan on having my character struggling with the taint in her bloodline (some kind of fiendish red dragon far back in her family history probably) as it develops over the story. Her crush on Ameiko will become the cornerstone of her emotional growth as a character. If Ameiko returns Emilah's feeling she might be able to learn to control her rage as she replaces it with more happy emotions. If Emilah messes up or Ameiko chooses someone else, Emilah might become a desperate axe-crazy women with unrequited love driving her deeper into her tainted blood.
6. What do you think of the Caravan mechanic presented in the Jade Regent Player's Guide? Does it seem unnecessary, or do you think it will add to the campaign?
I think the caravan system could bring great roleplay opportunities to the campaign though I worry about it slowing down the campaign.
7. What is your opinion on the concept of romances in a roleplaying game? Would you pursue one, or prefer that they remain an untouched subject?
I would enjoy pursuing an adult relationship in a roleplay setting. I think the subject deserves more consideration than it generally gets and can add great depth to roleplay motivations.
Coming into town late from a long day of hunting, Emilah carries a sack of rabbits over her right shoulder. Dropping the sack off at the local meat shop she takes a sack of coins and ties it to her belt. Walking quickly to the Rusty Dragon Inn with a need for a strong drink, Emilah smiles and waves to a few people she passes on the street, other hunters like her. However, her happy mood is replaced by urgency as the late afternoon sky begins to rain. Soaking her clothes quickly as she runs through the over hangings of the houses, Emilah breathes a sigh of relief as she sees the Rusty Dragon Inn come into view. Opening the door with one hand, she sets her spear and shortbow in one of the weapon boxes by the door and smiles as she sees a few of the regulars already here.
"Hello Beth, has Ameiko returned yet?" Emilah's face flushes slightly as she asks the question, hoping it isn't noticed.
"Afraid not dear, can I get you anything?
"Yes, a mug of ale please. I had a good day on the hunt.
Moving away from Beth and seeing Anen already up and getting ready to perform, she moves close to the woman and waves happily.
"Not singing yet Anen?" turning towards the gambling table, "Mind if I hop in? I could use some fun tonight.

Nik'o |
Say Nik'o looks depressed even for him. I wait for the song to end then boom "Nik'o say me a fortune fair to call this storm's omen a lie, bring cheer to these halls and good winds to the roads".
Nik'o lets a smile crawl up his face as he recognizes his friend: "Ah! Iozif, you are perhaps right, yet my heart lies heavy still in my chest. She has left peacefully and with a full life behind her, but she has also left a big hole behind... Enough of this gloom then! She wouldn't want this and I shall be strong! Let us dance and sing to her on this night, that Her Butterflies reach her star and let her know we are happy mourners for her!" He stands then and waives for another song, lifting his arms to start a clumsy dance; a smile and tears running down his cheeks...
I'll look after Koya, be at peace friend.

Parsifal Foghain |

Parsifal has been away for years and came back when the Sheriff hired extra guards to deal with the "goblin problem" -- at that time, he met Shalelu, and considering her role in the that followed (and her attractiveness), he developed a bit of hero worship where she's concerned.
2. What motivation would your character have to join the caravan?
A few factors would lead to this... One, a chance to pursue Shalelu... Two, he came to Sandpoint because he felt a call... and since he missed all the "excitement" of the goblin thing, a follower of the Gold-Fisted might think this is what he was brought here to do...
3. What will your character contribute to the group?
Front-line fighter, smiter of evil, secondary healer.
4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
I might go Oathbound, but at the moment I'm looking at straight-up paladin.
5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
Well, I would try to persue a relationship with Shalelu, and generally be a protector-of-the-innocent sort of person... I don't know enough about this AP to say much more, but I'm sure I'll come up with something as we progress...
6. What do you think of the Caravan mechanic presented in the Jade Regent Player's Guide? Does it seem unnecessary, or do you think it will add to the campaign?
I'm torn. I can see how it would add to a campaign, but at the same time, having formal rules in place there seems like it might reduce the flexibility of what people *might* have done... Still, I think it's well worth giving them a try.
7. What is your opinion on the concept of romances in a roleplaying game? Would you pursue one, or prefer that they remain an untouched subject?
I have no problem with them, unless they're needlessly graphic. As described, I was sort of thinking it might be fun to pursue Shalelu...

