Bashing Finish (Combat)
You follow a powerful blow from your weapon with an opportunistic bash from your shield.
Prerequisites: Improved Shield Bash, Shield Master, Two-Weapon Fighting, base attack bonus +11.
Benefit: Whenever you score a critical hit with a melee weapon, you can make a shield bash attack against the same target using the same bonus as a free action.
Would a critical hit with a shield bash count as an attack with a melee weapon, therefore allowing a character an unlimited amount of attacks if each of them is a confirmed critical threat?

shields are not melee weapons , even though you can use them as such
just like a chair is not a melee weapon but can be used as a weapon

If you would wield a chair in one hand and a shield in the other and score a critical with the chair I'd allow a opportunistic bash with your shield though...
I would allow only one free attack action from shieldbash in any circumstance.

Consider the following in determining if they are a weapon:
- The weapons table include as light or one-handed melee weapons.
- The fighter can benefit from combat training with them
- They can be enchantet with melee weapon enhancements.
Seems to me that they are very much melee weapons.
On the original question:
I believe that it is possible. But as it require you to keep critting, it is higly unlikely that get a lot of attacks.
A shield can't get a higher crit range than 19-20 so I can't see how it can be abused.

Assuming you always hit on a 19, and that you have something to auto-confirm crits, you have a 10% chance of your extra attack generating another attack. So you have 10% of generating a second free attack, 1% chance of having a third free attack, .1% of a fourth, etc. Theoretically, it could be infinite, and if you were designing a whole 20th level party, it would probably be possible to stack abilities so that you could be sure of getting a crazy number of bonus attacks, but the resources expended wouldn't justify the damage done.
I once built a 3.5 character around some ability (I forget what) which let him make an extra attack (with the same weapon, IIRC) on a crit, and I had a large crit range. I still only got 1-2 extra attacks per turn. Chain-critting is hard.

There was a feat in complete warrior that allowed gave you an extra attack if you crit with an unarmed strike. The new attack used the same bonuses/penalties as the triggering attack.

No.
The GM is supposed to put a "reasonable limit" on the number of free actions that can typically be taken during a single turn. I typically limit them to two in my games if one of them is speaking, and one in other cases.
Otherwise there are lots of things that work "as a free action" that just become silly.

This is theoretically possible, and I actually encourage it. While you're focusing on the shield, what you want to do is make sure you're dual-wielding with a high crit-range weapon, like a Rapier or Scimitar. That 15-20 on all iterative attacks will go a long way towards getting your Flurry of Shields. Having allies that can grant you rerolls and extra attacks helps, too. A Witch with the Fortune Hex in the party would ROCK with this, simply because of the extra chance at critical hits. Combine with Haste, and the ability for allies to give you free attacks, and I could definitely see a sword/board Fighter with this feat getting TONS of attacks. Go Dual-Weapon fighter, just because you eventually get 2 attacks with a standard action (or Mobile Fighter for the Whirlwind and Full Attacks, if you're willing to wait longer).

Yes, but the DM is in charge of how many free actions you can take in a round and is perfectly (there is a rule for it) allowed to limit additional free actions at his discretion.

Are, I was thinking the same thing. At that point it is either, hopefully, almost dead, or we are about to lose when it stops toying with us so I would stop and ask the DM could I make a heal check to see if it looks badly hurt. If he says no(it is not hurt too badly) I make a 180, but if it is then I figure it will be dead by the next round, and I am thankful for my string of crits.

It'll certainly trigger a lot in a high-crit build. But that's a very different thing from self-triggering a lot. With enough party support, you might manage to get 3-4 bonus attacks per round, but you're still nowhere near infinite attacks

Actually, they are, they're listed as Martial melee weapons when using them for shield bashing. Light shields are Light weapons, Heavy shields are one-handed weapons

When it happens it will be epic. Be sure to scream some ridiculous phrase like "1000 dishes falling from heaven attack!" when you get to the 6th bonus bash.
Do it.
Absolutely agreed there.
Also, I love the idea of naming the repetitive shield bash. People should name their attacks more.
