He seems to be the type that gets grey and white rather early. Like in his fifties or even late forties.

All of this talk of Facebook friends kind of makes me want to find and add FaWtLers on FB. :P

I have a FB but finding me is the real challenge. I like having some mystery. I am however already on the fawtl steam and discord.

Cagey response I can't make a pun or otherwise bad joke out of that one.

So Captain Yesterday is not a fan. Nor is he a bucket. Or a list. So what is he?

I did construction work while I was in high school. I'm sure I was about useless. I could break down a wall if you pointed me at one.

I've been awake for about an hour, but that's only four hours of sleep and I would really like to not feel dizzy anymore.
It's possible that I consumed a bit too much caffeine on the road yesterday.

Due to construction on the street outside my parking deck, I'm legally allowed to drive on the sidewalk for a while.

It loses some of its luster when it's allowed...

You're already way ahead of about 90% of the high schoolers we hired this year.

Ah, gotta love good ol' U.S. healthcare.

Our current health care provider (Anthem Blue Cross) decided to switch mail-order pharmacies (from Express Scripts to IngenioRx). Of course they sent us emails reassuring us that we wouldn't even notice the change, as all of our prescriptions would be "seamlessly" migrated, with "a few exceptions".

So I get back from Europe, and NONE of my prescriptions are listed. And I contact them, and they say, "Oh, yeah, your doctor needs to re-send the prescriptions for all of those."

Considering that four of them were cholesterol and asthma medication (so not exactly "dangerous"), I wonder what their definition of a "seamless" transition is...

Slept a little more. WW made pancakes. Unpacked. Need to go run some errands and wash and vacuum the car. I feel a bit like I'm sleepwalking, or in one of those dreams in which things seem mostly normal and yet somehow wrong, and then flock of fanged scissors fly overhead.

Major system is not working, causing multiple people to be unable to work at all. That's the outage. The "bridge" is just another term for a conference call.

but when will you be in the NY office?!?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

That office is in another division, so unless there is a major effort, like moving the office to another location, it is unlikely I'll get sent to that one. Then again, the Cincinnati office is in a separate division and I've been sent there three times in the last nine months.

Speaking of IT, color me ecstatic that in the latest breach (Capital One's), everyone is finally asking, "Er, so why, exactly, are you STORING 14 years of applicant data at all!?!?!?!"

Much as I mock Global Megacorporation, we have a clear-cut data retention policy that boils down to, "If you don't have a legitimate business purpose for it, don't save it. And even if you do, delete it after a predefined expiration period."
And I think the longest such period is 18 months.

There's a reason every time a site offers to save my card I say, "No, thanks!"
(Yeah, I still need to leave my card with subscriptions, but minimizing exposure and all that.)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

And the last megacorp I worked at also had very clear cut retention policies, as well as well-defined repositories for items that needed to be excepted from the policies, as well as automatic systems that would seek and destroy if you weren't following the rules.

This company...not so much.

Me: So have you given any more thought to your character for the Azlant campaign?
WW: I have, actually. I've been thinking it would be fun to play a mad Sheltie alchemist.
Me: . . . ?
WW: Not a Sheltie. What's it called? Selkie. That.
Me: Either way.

The Debate Tonight:

Seriously, CNN, what the heck. Are you just gonna roll right over everything Buttigieg is gonna say tonight with commercials, or you finally gonna let the man, you know, talk.

I have no horse in this race, and it is overwhelmingly irritating.

EDIT: switched over to a Twitch streamer I've never heard of watching the thing and I have zero regrets. So much better.
