Blegh! Sounds horrid in my humble opinion.

Then again I'm a bit of a "beer conservative" ^^'
Stouts are supposed to be chocolate or liquorice only! :p

That makes me a beer reactionary, to my intense shame.

Stout is supposed to taste of stout, IMO.

You do have to be carefull with what kind of fruit you plant. THe people that owned the house I live in now, planted a bramble in the garden. They didnt properly maintain it, and now its *EVERYWHERE*. And its a real bother to keep pruning shoots growing between the other plants.

So not a tea stout? I had one of those as well as a tea IPA and a peach pale ale.

Not bad, ta - hope you're well, and enjoy your dinner!

I'm drinking Christmas Pudding Stout. I wasn't sure it was a good idea when I bought it, and I think I was right - it tastes very odd indeed.

I've got lots of elder trees at the bottom of my garden, so making elderberry cordial is one of my regular autumn activities. This year, the berries went mouldy before I had a chance to turn them into cordial, though, which was a pain.

That sounds awesome.

I can't abide fruit-flavored beers (Apricot-Weisse, Quince IPA, etc) but I have a hard time passing by a flavored stout without trying it.

My all-time favorite was the Chicory Stout that Dogfish Head used to make, but I can't find it anymore.

Last month, I got to try a peanut butter pretzel stout that one of our local Dallas-area breweries had in limited release. It was weird, but not bad.

There's a small brewery in my Mother-in-Law's neighborhood (called "Small", seriously) that makes a rooiboos red ale. It was really nice during the 100+ days in August.

I just spent two and a half hours with a pair of hedge clippers, pruning the [redacted] out of every piece of shrubbery on this property. Most of which was already ridiculously overgrown and unkempt when we moved in this summer.

I have no idea what I'm doing, actually; I just sort of eyeball it and hope for the best. I understand, theoretically, that there is a science to how one is supposed to prune in order to discourage growth in some directions and encourage it in others. I understand further that there is also an art to doing it with grace and a smidgen of aesthetic sensibility.

I have neither the science nor the art, simply a desire to not have my house look like I'm sulking because Halloween is over and done.

I also now have really itchy forearms.

Because the GM is intoxicated, I don't think the game I'm in will advance much. So I'll hang around for a bit.

Yea, you don't plant a blackberry bramble in your garden, unless you want to turn it into a bramble patch...

We had lots of blackberry vines around our house when I was a kid, but my grandfather distilled his own blackberry brandy in the garage. He also foraged mushrooms in our woods (he said that some of the mushrooms we had in northern Wisconsin also grew in his corner of Poland, but I don't know if that's true or not). I really wish the age gap hadn't been quite so wide, and that he'd lived long enough to share some of his skills.

Who did the tea stout?

I tend to avoid flavoured stouts (no disrespect to them as likes 'em), but that sounds interesting...

Yea, its partially the reason I spend so much time out at the old folks farm (well, that and them being family and all ^^').

I still want to have at least a modicum of contact with nature. Its not like I'm advocating for a survivalist lifestyle or anything, but I do want to have some basic contact with the food I eat and the nature I enjoy. So just doing those small things like going mushroom or berry gathering, tapping birch sap or going fishing/hunting really goes a long way for me.

Though apparently Borowik appears in North America.

You know... The GM John's talking about is me =P

For the record: I drank 3 whiskies, 1 Tequilia, 1 wine, a little beer, leaving my bag at my colleagues house,(I'm a little absent minded) one gin, one more whiskey after...

On a company Barbecue. That's why there was radio silence from my end.

And of course he was talking about PBP. I told everyone I was too intoxicated to post and just signed off.

I can identify some edible plants around Singapore but for what good it does me since it's an offense to forage in Singapore.

Told you I spotted blueberry bushes in San Diego.

I planted tons of blueberries in Seattle.

Why is it an offense to forage?

"Don't live off the land; instead pay money to keep the machine of economics running."

And if the reason is "because poison berries, etc" - that's called Darwin, not safety.

Final Fantasy Tactics - War of the Lions: EMERGENCE (Hack) is f%#!ing amazeballs!

They change Ramza into the "noble" class in chapter 1, and over the course of the game he slowly upgrades to a dark knight.

They rebalanced all the jobs, and changed the job tree, and added new stuff.

It's just...so much better!

** spoiler omitted **

If they threw a new story on top of this I'd pay top dollar to play a real game. But they didn't. So there's that. But there's still all the War of the Lions extras.

Wait wait wait I love FFT what system is this for where I get this upgraded version?

It wasn't exactly a vacation. It was more dealing with family matters. Overall it went better then expected anyways. Took advantage of my employee discount and stayed at a very nice hotel for cheaper then price of a crappy hotel. Beat staying at family's home and cramming a bunch of us into small spaces by like ten fold.

Went with my sister and 1 of my brothers. Much easier going with them then my mom. she drives me crazy with any prolonged exposure same for my uncle who talks like Mojo jojo (power puff girls).

So overall better then expectations.

Huh…

I kind thought John was talking about a local face-to-face game.

The whole GMing while drunk thing isn't for everyone…
I personally enjoy doing it, but I can't really say for those on the other side of the screen, so I generally don't do so.
Also…while I'm drunk my adventures tend to become less adventure-y and more fanfic-y, which isn't to everyone's tastes either…(Not to speak how down right dirty they can get ^^')

But seems you might have sauced cat yesterday, I would think even I would be getting silly with that amount of booze in me ^^
Really hoped you had a great time at the company barbeque yesterday…

It's going to be my niece's first Christmas, and very likely my grandmother's last. And we're going to celebrate the niece's first birthday a week early while we are there. (Her birthday is on Twelfth Night, but we fly home on the 30th.)
I'm so damned excited I can barely breathe.

Oh, in other news, at our family council meeting this afternoon, Whingey Wizzard's mother and I ganged up on him and finally prevailed upon him to go get his eyes checked. He is out at his appointment RIGHT NOW. He's needed them for years but has been avoiding dealing with it, because he's always had perfect eyes and perfect teeth, and the best way to approach fifty is firmly in denial about the aging process.

And I'm making French onion soup for dinner, because I want to give my children the opportunity to turn up their noses and complain that it's disgusting and they hate it.

OK a story about drunk GMing:

Once us pathfinders went on a chalet, and of course the guys had too much to drink.

I like early nights, so I turned in, but one guy said he was keen on running while drunk, and couple of drunk pathfinders were happy to take that up.

I heard descriptions of someone's character (that player is cheesy) "Turns into a flaming ball of cheese and rolls into the enemies causing them to explode in fiery death!"

I guess the descriptions were wtf :P

Also when the GM needs help making out the numbers on the d20... Heh.

So they started at 11 pm.. were playing until 4 am...then my BF went to bed as well. We're not sure if they actually finished that PFS scenario.

Then did a whole lot of drinking. And yakked happy drunken shop. I didn't realize one of my colleagues was in training to fly recreationally, then it was a whole conversation about air crash disasters.
