New tavern thread

Gamer Connection

Until I figure out what AP I want to run, and when, I started up a tavern thread at Boomer's Bar & Grill to give people a place to do general rping with each other while they wait.

I was your first customer. Seems like a nice place to hang out.

It's a good idea especially for those who need a longer posting history. It also gives valuable PBP experience in a rather informal way.

Those are 2 of the big reasons I started it; the big thing I noticed with all the submissions you received was that the ones with no experience/history just had too much ground to try to make up. This also gives people a chance to explore and develop character concepts over time rather than having to come up with a full blown character complete with history and personality immediately.

Hey..great idea...I am thoroughly enjoying it. I am a long-time role player on tabletops, but this is my first experience with PbP. I hope that the development of your AP can use a Rogue Scout? I am certainly not indifferent to preparing anything that will get me started. Thanks again!

Definantly a very good idea. I support it :)

*Bows* Hello, I would like to share something with those who are perusing this thread.

A long time ago, in a realm far separated by creators and ideas, there was an interaction of peoples who's love for the genre of the game was boundless. These people came together spontaneously and with much good cheer and energy to create something of which I am immensely glad to have been a small part of. Sadly, times and creative owners moved on and the place in which said people gathered is now no more.....but its echo lives still and I would like to share it with you all here.

I give to you "Scrapthrall's Rescue": LINK

I hope its reading brings you some amusement and inspiration. The affair was a creative writing exercise, though an eye to the D20 rules and more importantly the 'spirit' of the setting was always followed. *Bows*

I also hope the link actually works....

An interesting read well worth a few minutes of anybody's time.

Is there a general Pts that folks here use? The first two that I saw on the B&G thread were 15, and 31 respectively... I like rolling, Point-Buy, whatever, but perhaps if there were some sort of guidelines for Pts, folks could have uniform characters, should someone decide to run a game for those sitting around? Personally, I prefer 25 Pts, or even rolling with the mechanic below. Even though I have seen 2 Gnomes...I shall enter with a great Gnome that I have wanted to RP now, based on this figure

Not my paint-job (I wish...), but a great example,nonetheless.
Hopefully, mine will turn out at least decent.

As far as generating base stats are concerned, there are people who like point buy (at various point levels) for various reasons, and people who like rolling (again with various flavors) also for various reasons, and to try to determine one "right" method for every DM to use would be near impossible.

Agreed.

I guess what I meant was did YOU have a standard that you preferred for games that you ran...

So, are you currently recruiting for something ? I will happily play whatever is lacking in a particular group, I have few 'don't likes' as far as Class is concerned.OK, I'm not huge on Monks, but still

I just got done recruiting, but if you step into the bar for a while, someone else may come along to start a game, or a replacement may be needed somewhere, and having that posting history will certainly help your case.

Edit: You don't even need full stats, just a character concept and personality.

There is still at least one person in the tavern if folks are wanting to rp between games.