Iozif Henricson |

Ah that's better.
Iozif beams at Nik'o. "Yes, dance to honor her and her calm faith, and move on to a better place in your heart, even Aunt Koya's melancoly has turned toward restlessness."
He takes a chair between Nik'o and Karoka leaning alarmingly back. You should shed no tears friend it does nothing but waste water - but you are not ready to hear that.
He turns to Karoka. "A hearth is friends, friend. Even the fire is a friend granting warmth and light when needed."
Card games, must have played everyone ever made in Varisia everwhere we went. And I still lose all the time. Sigh
Toward the card table Iozif waves and foghorns "I have played much and learned nothing so I am most qualifed to kibitz. All you have to do is ask and I'll tell you what to do. Then do the opposite and your victory is certain!"
He looks as Emilah comes in. The Shoanti hunter that Ameiko befriended is here. Wow that quite the catch she has there.
"Hey Emilah you should scout for the caravans. Bring that in and soon the cooks will have us sojourners rolling down the road with our fat bodies. Should speed the trip by double!" He laughingly suggests.
Inn gets any fuller and the walls will start to bulge. Iozif settles back now.

Emilah |

Emilah smiles at Iozif as he suggest joining the caravans. "I have heard the caravans were moving soon." Reaching up she pulls back the hood over her head and allows her sable ponytail to flow out behind her. The red streaks running through her hair seem thicker than a few days ago and her red eyes reflect some of the Inns light.
"How are you doing Iozif?" Sitting herself down at the table, she smiles up at Beth as she takes the mug of ale and tips it back to her lips. Swallowing down a 4th of the mug she smiles as the room seems to brighten.
"So, what we playing?

Harun Kaijitsu |

Ameiko, she is Harun's older sister and the only family he has left.
2. What motivation would your character have to join the caravan?
Harun wants to see what adventures he can have. He is hoping that it will somehow make Ameiko open up to him and tell him of her adventures and why she retired.
3. What will your character contribute to the group?
A bit of a party face and a team member to help deal damage.
4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
Knife Master and Unarmed Fighter multiclass, to explore the options of what they can do.
5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
Go and see the world hoping that the experience will bring him closer to his older sister.
6. What do you think of the Caravan mechanic presented in the Jade Regent Player's Guide? Does it seem unnecessary, or do you think it will add to the campaign?
I'd be willing to give it a try. Can't see what it's like until we try it out.
7. What is your opinion on the concept of romances in a roleplaying game? Would you pursue one, or prefer that they remain an untouched subject?
I have no problem with romances in a game. If it comes up and works out then go with it.
Timezone: PST
Harun comes in from the rain, wet to the bone, with a grin on his face. He walks on through the inn waving to Anen and goes to the kitchen.
"Hey, Bethana. I'm going to grab some cider." He pulls a bag out of a bigger bag. "Here are the sausages you wanted me to pick up." He puts the bag on the counter, throwing the wet nag under it.
After shaking the water off as much as he can at teh back of the kitchen Harun grabs his mug of apple cider and goes into the main room.

Levelle Mahe |

"A hearth is friends, friend. Even the fire is a friend granting warmth and light when needed."
On this we most certainly agree
Karoka finishes his drink and sets the empty mug on the table. Despite his best efforts he cannot help but watch the elf dancing and crying in his sad way. Turning slightly towars Iozif and keeping his voice low, Karoka notes in Orcish I would think a person who can see what might come would be best prepared to handle what has passed. Or perhaps I am not familiar with how certain elves handle their grief? Not that I blame him per se, grief can be more powerful than rage it has been said.
Karoka returns to his more relaxed position and continues to watch the Rusty Dragon fill, a slight unease teasing at the back of his mind. So many in one place, perhaps more than a storm is coming? This town has not had good luck with large gatherings. Karoka stops himself for a moment and shakes his head ever so slightly. What a foolish line of thinking. This is a filling tavern room not some city square on festival day!
To no one in particular Karoka notes I think I need another drink. Despite his declaration he simply continues to sit and watch the patrons mingle and move.

