After losing the DCUO screenshot contest, I can't wait to see how I got booted out of this.

Nope, can't enter again, and I'd really love to see the items coming in.

Thanks Herreman.

Congratulations Clark!
Oh... and... congratulations on the seat on the bench :)

How did you decide on C'dA? I am hosting the family reunion this year on the south side of your beautiful lake.

Congratulations Clark!
Both on the Appointment, and the Access granting. I hope you are entertained this year.

Oh its so great to read items. And the judges are doing an amazing job. They are all over it. I agree with all their preliminary keeps and rejects (not that it matters, of course). You guys are so lucky to have Neil and Sean and Ryan and everyone else who is helping.

I love the transparency of this contest. The stuff Sean posted to help everyone avoid items that will get you booted, what other contest does stuff like that? And then all the feedback. Its awesome. And with Neil and Sean, who are both so analytical and write such long comments, you guys are really going to be in for a critique treat at the end if your item didnt make the cut.

Legendary Games, Necromancer Games

Dang, there are some good items this year. The average quality is up, I would say. And nearly all of them have really good names, even the rejects. You guys did a really good job this year. You make the judges' job really difficult. There are very very few obvious outright autorejects. Only one over word count that I could see. One joke item. One "thats a weapon not a wondrous item" item. I have to admit, after all the years of doing this I am surprised anyone is ever over word count. But it apparently still happens.

Actually, I think we're up to three now.

I should probably scale back on some of that. But, for most items, I need to talk my way through it...weighing the pros and cons before a final recommendation on Keep or Reject. It's fun and educational, though. I enjoy Sean's analysis a lot because it can quickly cut to the heart of the matter where it takes me like a whole paragraph to get out what I perceive about an item.

Weep. I knew going in that my item had lame-name-itis...

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4 aka Scipion del Ferro

Took me a few do-overs before I found the right name for mine as well.

Congrats Clark! Before I submitted my item I looked through previous year contests and found your commentary helpful. I hope mine was not auto-rejected though...that would make me a sad panda. :D

Definitely hard to get out of the "X of Y" item name rut for me. Almost as hard as the (Adjective) (Animal) Inn/Tavern/Pub naming scheme.

But the Ebon Boar Tavern is the best place to find the Stein of Drunkenness.

I'm an actual judge. As in, a judge in real life. Black robe, gavel, etc. Judicial cannons prohibit involvement in contests with prizes.

Now I'm just sad I can't make a judicial cannon as my entry to the contest.

I tried going simple and elegant with my name and description. Hopefully, it's not held against me. :P

I must admit this thread made me laugh when I saw it.

As if Clark isn't going to see 100s or people doing the "Hi Clark, I didnt make top 32, please tear into my submission so I know how to improve for next year" thing.

You guys won't need my comments. With the judges you have, they are doing way more than I ever could. Seriously. People may take pity on me and, out of a sense of nostalgia, ask me to critique, but it won't be needed. The items this year are being considered by such talented judges, its amazing. You guys are in for a treat when you get the eventual feedback.

Only if it isn't awesome enough to not do stuff and still be awesome

Cool, then I am safe, for it just oozes awesome. Yes, I did remember to cover it up so it wouldn't get infected...

Shadar Aman, whereabouts in the state you live? I'm Boise area.

Judicial Cannon, this bell shaped device is 4 foot long and made of iron.

Upon firing this item the target must make a Reflex save to avoid being struck by an immense book containing all the laws written from every land of the world. The impact of said book deals 10d20 points of damage against law breakers only and imprisons them from as low as 1 year to as long as life in a prismatic sphere.

Hey same here. I used to visit CDA when I went to school up at UoI. They have cooler mountains and trees than here in Boise.

I am in Moscow (which is probably why I remember Bruck :)

One of my gaming pals moved back to Boise where his dad is a judge. Coincidence?? (now if he happens to be in one of your groups that would be too cool :)

RPG Superstar 2011 Top 4 aka Scipion del Ferro

Actually he is, he's a rogue in our Kingmaker game. Tony and I went to middle school together. His fiance and I shared an apartment while I went to school in Moscow. He was the one who pointed me to these boards, because of you probably. So if I beat you it is your own fault ;)

He had to skip out on Kingmaker last night, I hear he spent the whole day rewiring his house. Which sounds less than fun.

My own fault? Let's hope we do get to armwrestling for T, S, and little t's votes. I can live with that:) Prefferably after the final four :)

Tell them all hi (and to vote) for me :)
