Fun with rings!

So, Ring of Spellstoring. Wonderful item, something none of my characters are going to go without once they amass enough gold. But, you might ask, how can I make this wonderful, wonderful creation something fun to role play with?! I'll tell you!

Say you are in a situation where you need to inspire some fear. Nothing but pure un-adultarated terror. Sounds fun, right? So, how can you do it? Well, this is what I say!

Go to the local market. Find someone who seems important, and make a show of yourself. March around declaring yourself and your titles and deads. Deplomacy them into getting on their knees and kissing your ring for the wonderful and great things you have accomplished.

Have a Maxamized + Intensified Burning Hands in your ring. Activate it when they kiss it. Preferably so that you are facing a wall when you do so, with noone between you and the wall aside from this "important looking" fellow.

You get a nice, crispy corpse perfect for throwing into the crowd as you laugh madly and dash away!

Um... uh... hm...

...do you have any idea how appropriate your avatar is?

yea, seriously, what was that all about?

Oh Gods, that's something a player in my party would do. Let's not give the AntiPaladin a ring of spellstoring then.

I've done worse.

If this was Facebook, I'd "Like" this right away.

Silver Crusade

oooh yea, a lot of terror there.

Guy is kneeling in front of you in a position where no one can see what he is really doing and suddenly he bursts into flames. People will think your junk sprays fire and run away when you pee. Aieee its the burning pee man. lol

So how about some real fun with rings.

Cool and unusual rings you have made, read about, or seen in play.

I got these from an old dragon magazine article {Bazaar of the Bizarre}

Ring of Clothes. Say the command word and your clothing changes into whatever you desire. Like a hat of disguise but the clothes are real. The old clothes vanish. Clothes vanish when you take them off.

Ring of Reverse Curses. Pronounce any curse you desire upon someone. That curse is also visited upon you. Does not work if you are immune or effectively immune to the curse you pronounce.

How about a cursed Ring of Nudity? Works exactly as a Ring of Chameleon Power except in inappropriate social situations, whereupon all your clothes seem to disappear.

Ring of water walking is fun, especially when it's on the party tank, everyone else is making swimming checks in the raging river and the guy in full plate walks across it.

I once played a dwarf who was drowning (couldnt make a swim check for the life of me ) and was hauled out by a guy in heavy armor wearing a ring of water breathing and a ring of free action, he ran across the bottom of the pool, grabbed me and climbed back up and out.
Makes for some weird visuals if you have the imagination.

Ring of the Ram is loads of fun, Pushed people off cliffs, bashed open doors, knocked ogres on their butts and even tripped a dragon, until i ran out of charges with the dang thing. Then I kept it, by then it's use and the fact I had it had become well known, and I used a ring of the ram with no charges to bluff/intimidate our way out of a nasty bar fight.
"You don't want to make me use this ring now, do ya?"

Ive wanted a ring of telekenesis forever! Seems never to happen, but it's the ultimate utility ring. Any number of shennanigans can ensue.

I've always liked the ring of the ram but now I've a new image with Harry's rings of the item.

A ring of presdigitation is a nice idea too.

that would be rather weak,

Most arcane caster have that as an at will spell anyway.
I guess maybe for a cleric or a fighter or a rogue, but why/how?

It's a great way for a rogue to spice up a magic act if they've taken performance stage magic.

Such wonderful fun.

I was designing a ring of maximise spell for my cleric/sorcerer for an emergency healing, no need to get that bulky old rod out, just lay on hands.