Kassara |

Presenting Kassara - Human Ranger (Trapper) -
See profile for details, all done except for equipment and background. - Took 2 campaign traits but can change if that's not OK?
1. Which NPC does your character know? What is your character's attachment to said character?
Kassara is Ameiko's younger sister but was also a student of Shalelu.
2. What motivation would your character have to join the caravan?
To finally go on an adventure (its sooooooo boring in Sandpoint and Ameiko's always talking about the stuff she used to get up to) - and Wow - the chance to go on a trip with Shalelu!.
3. What will your character contribute to the group?
Who couldn't use a ranger skilled at trapping, scouting and who's not too bad with a bow?
4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
Not too sure. - Keep going as a ranger and focus increasingly on sneaking and ranged combat. Vague possibility of multiclassing as a rogue but unlikely.
5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
Again, see where the story takes her but the romantic Sandru would probably be key.
6. What do you think of the Caravan mechanic presented in the Jade Regent Player's Guide? Does it seem unnecessary, or do you think it will add to the campaign?
On the face of it seems to be a good way of streamlining the whole process. Looking forward to seeing how it works.
7. What is your opinion on the concept of romances in a roleplaying game? Would you pursue one, or prefer that they remain an untouched subject?
They can work well if treated with maturity by the players and GM. If this is the case I would pursue one (if appropriate to the game).
The door once again swings open with a gust of wind revealing the slight form of Ameiko's 16 year-old younger sister, Kassara. As she hurries into the room she pulls back the oiled leather hood of her winter cloak and wipes an unruly strand of blonde hair from her eyes before glancing around at the crowded room.
Wow, busy night! The bad weather must have helped bring some more customers in from the cold. Wonder where Ameiko and Shalelu are though? They're running a bit late.

Kassara |

Noticing her half-brother Harun at the gaming table Kassara smiles a nasty smirk. Stopping only to palm a harmless spider from beneath the ledge of the bar, she sneaks up behind her younger sibling and, with skillful dexterity shoves it down his back...
Hope this is OK,.. just noticed some shared background... :)

Jaska Galahad |

Redclover here with a Varisian Inquisitor of Desna with the Travel Domain. I'm in US Eastern timezone(Kentucky) but my sleep schedule is pretty wild so I'm on board all hours of the night. Really got into this character concept and this AP looks like a blast. Any comments would be greatly appreciated, Thanks : )
Questions
1. Which NPC does your character know? What is your character's attachment to said character?
Jaska knows Koya Mvashti, Having been born to a long line of followers of Desna, Jaska has often dealt with Koya and her mother before her. Jaska's family have long been close friends of Koya', Jaska learned much of what he knows about Desna from the Mvashti's, and became a respected pupil of Koya. Niska's dying wish has Jaska keeping a closer eye on his mentor now than ever. He'd also have a friendly relationship with Ameiko, seeing as how he frequents her inn.
2. What motivation would your character have to join the caravan?
The influence of Desna and the call to travel has been divinely imbued into Jaska's very being, be it by fate or Desna's will, and as such Jaska is possessed with such incurable wanderlust that it borderlines on being a problem. Aditionally, in the days and weeks since his visit with Koya's mother, he has felt a looming sense of anxiousness, as if he is on the verge of great things. Believing strongly in signs and omens, he feels that Niska is watching over him from the stars while he is sworn to watch over her daughter. If Koya is going, then so will follow Jaska, as he has far too much respect for signs and omens of Desna and for the late Niska Mvashti.
3. What will your character contribute to the group?
Jaska is mobile, in combat he'll do what damage he can with his starknife, but he'll also demoralize his foes often with intimidate, and buff himself with his judgements, later his teamwork feats will help the party. Outside of combat, he's a good advisor to a party face, and the best intimidator, not to mention an adequate survivor in the wilderness and utility osirons like create water and detect poison make him a smart addition to any group of wayward travelers.
4. What are your plans for your character mechanically?
Mechanically I'm ultimately aiming for the Sphere-walker Prestige class, I've already invested in the correct feats and my skill choices are on their way. My path to that class is slightly in flux, depending on the rest of the party make up, but it will either be straight inquisitor until then, or possibly with levels into the free hand or weapon master fighter archtypes, both specializing in the starknife, if the party looks like it might need a little extra punch melee/thrown weapon damage output.
5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective?
Jaska is a devout follower of Desna, and seeks to be a paragon of the Desnan Ideal. He will see life as a beautiful chaos, ever seeking new experiences and locales. Constantly seeking exciting things in life, Jaska might be known around town as something of a socialite, never turning down an offer to partake in drink or any other herb or drug or even concubine which he is yet to experience, but never losing sight of the greater good. Jaska will be quick to form friendships with all who can keep him interested, but even quicker to belittle those he sees as stiff or outright boring.
6. What do you think of the Caravan mechanic presented in the Jade Regent Player's Guide? Does it seem unnecessary, or do you think it will add to the campaign?
I think it'll work better on pbp than around a table, as it might be a little sluggish, so i think we should consider ourselves lucky. I'll with hold any definitive answer until i see how it plays out in game though. I'm certainly willing to try it and paizo has done soe pretty interesting things with similar ideas in other APs.( like the kingmaker kingdom building)
7. What is your opinion on the concept of romances in a roleplaying game? Would you pursue one, or prefer that they remain an untouched subject?
I'm all for them, and Jaska will most likely seek romance wherever he can find it. It's good fun if you can do it in a mature way, and without being too mushy or any of that, but its a powerful emotion and one that's easy to identify with. One of my favorite characters was a rogue from the Savage Tide AP who courted and married The Vanderbourne lady(her actual name escapes me at this moment) and it offered a very rewarding roleplay experience, and that was around a table, with my gm. Pbps are great for rich narrative roleplay and i think when it's possible, and encouraged in the case of the Jade Regent, it's too powerful of a narrative tool to avoid altogether.
Jaska erupted through the door of the tavern with labored breathing. His flowing clothe scarves all soaked from the rain. He smiles and waves at any who might take note of this intrusion, The Rusty Dragon was fuller than he had figured and his entrance was a little unceremonious. Never the less he makes his way to the hearth of the fireplace and places his hat and various scarves near the flame to dry out. Removing his lute from it's wrapping he quickly adjusted the pegs until the instrument was in tune and warmed his tired bones by the fire while he played a bustling melody. He looked to Anen, and thought of how he hoped she would sing. Her voice moved him in ways that not much in Sandpoint could, and a smile steadily crept upon his face as he studied the lines of hers.
This went on until he was pleasantly warm, at which point he returned the lute to its wrapping across his back and made his way to the bar in search of Ameiko. It was a rainy night, and sleeping in it would be most unpleasant. As he had nowhere else to stay tonight, he hoped that Ameiko might let him entertain for his room and board, as she had done for him a few nights before. He finds only Bethana who looks to be very busy."Bethana my dear is there a party here tonight I didn't know about? This is as full as I've seen the Rusty Dragon, Save for around the Sawallowtail." Jaska Rambles, more to himself than anyone else, as the halfling busies herself with supplying food and drink to the patrons. A sense of butterflies in his stomach overwhelmed him, and he thought of the Starsong fondly. It felt as though he was standing on a precipice and he couldn't be happier for it.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

