I have a fun week ahead of me.

Today is dentist visit with a cleaning and X-rays on the docket.

Thursday is oral surgery to remove some stumps.

Not really stuff I'm looking forward to.

And then I get to watch my dad's dog all this week and a couple of weeks afterwards.

Weird, my dentist post isn't showing up as the most recent post.

Have I cracked the code for attaining invisibility? Only time will tell!

The General and the kids don't seem to care what Pathfinder Adventure Path we embark on next, so I get to decide. Unfortunately, since ALL OF THEM isn't a realistic answer I thought I'd let FaWtL weigh in!

No Ruins Of Azlant (doesn't look fun to me), Strange Aeons (too scary for a six year old, and running for my brothers as soon as I recover from the oral surgery) or Kingmaker (too much paperwork).

Also no Hell's Vengeance, for obvious reasons.

Also no Giantslayer as that's the one AP since Kingmaker that I skipped.

To be honest I BET I could run Strange Aeons cartoonish =P

We get three days of dwelling at or around 50 degrees!!

Then it's back in the freezer with two weeks of 20-35 degrees and snow every few days.

But, these next few days are gonna feel sweet!

It's the opening part of Strange Aeons I'm worried about.

That and running an adventure path for two groups at the same time is almost as fun as driving across Montana. :-D

Jade Regent was our first campaign, it was killed by a flea infestation, so probably not that one.

And yes, we skipped the caravan stuff.

My kids have been having a good time with Legacy of Fire. Pretty straightforward dungeon crawl, most of the monsters are non-human, and I only have to expurgate a little.

My kids begged for a CD alarm clock.
The only problem is that they keep swapping out the CD for ones I thought I had hidden, and now I'm being treated to a synth-arresting rendition of "Do you know the muffin man?"

Looks like our options are.

Rise Of The Runelords
Curse Of The Crimson Throne
Serpent's Skull (yes, I know it has issues, I know what they are and I got them covered)
Skull & Shackles
Reign Of Winter
Mummy's Mask
Wrath Of The Righteous
Iron Gods (with tweaks to androids)
Hell's Rebels
Ironfang Invasion
War Of The Crown (to annoy the "you can't run it as it's released!" crowd).

How long have you been sidesword fighting? Was it hard for you to pick it up? Can you read what your opponent is going to do next and are there like a fixed set of moves so that the moment your opponent starts the stroke, you automatically know and move into the counter?

I've had one for two-three years, but I've had to learn from books/Youtube, since nobody teaches it at the clubs I go to. It is very different to sabre, and I don't think I've really got the hang of it yet, but practice makes perfect...

There are fixed moves and set counters to those moves, but the idea is to drill them until they're internalised, and personally speaking, I tend to act from instinct/muscle memory in the heat of the moment...

If you run Rise of the Runelords, I'd recommend toning down getting the special item from the Succubus, or drop it entirely. That section isn't kid-friendly. Ironfang Invasion is a straight-up Monster Stomp. Reign of Winter is good. Curse of the Crimson Throne is okay if you drop the Vampires, unless your kids don't mind them. Just my two Credits.

Uhhh too deep for me. I never questioned the inner workings of the universe(the rules), I just followed them without question.

How dull for you! ;)

Truthfully, I was the same way until I discovered the Paizo forum. Then I started reading and debating and thinking about the game rules, and it's been rules-tinkering ever since. :)

My inner sense of order accepts what 3.0/3.5/PF wants to be, and I want it to someday reach that potential. (IMO, naturally.) But that same sense of order rejects a lot of the quirks that hold it back from being that, and the assumptive authority of RAW and D&D convention.

Spoiler:
Bonus question: Is my rules-tinkering a Lawful or a Chaotic pursuit? ;)

I would love to know more about this, because my kids would be ridiculously happy if I ran that for them.

Not anytime soon, granted, because it takes us roughly half a year per AP book, but, ya know, EVENTUALLY.

I will, it was actually fairly easy, and would be easier if I actually knew anything about Harry Potter beyond the basics.

The most important thing is replacing Wake Of The Watcher with The Harrowing, I can't stress that enough.

I did! But no more mythic and I've been hatching plans to completely revamp the beginning (without actually changing anything).

Plus they weren't actually paying attention back then.

That is TEN FEATS dedicated to being a bad-a$$ with these weapons.

(2) Tactics section: "On the first round of combat, she turns into a bug and uses her natural weapons."

WTF, AP? Just... WTF?

Ah, yes. The Red Mantis Assassin. So many requirements to gain a capstone that actively prevents you from using your other abilities.

Being hit on by college girls when you're college staff is strange.

Girl: Do you have plans this Friday?
Me: Yes.
Girl: How about the weekend?
Me: Yes.

Me: Yes.
Girl: When are you free?
Me: Never. I always have plans.
Girl gives me a teary kitten-eyes look for about a minute before taking the hint and leaving.
Coworker: That was Batman villain cold.
Me: I would be in costume, but Nora is refueling my gun.
Coworker: What.
Me: And you call yourself a nerd.

So, late last month I went to Gamestop. I wanted a used PS4, and for $260 I could get one and two games under $20. The associate is trying to find two games for me, and it's actually hard to do. What I really want (Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 collection, may the Switch port come swiftly) is out of stock, and he keeps showing me games that fit my interests, and I have them on Steam. Like, consistently. Sure, I want to eventually play God of War 4 and Kingdom Hearts 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2, but those games are a while down the line. For right now, I was finding nothing to play that I didn't already possess. So I revisit the old debate about buying a Switch. Since spending the holidays selling them at Target, it's been a matter of if, not when.

So I changed my mind and asked for a new Neon Switch and Breath of the Wild. Sales associate was actually visibly annoyed. I got it without comment, but he wasn't happy. Well, there's a reason for that, and I didn't know.

Gamestop makes a huge profit margin on used games and consoles. New? Not so much. Which is why they require a total percentage of employees' sales to be used stuff, or they get their hours cut. Which is why many Gamestop employees outright lie about having new stuff in stock so they can hit their quota and keep their hours up. And I went from getting him at least $260 to that quota to adding about $130 to his quota. All because I made some personal values calculations that the associate didn't really have the ability to dissuade my from (I had figured out the PS4 wasn't right for me at this time). That's not his fault, but if his used sales were lagging (and he did seem rather unhappy about me buying new stuff), I might have gotten him punished or his wages cut by forcing him further underwater on his quota. Which makes me feel like kind of a jerk. Yea, I went to Gamestop and spent $390, and I'm left feeling like I hurt their worker by doing so.

I don't understand why I still willingly shop at Gamestop.

Not really. They just flirt because I can smooth over problems with missing instruments. Dental instruments are insanely expensive.

Well, a couple of the post-grads are serious. But they take hints better and leave me alone.

And I can't be too blunt about it. The rules are far too vague for that.

Differences between the personalities of our dog and my dad's dog.

Our dog requires constant pampering or he gets depressed.

Grampy's dog requires constant positive reinforcement or she gets depressed.

Should be a fun few weeks (and incredibly cheerful [insert forced smile here]).
