Kewl.

That is cool. And kinda sad as in it is a memorial park for a kid who died in a car accident.

Moved thread.

Sovereign Court

best memorial ever thougb. Kids got bragging points in the afterlife.

I'd picnic there. Well, I would if I lived anywhere near it. I googled the park and found a page about it here, along with some additional photos.

I went there a couple years ago! My wife and I went on a road trip every year, so one year we decided to go there. It wasn't quite what we expected, but it was definitely a neat park. I definitely recommend going there if it's not too far away.

Grand Lodge

WTF? I live less than an hour away from this place. How did I NOT know about this???

My best friend lives in Waterloo, IL, near St. Louis. Next time I visit him I might have to take a trip over and look at this place.

simple, because it's so close it's easy to ignore.

Doing local mini-vacations IE weekend stuff is great.

Liberty's Edge

Only 15ish minutes away from me! I've actually gone here to plan sessions of Pathfinder before. It's relaxing and inspiring to see kids and their parents pretending together. There's this gigantic dragon head you can climb on, as well as tons of Labyrinth-esque creatures lurking up in treetops or around corners, and you have to explore the castle at least once to find the secret passage, and to visit the monster in its lair. Cool to see something from a small college town featured like this.

If you're in the area to visit this park, be sure to stop by local gaming store Castle Perilous, nearby Giant City State Park, and artisan community Makanda. (Rainmaker Art is too cool, and it has a weird garden out back to explore, too.) There's a comic shop, as well, and weekly LARPs and boffer weapon battles in various locations. Southern Illinois is not a terrible place to be a gamer. ^_^

Love it.

Courtney!:

I apologize if I already know you and just dont recognize the forum tag, but we run PFS sessions just about every other Saturday at Castle P from 10:30-2 and then from 2-6.

Consider this an official invite to come play. Also, you could join the FB page for the group as well if youd like. Search for "Southern Illinois Pathfinder Society".

If we have met, then this is Seth...if not...then Im still Seth ;)

Kewl. We have a dinosaur park back home and I am always wanting to add wings to the durn critters :)

Out west we have a different mindset on travel time. Am I right to assume about 3 hours from Schaumberg, IL (and my cousins)?

Grand Lodge

About 6 hours, actually. Carbondale is down near the southern tip of the state.
