Vanykyre - my BF works in IT support like NH.
Close, but not quite. Technically, I'm a "Senior Principal Curriculum Developer", meaning I write training to teach consultants and administrators how to install, configure, and administer our stuff.
In reality, coming from a "build your own hardware and write your own code" real-time background, if it's convoluted, the team asks me to take care of it. Other teams have learned. So I have around 30 people who come to me for tech support on the product, even though I don't see the word "support" anywhere in my title...

Tiny T-Rex is now making a Skittermander Solarian, so rather than step on his (absolutely not) Jedi toes I'm going to tweak my Shirren Solarian named Pixistix, he's still going to have the Xenoseeker theme but I'm thinking of changing classes to either Envoy, Operative, or Technomancer.
Thoughts?

Well, talked to my husband and he survived dinner with his family. It was as bad as feared. He and I have similar family backgrounds, which is why we don't really talk to our families very often (if at all), so I can relate. And swap horror stories. We could make a drinking game out of it. But we won't cause he's allergic to alcohol. :P
Anyhow, the service is tomorrow afternoon, and then there's a 'luncheon' (the obligatory bad cold cuts and suspicious jello salad), and then he drives home.
Meanwhile, the kidlet has worked himself into such a state from all the extra work this week to catch up after being absent last week that I had to forbid him from doing homework tonight and demand that he go to a martial arts class and then have time to play and do things that are fun. He nearly melted down. He just couldn't process 'fun' at this point, especially not enforced fun. But he needed the break as he was in the middle of a breakdown. And now I have a date with Netflix and knitting. Time to watch an episode of The Crown, and make my cat very happy. She loves it when I sit down and knit so she can curl up with me and sleep. She finds the click of the knitting needles soothing. :)

They really are. I don't know what I'd do without my kitties. They keep me calm and make life a lot happier. :)
They are also evil and infuriating, but that's part of their charm. ;)

But... but... how could you dream of criticizing a system wherein the only possible solution to low test scores is additional homework and school hours? Everyone knows that intelligence is nothing more than mind-numbing, repetitive, rote and hard work, right?
And since the administrators are SO much more important than the teachers, we need to pay them 3-5x as much as well. THAT'LL fix everything!

Well, today they finally updated the shipment to, "Oh, we *just* handed them to FedEx. They *may* be there by Tuesday.
So there's going to be some weird furniture rearrangement for tomorrow... sofas, anyone?

In other delivery news, NobodysWife wasn't feeling great today, so we decided to do Kirin. Lo and behold, they had Amazon food delivery! And guess who's an Amazon Prime member?

Is Black Panther better than many of the superhero movies as of late? I'm kinda getting burned out on subpar movies. But that might be DC's fault.

I feel that is a hard question to answer. Everyone has different tastes. I liked it. Its story was kind of the same story we keep getting for super hero movies, but still quite entertaining.

I just binge played 8 hours of slay the spire with my BF. We're still puzzling out how to complete it with ironclad, though on the silent it was a fairly simple matter(about 3h effort or so). Lots of poison and adrenalin and back flips for tons of block, and most creatures can't harm you as they slowly die of poison.
Yeah school is about additional hours and more homework. *Grouses*

In case any of you have had the fortune to have never played it, it's one of those, "Draw a card to move a certain number of spaces; you must exactly land on the final square to win" games where they didn't actually populate the deck with very many 1's or 2's, so the entire game was always, "All 3 players get around the board at varying speeds. All 3 players eventually end up milling about just outside the doctor's office, waiting for the lazy idiot to get home. After roughly 30 minutes of real time, someone finally draws a card to win. And it is utterly random and has nothing whatsoever to do with who got there first."
So it's a game designed for kids wherein you sit there doing nothing for half an hour. If I hadn't spent many hours cursing the lazy doctor's name the kids would have hated that game. As it is, they associate it with "hilarious dad cursing" so they have fond memories of it...

We have a new game that consists of a plastic mat, blindfold, brown play doh, and a mold for said play doh.
In case you haven't guessed yet, yes you mold the play doh to look like dog poop, put on the blindfold and wander the mat trying not to step in the faux poop.
Whoever made that game never had a dog.

Key ability scores for Envoy, according to the Starfinder Core Rulebook, lists intelligence as the third key ability score for Envoy.
Clearly, they don't understand how I make my Envoys.

I'm tired of trying to get a FtF game together, I give up. As a kid, I just didn't know enough kids in rural NY who played; as a student, getting a group together was herding cats; and now everyone I know has a job, a family, and no time, like me. I'm not a great DM anyway -- who am I kidding, I'm probably a solidly mediocre one -- but this feels a lot like giving up on a dream.
Maybe I'll DM a Roll20 game sometime, but with everything I'm taking on right now I'm really liking the thought of a zero-responsibility gaming hobby. So,
1. Playing more worker-placement and deck-building games. I already think in D&D-ese and TCG-ese, I want more gaming genres!
2. A MMO. I have WoW already but haven't played in 10+ years. I'm told that FFXIV is super-amazing.
3. I can work on my vaguely-D&D-like fantasy heartbreaker. I really am a game tinker at heart!
Choices, choices, choices...
Me as a DM...eh - I wouldn't count myself very good, since I cannot describe a place for nuts. If you asked me how the room looks, I'd just give you the dimensions (room is 20foot long, 30 foot wide, celling 10 ft up - see the map). But yes you'll have enough information to brawl with. And I'm not very good at describing people either, though I do try - like I'll tell you what hair colour they have, eye colour, and skin colour, but don't expect me to be particularly descriptive. I also cannot RP multiple NPCs reliably. So yes, I do have certain blindspots.
But I'd say I'm a lot better then most of the PBP GMs around - some games don't even last a month, before the GM vanishes without a trace. I'm all about accountability, dependability, and pushing to the end. I also try to make things as clear as possible - on what you can or cannot do. If you ask me a question if you can do X or Y, I'll give you a straight answer promptly and I won't leave things hanging. If I need more time to decide on an issue I will let you know too. And generally I'm fairly free and easy about what cheese you want to bring to the table. And I will put in my utmost effort when it comes to GMing.
For games that move as fast as mine did - I did try to get RP done with the players. I am not naturally a very RP heavy person, but I will put effort into it.