The profile isn't fully finished, but most of it is there.
2. What motivation would your character have to join the caravan? He has always been looking to do something exciting, but he has stayed around town due to falling for the elf. If she were to leave Sandpoint he would find a reason to go wherever she is headed.
3. What will your character contribute to the group? He will be a melee healer, and a noble diplomat.
4. What are your plans for your character mechanically? I will take a lot of melee combat spells and feats. Basically, he will try to emulate a Paladin, as a Cleric
5. What are your plans for your character from a story-perspective? He wants to do something more for the world than patrol Sandpoint. He want's to be a warrior of Iomedae, but will stay a cleric for his family's name. He will be a defender of the weak, and a deliverer of justice.
6. What do you think of the Caravan mechanic presented in the Jade Regent Player's Guide? Does it seem unnecessary, or do you think it will add to the campaign? I think it is a neat mechanic, almost like squad tactics with wagons. It may be a little cumbersome at first, but it would be fun to try a new concept and see how it works. Maybe, use it as a springboard to develop other similiar rules.
7. What is your opinion on the concept of romances in a roleplaying game? Would you pursue one, or prefer that they remain an untouched subject? I like the romance idea, especially built into the story. Most often it's just, "This person can be a love interest". It is human nature to look for love, having a motivation in the game just helps to build the persona of the characters in it.
Just as Jaska begins to close the door, Thaddeus puts his mailed hand out to stop it. "Begging your pardon, Sir, sorry for the intrusion." He steps in and looks out into the rain before he closes the door, ensuring that he does not catch someone else in its closing. Pausing in the entryway, he scans the room as his eyes adjust, clearly looking to find something or someone in particular. The look on his face is evidence enough that whatever it was is not present.
His moves are rigid, some of the current patrons have joked that it is due to the stick up his backside. It is known, though, that it doesn't appear to bother him. He is proud of his polished armor and his faith. He tenders a soft greeting to those present, "May Iomedae's glory keep you safe." and hastens a few short waves to those he recognizes from patrol duty.
When he gets Bethana's attention he orders, "Milady, I would appreciate a bowl of stew, if you would be so kind?" thinking briefly he adds, "Could I also get a cup of mulled wine? Thank you." He speaks softly for one so obsessed with combat, any that know him know that he's just shy. The clatter of the armor he wears drowns out some of his words. Some would say that he never takes it off, if it weren't for the fact that he is always well-groomed. He takes a spot by the bar, which allows him to watch the door, then takes out a cloth and begins to wipe down his armor, taking special care to get every inch of the holy symbol hanging out the front.
When he gets his food, he pays more than enough, and thanks Bethana. You would think he is flaunting the money his parent's have, but they have given enough to the city's coffers to know that they are a generous house. He sits quietly, despite the noise of the place, and eats with proper decorum. Yet, all the while, he watches the door waiting for someone specific to enter, just like every other day.
EDIT: I am in Eastern time, but I'm a shift worker (my shift changes every 3 weeks), and can post from the computers at work. So any time of day is good for me.

