Egads! If Rags was a teenager when it came out, and Freehold was eight, that means I was ten, which leads to the conclusion that A) Rags isn't that much older than me, and B) I really need to find the Vegas of time traveling, which is where I suspect I'll find future Golarion.

On another note, Today is June First. My 20th Wedding anniversary.
I can't believe she's put up with me for that long. ;P
And I have been so busy at work that I haven't prepared anything special for today.
I didn't forget about it! I've just been busy! Yeah, that's my story... :/

Tiny T-Rex rode the Zoo train all by himself for the first time. He sat in a car full of girls his age (almost five), that he chatted with the entire time, and by the time he got off he knew all their names.

It was end of August when I did it, but I didn't realize I would be driving around the top of a mountain when I did it. I just thought it was way quicker.

As a world creator he's...decent. The one thing he didn't "re-imagine" was Firefly, and I thought that a universe without ANY aliens was a nice change in pace. It was totally a Cowboy Bebop ripoff, though.I disagree with this.
While I love Cowboy Bebop (and Outlaw Star), the entire set-up, crew, and so on are very different in Firefly and Cowboy Bebop. If anything, I could see Firefly as taking strong inspirations from Outlaw Star - even more so than Cowboy Bebop, what with whole "container opened to reveal a naked girl inside (who proves to be special)" thing.
The rest of the cultures and concepts are extremely different - but I will own up to that being a scene-recreation, now that I've remembered it.
With Whedon, I've enjoyed most of the things he's touched - Alien: Resurrection being a notable exception, and one that he's on record as having had problems with studio meddling.

I will let you know what I think of Joss Whedon as a director when I see Avengers 3 without him. I liked 1&2, but the best way to define his directing is to take a product that's otherwise the same and remove him from it - that will be the case with Avengers 3 - same actors, writers, budget, producers, etc, but the director will change. If it's better, he's not great, if it's worse, he's probably a good director.
It's kind of impossible to isolate the effects of the director because a good director can't make up for bad actors and writing, and even a bad director has a hard time ruining good actors and writing.

The point being, Whedon is hardly the first (nor the last) to steal outright from Japanese movies and/or anime.
Unsurprisingly, it's what a lot of "great" American films and TV series have done over the decades. Calling Whedon and Whedon alone on it is... unkind.

one movie where the creator lamented(and still laments) being unable to get the actor who practically invented the samurai action film(possibly due to racism and produced another movie only recently that he has always wanted to make that he had trouble creating due to racism despite being a celebrated director and producer) vs. an entire career of easily recognized blatantly plagiarized material? That's an unfair comparison.

I would love to have this conversation with you over dinner and a beer (or iced tea for me), but the flight would be prohibitively expensive.
From my viewpoint, the conversation was:
FHDM: Whedon is a hack because he plagiarizes Japanese material.
NBH: Lucas did it too.
FHDM: Lucas gets a pass because he tried to include one of the original actors and make it clear it was a tribute rather than a rip-off.
FHDM: "Everyone should be called out on it."
So while I fundamentally understand your separation of Lucas and Whedon, and your claim that Whedon is the worst offender (I'll agree he's certainly the most popular, though I'd have to check good old Ute's track record), I'd love to have a conversation on, "When is it homage, and when is it plagiarism?"

An homage is one film. Plagiarism is a career.

Ship mounted grappling hooks were prevalent in firefly. Good to know they washed them after usage. :-D
Magic guns? A point in your favor. As is projector eye pieces, and cat people and mind controlling cacti. One could make the argument that this was where he left outlaw star for cowboy bebop, though.
Chinese American federation/bilingual society, though? Watched much anime lately, omae? The art form has brought Japan and America closer- one could suggest that you swap China for Japan in the series and you'd be jake. I have heard at least one rumor that China was intentionally used instead of Japan to avoid this particular parallel, but I have no evidence beyond my blinding hatred /distrust of Whedon.
Swapping a civil war for a territorial dispute is not that hard.
And bay is far, far from perfect and deserves his harsh criticism at times. I simply hold whedon to the same standard.

Bird watching is so fun! Bird bath has been an awesome addition to the garden.
It would seem nine of twelve corn planted is coming up, and 3/4 of the peas. Not quite sure why as the flood path peas are doing quite well. The hot peppers are growing the best and the melons aren't far behind.
Also the tomatoes are taking off! And same with the General's milkweed (Monarch butterflies love that stuff!)
Looking to be a robust year for my garden. :-)

In fact the proper Polish term for marines is piechota morska which literally means "infantry (of) sea" (the second word is actually an adjective which sometimes goes after the noun, depending upon exact quality described), though the Polonized word "marins" is commonly used since 90s. As a singular word, pluralized when needed using rules of Polish grammar.