For 2) I played WoW, but I am not really any good when it comes to raid content - shadow priest is a lot about timing rotation . If you ask me to debuff EVERYTHING in sight, yes I am your cat - I will debuff everything in sight like a machine gun and hold all those debuffs. If you tell me to debuff 4 targets out of the 5, you bet my itchy trigger paw will hit the fifth as well. I cannot target only 4 out of 5 with any kind of speed. I find that WOW has become too..into optimization that you even have aps to track how much dps you're doing etc...eh. I didn't play MMOs to join the rat race, I just want to go along and listen to the story, which gets your group members pissed because they're probably on their 4th character rushing to 110...and why are you sitting there looking at cut scenes again? 3)If thou likes to works on thy stuff, by all means go ahead! I know I don't have imagination to create my own world or much of my own content. Sadly. Shucks to be me. I can only follow, I cannot create.

John - for the Klingon Bat'leth...how are you supposed to use it in a fight? As in I've always wondered odd shape weapons like Bolas, Illidians glaives - how you're actually supposed to use them.

FFXIV:
The first book (A Realm Reborn) was really, really, really fun and our core group of 4 loved playing through it. The second (Heavensward) is so grindy that we gave up on it. One player just paid the money to skip the content. The others played through it on their spare time while doing other, more exciting stuff like daily crafting. Yep. It really is THAT bad.
We're moving on to the third book (Stormblood) and we'll see how that goes.
And yeah, I'm still prepping those 95 rooms. Trying to do 10 an hour. Up to 55 now...

And boy, am I glad!

OK. I am just fundamentally Evil sometimes.
As the technical lead for my department, I get told a lot of stuff.
And yes, I basically sit there cleaning the house, folding laundry, doing dishes, occasionally saying, "Yeah. Is that assigned to me? No? OK," and tuning out again. So yesterday in meeting I got asked about something and I said, "Never heard of it." My manager said, "But you tiraded about key values being hard-coded?" "Oh, yeah. THAT piece of garbage! Has it broken yet? Does someone need help?"
I'm sure I sound like a drunken, grizzled old uncle with a shotgun. Because there's just SO much crap they feel the need to tell me, whether or not it's ever an action for me.
Then they say, "Oh, NobodysHome, can you research this new feature on this technical topic and get us some information on it within the next week or two?"
The next day they get a full presentation and lab that's ready for publication.
I'm scaring my lead. A lot.
It's fun.

My husband is having a truly craptastic day today. It started this morning when he had to fire a guy who took it badly and started screaming insults at him. (Like he doesn’t get enough of that from his boss. Sheesh.) And then his boss called him to tell him that they’ve hired his replacement. Not exactly a shock. It’s amazing to last a year working for this guy. He drove the last guy to drink. Like, serious drink. And my husband suspected something was up when the screaming phone calls stopped. Still an emotional blow. (Even if for the best in the long run) Anyway, then he left to drive to Chicago for the joint funeral service for his uncle and his grandma. (His uncle died last month. His grandma died almost two weeks ago. Nobody told him until Sunday. He also found out that the reason letters to his grandma had been getting returned was because they had her moved to a different facility without telling him. The second time they did that too. I mean, her dementia meant that she wouldn’t have known who he was anyways, but still.) So right about now he should be meeting with his extended family for dinner and a few hours of insensitive remarks about how he looks so much like his mom, etc. (To quote Miracle Max: why don’t you just give me a nice papercut and pour lemon juice on it while you’re at it) So, yeah, it’s beyond a bad day at this point. :(
Lynora, my deepest condolences. May they rest peacefully, and may your husbands day get better...my god, he needs to find another place to work before he starts drinking excessively himself!

And yeah, we have TWO theaters in the entire area that do pre-booked seats: One in San Francisco, and the other in Santa Clara. So each one is an hour or more of driving. But if a movie's not at the Cerrito, guess where we go?
The Sundance Kabuki in Japantown is *really* nice.
I've only been there once, for a Neil Gaiman reading, but I liked it.

Classic AP Writing 101:
(1) To fit with this bad guy's theme, let's give her the full feat chain for two-weapon fighting: Two-Weapon Fighting, Greater, and Improved, plus Two-Weapon Defense. Let's then give her Weapon Focus (and Greater) and Weapon Specialization (and Greater), plus, since it's an exotic weapon, we have to add the exotic weapon proficiency. Plus Improved Critical. That is TEN FEATS dedicated to being a bad-a$$ with these weapons.
(2) Tactics section: "On the first round of combat, she turns into a bug and uses her natural weapons."