Jasper Lind |

Jasper quietly plays cards at the table with a complete lack of competence. All the while watching the other patrons.
It is no wonder the town has been so safe these last few years, with all of these fine heroes to protect it. I understand Shalelu's recent desire to adventure again. I should ask to join her this time. There is much I could learn from her.

Emilah |

Emilah smiles as she sees little Harun come towards her. Looking away from her cards for a moment, she responds back in her mother tongue.
Cut off as her turn to place a bet comes around, she sets down a few coppers and a silver and turns back to the young man, a smile forming on her face as she sees Kassara coming up behind Harun, giving a quick playful wink to the woman as she concentrates a bit harder on the game at hand.

Parsifal Foghain |

Mostly done profile. Will fill in details before the weekend's up -- I've been given chores -- apprently weatherstripping is more important than PbP to some people...
Happy to be done his shift, Parsifal happily heads to the Rusted Dragon for a bit of rest. I do not know why I was called to be here... I thought all those troubles were my mission, and yet, all I've done is parade around for the most part... The sound of conversation and smells of food chase those thoughts away as he swings the door open.
An excellent night for Ameiko, it seems.., he thinks, noting the crowd. He nods at various regulars as he removes the militia tabard and cloak and finds a place to sit. "A tankard of ale, if you would."

Iozif Henricson |

Without realizing it Iozif begins to minimize his size as though preping for stealth. The number of people in the room has passed his comfort level as he seeks to increase the space around him.
I thought it was crowded before. Is the rain really that bad? Thunder rolls. Hm Thanks for the answer oh spirits of nature.
Responding to Emilah's reply, Iozif's grin fades replaced by air of puzzlement. He growls more softly to Emilah "I've heard that too but no caravan master is hiring now. I wonder what that is about."
He shruggs "Well. Perhaps they await favorable omens."
Frowning thoughtfully Iozif replies to Karoka in Orcish "Nik'o has always been morose but her death has hit him hard, he carries the past as a burden. But I think you have the right of it. We know that life IS pain, that joy is briefly won, yet the years of our lives run swifly. My Da was little past 40 winters at his death but his hair turned iron-grey before. Yon elf lives amongst humans and others not of his kind. He cries not only for the loss that happened but for us and all others here and for friends that he will not meet for centuries. This is why we know that one should live for the moment and not over care for past or future; water of the eyes does not help at all"
In orc there are two words for tears, one means tears of rage, the other tears of weakness. He avoided both.
Iozif expression grows remote, his humanity fading, his skin seems greener and fangs just a bit sharper, the indifference to suffering that all feral predators have coming towards the surface.
That damned elf is going to bring everyone down soon, doesn't he know or care that nights of light and laughter are rare and precious? Jaska, Thaddeus, and Parsifal enter. Perfect!
Seeing the two clergymen enter Iozif roars (in Common) "If any more Holy men show up this inn will become a temple and we'll all have to start singing hymns" Iozif grins and waves them but has folded up in his chair seeming to imitate Jasper in meditative mode quite unintentionaly.
Looks toward the card table Jasper may be the only card player worse than I, Of course has he ever played before?
Iozif says "Still ready to ofter the worst advice ever, Jasper."

