Ashes at Dawn - Ramoska Arkminos

Carrion Crown

I was just getting ideas together for running the first AP and I was thinking of a vampire that might actually ally with the PC. Then it occurred to me I haven't read all the previews yet and there he was, Ramoska Arkminos.

Is the the same Ramoska Arkminos from AP #8?

From the write up it looks like we both had similar ideas.

Yes, it is he, the TPK from AP#8. GRRRRRRR.

And now's he's probably gained some levels after slaughtering parties that refused to let the vampire go.

Naaaaa, that's just a real common name for nosferatu. It's like John Smith for them. :P

Yeah, it's the same guy. I'm glad someone noticed. Arkminos and his boss might be kind of Mary Sue characters of mine, so I made sure he snuck his way into the outline. And yeah, he's been busy (and might have taken some advantage of the APG classes) since he ditched out those whinny Urgathoa cultists in "Seven Days to the Grave"...

Now that I think of it... he doesn't have a good track record with death cultists at all.

That's awesome, I loved that guy, so creeepy!

Your Mary Sue is a rat-toothed nosferatu. You get to put him in a popular published adventure. Then you get to do it again. And you get paid for it.

Awesome.

Muahahahahaaaaa!!!

Oops. Did I say that out loud?

What's really odd is, based on the outline, he seems to be working with the PCs. Well I guess it's not *too* strange - a vampire who's looking to off a vampire killer. Sorta like Dracula hiring an assassin to take care of Van Helsing, I guess.

Preview of AP#47 - Ashes at Dawn

This strange researcher, Ramoska Arkminos, claims to know

much of the necromancers, and offers the PCs insights into
their nature if the PCs uncover the identity of the city’s serial
killer, who proves to be hunting only vampires.

It's funny because this is exactly the caracter I used to attack Kendra in my game two weeks ago, so her father could become friend with the PCs. Ramoska attacked Kendra one night at a dance under the star. Ramoska fled, but I'd like to have him come back at one point, he is just right creepy.

This is how I made my PCs to know the professor, and be trusted by him. Since my campaign has started in 2003, I couldn't use the background offered in the CC players guide.

Another miniquest with the prof, and their name will be on his Will :)

I love recurring characters! The alchemist class fits Ramoska's background so well, I'm tempted to convert him fully to alchemist. Sadly, Ramoska was destroyed in my last run of Seven Days to the Grave (curse those paladins! curse 'em!) so it looks like I'll be swapping him for his distant cousin Aksomar Sonimkra :P On the upside, my more recent Crimson Throne game has the party just about to enter the Urgathoan temple so the nosferatu has a second chance to live on to reach his full Carrion Crown glory! And this time, the party doesn't have one of those blasted paladins . . .

Eh, my guys in Seven Days to the Grave only destroyed a Simulacrum. At least that is my story and I am sticking to it. :D
