NobodysHome wrote:The link is to wings of flying. But greater prayer beads I would probably use the spell gate as what can be summoned so HD 17 angels can be controlled, anything up to HD 34 can't? Greater prayer beads are CL 17.Oh, and has anyone else noticed that a Strand of Greater Prayer Beads is a really mean thing to drop on a GM?
So today I get to listen to a cleric of Shelyn whose party is in the midst of a TPK say, "Hey, goddess? Can I have an angel of up to 32 hit dice to bail me out of this predicament?"
It's gonna be a mess.
So, the prayer bead just says, "Summons a powerful creature of appropriate alignment from the Outer Planes (an angel, devil, etc.) to aid the wearer for 1 day."
And you use Gate to craft the item, where, "The second effect of the gate spell is to call an extraplanar creature to your aid (a calling effect)...In either case, their total HD cannot exceed twice your caster level. In the case of a single creature, you can control it if its HD does not exceed your caster level. A creature with more HD than your caster level can't be controlled."
By my reading, using the Prayer Bead version forces the GM to choose a deity-specific being of roughly 17 HD, but depending on the request and the urgency to that particular god, of up to 34 HD.
So I set up:
Fight over. Everyone make a Will save or be forcibly converted to NG. Hilarity ensues.
She ended up with the planetar. I think everyone was happy she didn't get the empyrean.
And the so

I personally could live with an NG alignment ^^
What I had for my vegetarian lunch:
Tofu puffs stuffed with beansprouts and shredded cucumber
Everything in "" is the mock version of the real stuff. I know you don't care for it much, NH, but it's quite common to do stuff like that here. Heck, there were vegetarian pizzas.

Witch is an essential part of our pathfinder campaigns, deities are not. :-)
The Star Chicken will be a witch patron or nothing at all.

Yeah, it's a hard knock life until you get the Amulet Coin and/or start abusing the daylights out of Pay Day. The currency conversion rate for PokeDollars is not kind.

Or did I misunderstand?Depends on how you define hipster.
As I prefer older series that have already been completed, and openly mock spin offs and bad sequels, many would point to that and say "hipster".
However, from the perspective of what many hipsters seem to be into- which is to say largely deconstructionist fare- I would say no
[snip].
Freehold likes EVA and dislikes Geass and TTGL. Yep, all remains right with the world.

Seriously... this morning, my son had legos, coins, and a puzzle eraser in his underpants. WTF?
It's sort of like a dragon/turtle combination: carrying your horde of treasure around with you.
Girl children do not do this.
The Impii never did that?
Okay, I assumed it was a "boy thing". Maybe Val is just weird.
I mean, we already knew that "Mr. Blues Harmonica in the stairwell 'cause I don't like Mama's food" is weird. I meant weird-ER.FAWTL poll... Cap? Does Tiny T-Rex do this? Anyone else with boy-children want to weigh in?
No kids here, but I can confirm Kamon and I did not do this when we were little.
Instead we put it in front of the bottom of our shirts and rolled them up to our chests, creating little pockets out of them.
Can confirm that Younger Sister likewise did not do so when she was young (though she likewise did do the shirt pocket thing, after we taught her to), and Kamon and Ebon's six-year-old girl does not. EbonDaughter2 is only a year so too young to test.
No idea about Younger Sister's stepson, he was already out of that age bracket by the time we met him.