Thanks for the opportunity.

Haldaval |

Profile is updated with story and Sheet.
Quick question about the traits, as they're a bit different in this one than in others. Are multiple Campaign traits ok? If so, do they need to be with the same NPC?
A tall elf enters the room and surveys it looking for anyone he feels like talking to. Seeing no one he recognizes, he takes a seat at a small table on the edge of the room, content to observe for the moment.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

Thaddeus gives a hearty wave to Parsifal, one of the few in town he feels a solid kinship with. He indicates that there is a spot near him, in case he wants to sit and talk.
At Iozef's comment Thaddeus comments, "Well, Iozef, if you attended more services, we would not need to bring the hymns to you." The straight look on his face makes it hard to tell whether he was serious or not.

It's okay - I'm sad to see you go, I like Ingle and I think I would have liked Magdelia too. You do what you must, though.
@Haldaval: I'm afraid I'll have to say no to multiple campaign traits - they're generally much stronger than regular traits.
I'm looking at this list, and there is little love for Sandru. Suppose it's too much to hope for somebody to trod along with a male character with the Childhood Crush (Sandru) trait...
And geez. SO. MANY. APPLICANTS.

That's cool, seemed that way to me as well. As far as Sandru goes, I did want to try the rivalry half of the relationship system with him, although i doubt it would lead to romance :)

@Thaddeus Pruitt: You can buy anything with your starting money - except for magic items (which are unavailable, anyway). If you have crafting feats, for instance, you may use your gold to make items, just as if you were crafting. But remember that it only sets your starting gold to 900 - it doesn't give you 900 more.

Ah, I hadn't noticed that, thank you. It's interesting what the little difference of "to 900 gp" and "by 900 gp" makes, yet how easily it can be missed.

Jasper Lind |

"Deal me out Ceru, I will need some money for supplies this week."
Jasper stands up with a smile to the group and quietly moves over to the bar.
"Master Pruitt, hello. It is nice to see you here, if even in such weather. Tell me, have you given more consideration to my request for a small shrine to Irori? I could build it myself of course but I don't want to give offense."

Haldaval |

Haldaval signals for Bethana. When she comes over he speaks in a low voice, "Bethana, a glass of wine please." He pauses, but before the halfling can walk away, he grabs her arm. "Bethana, Shalelu has been telling me I should try to... make friends with these people. I admit I'm at a loss to how to do this, so if you wouldn't mind finding someone who might be interested and sending them my way, I would appreciate it."
Bethana stares at him incredulously. "Okay, sure... " She walks away shaking her head.
Well, that was easier than I expected. Perhaps the evening will be productive after all.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

Thaddeus turns to listen respectively as Jasper speaks, before he responds "Mister Lind, Sir, I personally have no problem with your request. I have brought it before my father, the true Master Pruitt. For his sake he will require much more documentation beyond my suggestion of local interest." He pauses in reflection, adding "Or in his words, 'Coins do not account for their whereabouts, that's where our diligence is required', and of course he will be diligent in where they go." Knowing this answer will not please Jasper, he follows up with "You are still, however, more than welcome to continue to use our facilities for prayer."
It is at Haldaval's mention of Shalelu's name that he perks up and looks for the source, then checks the door for signs of her entry. Disappointed, he returns his attention back to Jasper.

Jasper Lind |

"Oh, I see. That is disappointing, but I will persevere. I suppose I have been too busy learning from Shalelu lately to devote time to a formal temple anyway. Her instruction has allowed me to excel in the militia, I am very grateful to her."
This last is spoken in a rush, although Jasper clearly idolizes Shalelu as a hero.
"What do you suppose has brought so many people here, and in this weather?"

Ceru |

Ceru looks up from her hand, surprised at the number of arrivals within the last few minutes (or had she been calculating her strategy for too long again?). "A lot of folks coming in from the cold--but that is a good sign yes? My papa always said those who knew better would come in from the cold, or some such thing."
She takes Jasper's hand and shuffles it back into the deck. "Fair enough, good sir, but I'll we'll have to get you taught proper." Overhearing Haldaval's request to Bethana, she interjects. "Do you play cards, good sir? We have a riveting round of Three Lantern Jump going on, and a player's seat has just opened."
Tiberiu, Emilah, and Haldu (and any other joiners in the game I missed, sorry!) should note at least one of you has in your hand a white card with a recipe for rabbit stew scribbled on it, rather than an actual playing card.

