If a PC with an intelligent magic item is being dominated (or otherwise controlled by another creature) and begins acting in a way that conflicts with the item's goals and alignment (as per the intelligent item rules) can the item attempt to counter-mind control the character?
I would think Yes. Just decide which form of mind control is higher level and That would be the mind control in charge.
I think technically intelligent items can attempt to dominate teir welder whenver they want to. Theres jus tno reasonf or them to if your acting in a way that they like.
So if Bob is wielding Globoghar the Goblin Razor, that exists for the sole purpose of killing Goblins. if Bob gets Dominated to start hugging Goblins you bet its going to try and Dominate him.
that said i hav eno idea how to determin the power level of the Ego domination vs a spell
That's what I thought too. I just don't know how to figure out which effect is more powerful. The rules don't give any indication. They don't even mention if you could cast something like Suggestion of someone who had been Dominated or Possessed or taken over by an item.
Would the suggestion be being cast on the dominated person, or the dominator? Who's saves do you use?
