People getting married always think it's really f!&$ing important for some reason.
Like....too f~$~ing important.
Like.....
"we're getting married New Year's Eve cos that's when we met....sorry if you all had plans, but now you're coming to our wedding.....hey, why's nobody at our wedding?"
Then, mysteriously, they're divorced in 2 years!

In other words, do what you gotta do.

That's why I am in favor of eloping!

Yeah; more money for a cool honeymoon.

I love the word 'escucheon.'

How are things looking?

Good news, taig!

I'll be checking out apartment options in the northwest during a visit up that way next month. I've seen no movement on a change of orders for me, so it looks like I'll be stationed up there without my family for almost 2 years.

On the bright side, it's closer to Paizo and a couple of other friends I have up there and it's a relatively short, and almost affordable, flight back down to San Diego, so I'll be able to see my family more often than if I was going overseas. Gotta look at the postive side of things, right?

Sorry to hear about your situation, Paris. At least it is stateside, and you'll be able to make visits more easily.

Putting this here as a placemarker.

I hope everyone's having a pleasant weekend. I'm off for a day of wine-tasting and picnicking at local wineries with friends. I hope today is as sunny and beautiful as the last two days have been!

I hope your day has been great. It sounds nice.

I hate those f&#&ers from the Lowe's Home Improvement Videos.

Your cave below the sink looks totally different than mine. Mine was put in by a drunk lemur on crystal meth. BLERRG!!! AND now I'm adding to the horror of the Laboratory of Mr. Feebs.....my excuse is that I'm not a plumber......what's yours, Lemur boy?!?!

Video directions are the worst. Everyone is smiling and sipping coffee and the places are immaculately clean and all the parts go together with no problem and everything is perfect. That's not how my life works.

The fun thing was that family Thanksgiving gathering was held between the elopement and the Big Reveal. They wore their rings, which are quite nontraditional and nobody thought they were wedding rings. My brother-in-law was nervous as hell the whole time and nobody could understand why. Poor guy!

I know.
It's either these two vapid DINK's who vibe like they couldn't get enough torque to get a lugnut off a tire then want to know if they can drive to work for a week on the teeny temporary spare that comes with the cars nowadays because the manufacturers wanted to save cash, or it's some crusty old actual "plumber" who could do this with his hands in manacles because it's his function in life.
And why do they all have Jersey accents?

Well, yeah, I am. But I feel totally unready to run a big encounter tonight.

I wisht this escucheon would set. I wanna get this over with, while the ibuprofen I took is still sublimating the pain from yesterday.

God, I'm so old and feeble. When did that happen? I disgust myself.
There's a little Drill Sargent in my head, screaming at me right now.

My favorite was a "husband/wife team" putting up a garage door opener in one hour, calling each other 'honey', smiling, hugging. Right.

Two ways to look at it:

1)crap out cos you feel like shit,

2)go ahead, maybe you'll own it or maybe you'll mess up, but if you mess up at least you have the fact that you feel like crap as an excuse.
Doing math sick.....not fun.

I'm not ever even going to attempt a garage door opener. No f!*#ing way. They lie, this is easy. They're just trying to sell stuff.

The Puffin will keep me honest on the math. He has all the stats in his head. He knows other player's characters better than they know their own. It's scary.

They want you to buy the stuff, try to do it yourself, then come crawling back for their installation services. Ka-CHING!

I'd crap out if I felt so inclined.

I'm crazy though; if I'm totally unprepared, I try to run anyway and see if I can pull it off. I call it the "Eye of the Bullshit Tiger."

That actually bothers me. I wish people realized what all their characters are capable of. Having to remind the elemental bloodline sorceress that she can change her elemental spells to cold type automagickally or the rogue getting a bonus on checks vs traps equal to half level... blah blah.

At least they're starting to pick it up now, after lots of reminders.

What scares me is that you don't even see their character sheets. You remember their attack bonuses from hearing them at the table. Same with feats, etc. You know their saves from their class and level and can guesstimate the abilities if you don't know for sure. You do it all in your head.

Years of GMing... but also building my own characters and monsters. I think it gets to be second nature when you do a lot of campaign building.

I forget the name of the show, but there was a show on HGTV that I loved watching, haven't seen it in a while. Renovation Realities maybe? Anyhow, it's real people trying to do real home improvement jobs and they totally expect it to all go smoothly like in those videos and then reality happens. 9 out of 10 of them never get the project finished and they all end up crying and swearing before the end. :)

My take on Weddings: Spend more per guest and make a smaller wedding. Have more than one cycle of invites to pack up to your maximum (small) number. Yeah, we got married at a pain in the ass time of year (the third day of Xmas) for our own reasons. Some people couldn't make it; some people wouldn't make it. But the people who came almost unanimously agreed it was the party of the year. Also, it ended up making for one of the best family Christmases since the majority came early and had Christmas together. (You also have to eat the fact that there will be people who wanted, or said they wanted, to come who didn't get invited. Them's the breaks. We also wish we were millionaires, but we're not.)