Why Everybody Hates Trade Wars With NobodysHome
So, Final Fantasy Online has a very robust crafting and marketplace system, so you can craft hard-to-get items, check what other people are selling them for, and sell them for a competitive price. Most people politely align with the current lowest price. It's a remarkably-polite community.
Then there are the jerks who just HAVE to come along and undercut everybody.
So one of my "staple items" is an orchestrion: A music player that has been selling on the market for months for 300,000. Mine stopped selling about a week ago, and I checked, and one guy had put up 8 on the market at 290,000, so was forcing prices down.
So I dropped the price on my one item down to 250,000, figuring I'd let it sell then he could get his 290,000.Within 2 hours, he'd dropped all his prices down to 240,000, just to beat me.
Well, I'm patient, I'm Lawful, and I'm vengeful.
If he'd just matched my price, I would have let it go.
Instead, the market is now flooded with 50,000 gp orchestrions, 'cause those aren't worth making so if he undersells me it'll be at a loss.
Ever considered an even playing field, fella?
You would've hated me during my WoW days, then. My SOP with auction houses was to check what I was selling was going for, then drop my asking price by 5-10%.
That said, going back to already-posted items and lowering the costs again was either not something WoW allowed you to do, or not something I bothered with doing. If it didn't sell at the slightly-lowered price, I waited until the auction house gave up on the item (I think it was a week) and sent it back to me, then started over from the beginning.

Man, tho: Pokémon Go should not be as fun as it is. Like; it does everything that it shouldn’t do, and I love it. Dang it.
As long as you are in anything resembling an urban or suburban locale, yes. Poor Scint lives in a tiny rural town and the game just does not function for her at all, so she ended up quitting.
I still play, though not nearly as much as I did during the heyday. I have completed almost all of my Kanto PokeDex - I hatched a Porygon FINALLY earlier today, and otherwise am only missing regional exclusives (I sadly am probably NEVER going to be able to travel and grab Mr. Mime, Kangaskhan, and Farfetch'd), a couple of evolutions I don't have enough candy for (Grimer and Magnemite are rare where I live, so I don't have Muk or Magneton yet), and the last two legendaries (since Mewtwo is restricted to special raids and I haven't finished the questline for Mew yet).
Team Instinct!
(My natural inclination would be Team Mystic, but my brother in law and his wife were Instinct, and, though the NPC leader is a bit of a flake, it’s fun being the underdog.)
Ebon, Scint, and I are all Mystic. Winter is Coming!

Tac, long belated but my condolences for your loss. Hopefully she is in a better place now, and her suffering and pain a thing of memory only.
Thank you. She is, and though I miss her horribly, she gets to meet her twin brother - a thing for which she was excited about, so we mourn for us and rejoice for her.

I'm so happy, I have a game story to share for once!
Earlier in the year I had pretty much given up on DMing, due to serious adventure-writer's block, and general adulting making it difficult to get friends together to play. But last weekend Homunculus #1 said he wanted to play, and Mrs Sunrise helped me get thru my writer's block enough to write a simple fetch-quest.
So yesterday Homunculus #1, Mrs Sunrise, and Yellow gathered around our dining room table to play, and it was a smashing success! They talked their way past some goblin highwaymen, handily defeated an elemental deva, and then retreated from a daemonic temple after losing a greedy party-member to zombies. Homunculus #1 really wanted to save the doomed PC, which in retrospect shouldn't have surprised me, but finally fled with the rest of the party after I clarified how quickly the zombies can move.
Zombies are not slow in this game!
Yellow was very graceful about losing their character -- granted, they were playing two PCs so that we had a party of four, but I could tell that it hurt. Everyone is psyched about playing again next weekend, including me!

Ebon, Kamon, and I are going to see Solo tonight. I had a Fandango gift card from Xmas that has yet to be used, so I went ahead and bought my tickets in advance.
Fandango gave me a free poster (shipping not free, admittedly) for buying tickets through them.
All of this with about 5 minutes to spare before the cutoff time for ordering Fandango tickets for the screening time we intended.
Huzzah!

Dilemma of having money:
Should I get myself Phoenix Point digital pre-order while it's still $30 and wait for the release or should I get deluxe version for $50 which will give me soundtrack, and early access...
Should I get Battletech now for $42, or wait?
If I buy Battletech, I could get the $50 Phoenix Point as well but I might not get enough money in time for this month's monthly bundle... Though there is chance that I might manage getting another handful of money on my PayPal.
Choices, choices...
