I complained, and they gave me back the full cost (!) of the check (even for the others who didn't complain) and a free meal next time we go. Their regular manager was out and they were bewailing the replacement. She should be back after this weekend, so we'll give 'em another chance once she has had time to get the place straightened out.
They did. I'm very shy about complaining, but they were very nice, particularly after I declined a different meal and gave them back the bulk of the food. Ugh.
I ended up getting a burrito at Taco Bell. :/

That was very nice of them to do that.
I ate at a Smahburger once, and it wasn't bad, but I also didn't think I got my money's worth.

Let me know how it turns out. There's a Smashburger around here and I've been wondering if they are any good.

What is this smashburger you speak of?
It's an expensive burger joint with fancy ingredients and sides. I love their rosemary fries and enjoy making my own burger (usually with a pretzel bun), but it's never quite worth the money even when it's good. But free? That's sweet.
They also have sweet potato fries.

I wonder if they're anything like The Counter...
I really liked the ones in LA. I have yet to go the one in Times Square because it is in Times Square.

They are similar to The Counter, really other than the fact that you order at the register at Smashburger (but they bring you food to you when it's ready).

I love my RPG library.
I have been tossing around the quasi-Victorian setting in my head and wanting a campaign idea to put in it. I gathered up a bunch of materials, including:
The 2E Villains Guide
The 3.5E DMG2
The 3.5E book Exemplars of Evil
The 4E Book of Vile Darkness
The Pathfinder NPC Guide
The Pathfinder Gamemastery Guide
After perusing all of these, I think I have cobbled together my ideas. All those old books are great for inspiration!
(This may turn into a new PbP, so stay tuned.)
(My Ravenloft game is not going away! Too many great things in store there.)

Where did you come to be introduced to The Counter?

Cool! I'd like to participate in that.

During my short stint in the Atlanta area.

I went to see Star Trek: Into Darkness on Friday. Good stuff.
Then had a busy day Saturday. My car's inspection was up at the end of the month, but I had a cracked windshield and I knew it would not pass, so I got that replaced, got the car inspected, and then hosted a little dinner party. Spaghetti and meatballs with my homemade tiramisu for dessert. Mmmm.
The day was tiring though. That's why I'm not doing shit today.

I ate at Smashburger once... haven't been back.
Not that it was horrible, it just didn't stand out as a great burger.

Went caving last night with some church friends. Had a blast for about four hours underground. My everything hurts.
Will get caught up on PbPs later today or tomorrow. Yay holiday.
That's cool. I haven't been in a cave (Other that the touristy types) for... ever? I was in my teens, anyway.

Or, you know, go to the one in Brooklyn.

Treppa wrote:There was a place in Rochester that made big thick sweet potato fries and drizzled them with honey and salt. So good.It was rather a silly indulgence considering our financial straits, but it ended up free.
I'm a sucker for fries drizzled with olive oil and tossed with rosemary.
Up by where I'm from in the Adirondacks, just about every diner serves sweet potato fries, usually served with "red sauce," which consists of, as far as I know, tomato paste, brown sugar, and jam.
Also, on the subject of burgers, I spent the last two weeks at a visual effects / concept art seminar in Los Angeles, and had In-N-Out Burger for the first time. And the second through tenth times.
