Last night was really, really weird.

My brain isn't used to being home yet, so in my half-sleep state I was convinced that I was still in Europe. Even worse, since I didn't know what city I was in, it decided that I must be sleeping on a train. Never mind that there were no train noises nor vibrations; I just must be on a train.

So I got up 2-3 times, and each time in my half-dazed state I was thinking, "OK, which way is it to the bathroom again? And I need to make sure not to put anything down so I don't lose it. Wait, where are the kids?"

And of course I'd start worrying and it would jolt me with just enough adrenaline to wake me up enough to remember that I was at home.

But boy, what a surreal night...

EDIT: And hoo, boy, wandering around on that train nekkid...

At least you were secretly nekkid at home!

I prefer overtly naked, no need to hide it.

You were scarring Imps for life again?

Even I would overcome my fear of boats for that.

So here's another "fun" phenomenon of being gone for several weeks and going to much farther northern climes (37˚N for Albany, 56˚N for Copenhagen): Sunrise and sunset.

When we left, sunrise was 4:54 am. On the trip, we routinely had light well before 5 am, plus some days with sunsets after 10 pm.

So, we're back, and sunrise has moved to 5:54 am.

It is an utterly bizarre feeling to leave when it's light in the morning when you get up, and get back when it's dark. Just makes you feel like way more time has passed than you thought...

I have gotten into belly dance in addition to burlesque. I am loving this.

I opened my laptop hoping to dust it a bit, but I could not reach the ventilator. The keyboard was blocking the access and it was attached to the board with tapes that I could not reach. If I had third arm I could try to delicately pull them out, but there is a non-zero chance I wouldn't be able to do that.

I put the laptop back and it still works, so I call it a partial success, but it really could use an real internal cleaning...

YOU belly dance or you just dig watching it.

So, apparently I will need to remove the keyboard from the upper part from outside and then I will be able to disconnect the tapes easily...

Also that screw in central part was holding the DVD and I could have pulled it safely to get more space. Huh. No tape connecting it?

Thank you YouTube

Should I go to pub and risk getting caught by rain, or should I stay at home where it is dry and not as terribly warm at it was...

I should go get some groceries, though.

I think we can all agree that we dodged a bullet when this didn't happen at the top of the page.

I should have been more specific with this post, I must admit.

But I HAVE been going to the gym a fair amount of late. I am not quite where I was in the beforetime, but I AM seeing some results.

Maybe you didnt dodge so much as miss out...?

I love watching it.

But I HAVE undergone some basic training from the lovely ladies of antipode, a belly dancing troupe that I have encountered every now and again, usually at Connecticon.

You think drill sergeants are tough? They ain't got nothing on a serious dance instructor. Who WILL drill you on the differences between belly dancing, popping/locking, and pole dancing during the lesson.

My Tae Kwon Do instructor was a grand master (or whatever the TKD equivalent was). He firmly believed in full contact at all times.

Yet even HE said, "Never fight a dancer. They'll kick your a$$."

and look good while doing so.

I made an evil monk who specialized in a dancing fighting style. The last thing she said to many of her victims was "prepare to become art, darling."

Bob Ross Captain and Big Tyler picked the wrong day to try to push me around.

Had to go Big Time on them.

For the record, every day is the wrong day to try to push me around.

Well, I'm surprised at just how much I got done today, considering it's my first day back at work after 25 days off, but at this point I'm totally ready to give up and call it a day.

Does going Big Time involve a sledgehammer at all?

I saw a hedgehog on my way home from HEMA.

Yeah, yeah, if I would go I'd complain about rain and being overloaded by human people contact either way.
