CH and I took on manhattan last night and met up at the strat! Then we went to koreatown- sometimes called k-town- for Korean food! It was my first time exploring the maze food mall that contains numerous eateries to get something other than buns. CH surprised me with a birthday present - a mass effect N7 shirt AND A TALKING ELCOR PLUSH!
Sincere request: Can we go see Blasto 6? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE!
We dined on delicious Korean food- exotic to my Japanese and Chinese loving palate, but familiar to CH- and chatted the night away, talking about Fawtl business and gaming and inquisition and mass effect. It was a wonderful surprise and gift and I look forward to one upping him when it is his birthday!

Target is definitely not hugging and cuddling their stuffed animals, do they not get step by step illustrated instructions in every box like us?
And where the f!!& is the canned pineapple! I thought this was a super target!
This mother and daughter that are shopping the same areas are alternating between cooking tips and talking about a horrific domestic violence stand off a different sister or someone was involved in. It's a pretty weird conversation to half follow with.

I think there was a deal between Dell and Microsoft to automatically update all win7 and win8 systems to win10... Whether the user wanted it or not. Because Microsoft is just helpful that way.

I got over ambitious about how much holiday stuff I can handle and decided to send Christmas cards this year....emotional land mine does not cover it. Today's mini meltdown courtesy of finding out that I can't find the addresses for either of the assisted living facilities that either my grandma is in or that husband's crazy grandma is in. Ugh. Not that it matters, neither of them can remember stuff anyways. They won't even notice. :(
Next year I'm going back to sending New Years cards. Less emotionally charged and a more lax deadline. Nothing says I'm a disorganized mess, but I still care about you like a New Years card. :P

Also did lots of holiday baking. Made two batches of fudge for tomorrow's holiday party. Peppermint and cherry flavored. Would have done orange, but I seem to be out of orange extract. And I made a probably ill advised attempt at gluten free fruitcake. It smells good anyways. Hopefully it will taste good too.
Meanwhile kidlet is happy to be allowed to play after getting home from school. He's had so much homework the last two weeks as everyone was trying to finish things up before break that it's been quite a while since he last got to just have fun. :)

Just get a computer without pre-installed system and buy the system separately.

I will be wearing the N7 shirt on my birthday, when I turn 37. Or N37, as I call it.
Don't forget about the card!

If you're going to the effort to install a retail copy of the OS on a clean system you may as well build the computer from scratch too and save some money. As well as having a system configured exactly the way you want it.

John and I are preparing Christmas cards...
John: Darn it, why can't I think of their youngest's name?
CH: I don't learn children's names until they turn 21.
This is a good policy.
I don't care for kids younger than three...they're basically pets at age one, and annoying pets that can talk but not really communicate at two. Three is okay. Four they start to really have a personality and such. Then they're good until about ten. After that it's downhill. By thirteen, I block them out of existence until they're...about 25 or so, usually.
There is a 20 year old in my group, and when he was 19 I teased him mercilessly about being a teenager. Nice kid, though.
But yeah, teenagers. I don't just hate teenagers because I'm in my 30s.
No, I know this, because I hated teenagers before I was one, and even more intensely did I hate them when I was one! Now that I'm in my 30s it's just socially acceptable to admit it.
Seriously, teenagers are like 85% of the reasons I don't have kids. That six year substance of awesomeness is not worth the bread in that sandwich that holds it together. At least babies are cute to justify their annoyance. All kids eventually become teenagers, though. Ugh.

Our daughter was speaking in full sentences before she was one, and trust me, if you alluded to her being a pet she would've let you have it.
Trust me, kids are people, if you don't treat them as such, they will make your life hell.
In case you want to know, her first sentence, at age 10 months was "wait! I've got an idea!"
And they haven't stopped coming since.
Also at her first Christmas at little over a year and a half she pulled me to the side and asked "Do I have to answer stupid questions, I don't want to answer stupid questions". :-D
Edit: also just offering my perspective, nothing else. :-)

Kids are people; I was using figurative language. I'm actually remarkably good with kids...just pretty much elementary age only. By choice. I get them. My nephews and neices all think I'm the best.
Don't get me wrong, I get teenagers, too, but I don't excuse them. And I get babies, they're just more trouble than they're worth. I have a 16 year old niece, and I love her and all, but I don't exactly spend a lot of time with her, because she's still pretty...teenager-ish...even though she's a really good kid.
It's like the Mac analogy. I recognize the quality - I just don't find it worth the price tag of problems that comes with those respective age groups.
The fostering I told you we signed up for? Very much ages four to nine.

Well, if you go far enough back in that side of my family it's Scottish, if that helps. They emigrated to Ireland a few generations after my ancestor was raised to nobility.
I think maybe the Boston thing was a factor?
Or its that its always so damn sunny here, and I never get the grey. The beautiful, beautiful grey.
What? I like monochromaticism.

My ancestors were vassals of the O'Neill dynasty, and were in charge of managing all of the church land in Tyrone, at least right up until someone decided that all of the O'Neill territory should be part of England. After the English torched their holdings near Dungannon, most of the family ended up in Granard, Longford, and eventually, Queens, NY.

No, but not because of the weather. I have never met a New Yorker in person who wasn't an @$$hole. You guys send a lot of them to Florida. I'm sure there are exceptions, but from everything I've heard from everyone I've known who's gone to New York, and all of the people I've met from there (hundreds if not thousands - seriously A LOT of New Yorkers come to Florida), it seems like decent human beings are like oases in a desert of jerks up there.
I could be wrong, but I'm not willing to take that chance. You're welcome to come down here. From what I hear, Jax has a significantly lower cost of living; you might even be able to live off your freelance work and telecommute. Orlando or Miami is better for creative work in person, though rent near Miami is atrocious. Orlando isn't bad, but the tolls are ridiculous and there's no real mass transit in the state.

Sigh. Oh tgtg... just... sigh. ;P
Also, who has two thumbs and beat X-Com?!
*this guy*
I... I mean me. Y-... you can't see it, but I had my two thumbs pointed at my chest. Because I beat X-Com.
After dominating the n00b/beginner options (though I seriously question the world-wide statistics... seriously, how did anyone ever get a million scientists... on average?!), I decided to to Enemy Within, only this time Iron Man, and Classic.
So, naturally, halfway through the tutorial it bugs out on me. I close and restart.
So the tutorial requires me to select the "build alien containment"... which I'm already building... but it won't let me leave the "build selection" screen until I select the "build alien containment" which is already being built, so it's not an option, leaving me stranded on the "build alien containment"... and I can't go back to an earlier save because of Ironman... AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH~!
(And I'd just gotten an awesome Valkyrie unit going in that one, too.)
:/

New York State is quite expensive compared to the rest of the flat 50. I've never been to Florida outside of the Miami airport, but I've been seriously considering moving back to Savannah, GA.