Harun Kaijitsu |

To Jasper Those are great cards. I'd spend a whole 2 silver on them.
To Emilah Really? A bear!?!? What color was it? Where was it at? Did you...
WAUA! Harun's cider goes flying and he falls/jumps/squirms out of his chair. GETitoffme! The rest of the bread goes in another direction. He notices his sister. Harun is squirming and trying to take off his shirt while still on the ground. With one arm free of his shirt, he brings the other hand to his face with a splash of bug goo. Uh... eeew. Harun notices his sister with a smirk on her face. Harun notices everyone staring at him and many of them laughing.Oh, I am so going to get you Kassara. Harun tries to flick the guts at her but they won't come off.
Harun gets his clothes back in some semblance of order and notices Bethana giving him 'the look', which is something Harun is more than familiar with. Harun blushes after looking at Emilah and says quietly, I'll need to clean this up. He heads to the kitchen for a mop and give Kassara a quick hug, gently punches her on the arm, and retreats quickly on his way.

Haldaval |

Overhearing Haldaval's request to Bethana, she interjects. "Do you play cards, good sir? We have a riveting round of Three Lantern Jump going on, and a player's seat has just opened."
"Ah... well..." I have to do this. "I don't know anything about the game. I'm sure someone else would enjoy it more..." What would Shalelu say if she could see me?
"Very well, what do I need to do?"

Iozif Henricson |

What is Jasper taking me seriously? On the other hand if he asks that he really doesn't know how to play.
Iozif replies, "The two reds are good, blacks useless, and the A's are aces very good. A good hand but now they know the gods have bless your hand and will fold unless they are better blessed or bolder liars."
"Why Thaddeus the open road, spirits to guide, Erastil to feed, Gozeh to send winds and rain to serenade me, I move in their temples all the time, services by the hour. All due honor to all the gods of course but surely they can spare one overworked lad such as I?" Iozif smiles as his orcishness fades back to normal.
Did I overhear the standoffish Haldaval right? He's asking others to bring him friends? Well I can try; the spirits bless the generous.Oh Ceru will do it, ok.
Poor Nik'o is leaving, well at least he should take his gloom with him. Bad Iozif! Be nice.
"Fairwell Nik'o may the spirits guide and comfort you."
Iozif says more gently than usual.
Seems that four come in for every two that leave.

Jaska Galahad |

Jaska takes a seat by the boisterous half orc and tips his tankard towards Iozif in toast as he evokes the names of numerous gods." Surely a lad such as yourself can't be as overworked as the Gods, friend. " He offers with a smile. " We are all serving some means beyond our own." With that he finishes off the mug of ale and wipes the froth from his mustache.

Kili Klippenshell |

A tiny gnome wearing well-weathered studded leather armor and seemingly blanketed in hundreds of tiny wooden charms that click, clack and whistle around her suddenly bursts through the doors of the Rusty Dragon.
Ignoring everyone else and everything going on, she erupts, "Oh my! Did you just see that lightning bolt? I think it just hit the top of Sandpoint Cathedral. I swear it was shaped just like that goblin's nose I saw in the Sanos Forest years ago." She giggles, "At least, his nose after Shalelu was done with it."
She looks around the Rusty Dragon at the patrons staring at her with their mouths hanging open.
"Oh, I'm so sorry. I haven't even introduced myself. You see, I'm Kili Klippenshell. Oh, and Sandpoint is soo exciting. Especially with this spectacular storm. I didn't really want to come in. I could watch lightning all night. Couldn't you? Oh, well, there's the lightning and the maps."
She pauses for a minute and looks around the room taking in the sheer number of people. Her head bounces, pony-tail swinging side-to-side as she looks quickly around the room. The charms hanging from her ears seem to moan in protest to the motion as she continues, "You see. I just love maps. They're soo cool. So many things to see. Those places to go. Oh, and you know what I heard in Magnimar. Yes, I heard something about maps. Maps in Sandpoint."
She pauses for a moment as her nose picks up a deliciously spicy scent coming from the kitchen. Her gnomish desire to savor a new delight for her senses wars with her terrible love of maps. The maps win.
"Oh! Maps, maps, maps. And, best of all...can you guess? YES! Gnome maps. Oh, I am so excited to arrive in Sandpoint. And, tomorrow, I'm definitely going to The Way North to see Veznutt. Yes, Veznutt Parooh. Isn't that just a darling name by the way. I hear Veznutt has the best maps. The best maps in Varisia. All the way from Whistledown...my home by the way...to Korvosa...I really don't think I want to go there, I hear such terrible things about the queen...and up to..."
She looks around at the patrons again. Horribly disappointed that none of them seem to share her love of maps.
"Well, never mind. Of course there's more than just maps. There is Shalelu of course. I'm really hoping to see her again. I remember her telling me she often comes to Sandpoint and The Rusty Dragon. Is she here? Do any of you know her?"

