I concur with Mistress. Wizards can, so witches should be able to.
I was hoping this thread was about role playing that "communion." My male witch gets his first play time tomorrow. His familiar is a scorpion. He is flavored as a."voodoo witch" so I intend to make that communion as creepy as possible.
Any suggestions?

I played a female witch with a rather disturbing past and a scorpion familiar.
She communed by having the scorpion climb into her mouth and drip poison down her throat.
Another option is to have the Scorpion empower you via stinging you in either prominent veins or the eyes over and over again until "you can feel the might of a true bokor" in your veins.
Just some ideas.

The Witch communes with her familiar for an hour to prepare her spells. Assuming she doesn't prepare all of her spells at once, can she take 15 minutes to prepare spells later in the day?
Actually, I seem to remember reading a Dev-Post not too long ago that said the witch CANNOT fill empty spell slots later because that's a class feature of the wizard (which might be shared with magus as both basically use the same spellbook rules). A famliar on the other hand is NOT a spellbook (D'uh).
Unfortunately, I don't remember where I read that. I'll try to look for it but don't get your hopes up.

Communing with a mutt familiar (i.e. fox, which has previously been identified as functionally equivalent to a dog with the young template):
"Who's a good boy?! YOU're a good boy! Yes you are! Such a good boy!..."
A lot of tummy-rubbing is required as well.
Afterthought: This can actually be play-acted at the game table, with the appropriate pet assistance.

See, and that is why I hate prepared casters and spend so much time trying to figure out clever ways to get Witch spells out of a Bard/Sublime Chord. (So far my best solutions have been begging and Wyrm Wizard.)
Speaking of Witches and minor irritations, does the Witch's patron teach the Witch spells like a mentor or grant the Witch spells like a deity?

I'm not sure if there are any scorpions that do this, but there are several types of creatures that carry their young on their backs.
So every morning your PC's familiar has a fresh batch of baby scorpions on it's back, one per spell, and the PC has to eat them one at a time.

Morbid and very insect mentality. I like it.

When preparing spells for the day, a wizard can leave some of these spell slots open. Later during that day, he can repeat the preparation process as often as he likes, time and circumstances permitting. During these extra sessions of preparation, the wizard can fill these unused spell slots. He cannot, however, abandon a previously prepared spell to replace it with another one or fill a slot that is empty because he has cast a spell in the meantime. That sort of preparation requires a mind fresh from rest. Like the first session of the day, this preparation takes at least 15 minutes, and it takes longer if the wizard prepares more than one-quarter of his spells.

RAW, leaving slots open to prepare later is only applicable to clerics and wizards (also alchemists, but they only need a minute per "spell" prepared). Although the magic section wasn't written with prepared arcane casters other than wizards in mind, the fact that the divine section specifically calls out clerics when there's other prepared divine classes (namely druid) means that witches can't leave open slots for later preparation.

Scorpions really do carry their young on their back; however, they are SO tiny and white as to be almost invisible to the naked eye or, at least, to the casual glance.

Heh, and that's how I always saw Feiya "communing" with Daji too.