Anen Elaradre |

Anen has finished stretching, and noting that the tavern is quickly filling, moves to the center of the stage and begins singing slowly in a smoky alto voice.
Perform: Sing: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
I'm going to be using lightly adapted pop songs (with an occasional original song as I can) throughout the game. This seemed a good one for this occasion!
Outside the rain
And the heart skips a beat
So you're lonely
Creature of the night
It's been almost a week
Can you love me only
Look at me, for a very long time
Long enough to know
Love is a word - I've been trying to find
Words don't matter
They don't matter at all
Maybe it's only a dream
I don't want to feel that
Well it's one more link - in the chain
I don't believe that
So you're still lonely
You say that it's been forever
Maybe you never knew me -
Maybe you thought that
I'd never change - but
You know I'm changing
You're wrong
And it's been like dying
No love's that hard to find
And I'm tired of
I'm tired of trying
Outside the rain
And the heart skips a beat
So you're lonely
Look in my eyes
Touch my face
There's no one
That can take my place
Look in my eyes, touch my face
There's no one that
Can ever replace that - heartache
Take away that heartache
Love is a word that some entertain
If you find it
You have won the game
(Outside The Rain, by Stevie Nicks)
She curtsies, and smiling at the crowd, continues to sing several more songs. At one point she slips a wink and a smile to Ceru, who she knows as another friend dear to Ameiko.

Iozif Henricson |

ninjad! before Anen sings he says and does this. No interupting Anen!
Returning Jaska's toast Iozif says No doubt they are busy indeed, friend, but still I follow the spirits and there are so many gods I cannot attend to them all. Most must manage without and they seem to have done alright so far." His tone is light yet seems oddly serious.
A whirlwind burst in, no its a unfamilar gnome.
Gah , I thought I was over enthused at times
I surrender Kili, against such a barrage I can do nothing else! I an Iozif Henricson, wagonborn and bred.
As to maps they are very pretty tools leading to great places but alas often to great peril when the artist decided to be pretty rather than true or knowledgable. I prefer itineraries often more detailed and accurate, easier to note when not. iozif smiles to show no offense meant.
"As to Shalelu she is not here and I've not seen her. She may not be in town, coming and going like the wind."
Iozif looks a little stunned as this bundle of energy overwhelms even him but doesn't shut him up.

Jaska Galahad |

Immediately sensing the seriousness veiled beneath Iozif's light tone, Jaska doesn't press the issue and smiles charmingly."I am Jaska. A pleasure to meet you." He offers honestly.
Jaska sets up in his seat and makes sure his face is froth free as Anen's smoky voice filled the tavern air. Her voice sent chills down his spine, and he said a quick thank you to Desna, for allowing him to hear such a grand performance in this small town. At the end of her rain song, Jaska claps enthusiastically and whistles a shrill cat call.
As the alluring half elf lass continues, Jaska retrieves his lute and plays a gentle accompaniment to Anen's haunting voice gratefully, his eyes locked on her. He smiles and nod's politely when she returns his glance.

Thaddeus Pruitt |

Thaddeus calls back to the vociferous Half-orc, "Well then, Iozef, it would appear that there are more holy men present than only the ones who wear it openly with pride."
Back to Jasper, he queries "So, you say you are taught by Shalelu?" he darts glances around, "What... um, what stuff.. kind of stuff does she teach?" he tries desperately to look casual in his questions.
-----------------------
As the gnome enters, he darts a quick look at the door, but does not see what he's looking for, and returns to his conversation.
Just then Anen begins to sing, and the words hit Thaddeus with force, and he applauds vehemently, standing to show his appreciation. "Simply majestic, Milady, majestic."
In the calm he hears everyone that seems familiar with the elven woman, explain how she may have left, and not knowing if she'll be back. His mood turns dour, and he begins to sulk into his wine.
