I agree with Matthew - I think everything she says while the potion is in effect is in the orange bubble.

I think that last line is actually the punch line, and makes an ironic observation about glibness. It improves your Bluff checks by an insane amount, so people will believe your lies. However, when telling the truth no Bluff check is needed, so it doesn't help you be more convincing when telling the truth.

In other words: You're really convincing, as long as you lie.

I love the way we're reverting to real-world fight logic (i.e, this guy is beaten even though he doesn't have any red lines or cross-hatches on him). Maybe it's just because he's low level.

I prefer this strip, very close to the one you mentioned, even if it has nothing to do with the lead and all

Yes, killing commoners has a certain appeal to it........

Killing npc's with npc class levels, why the hell not?

But ... but ... he ended his last sentence with a period. (I get the joke, just being thick.)

This is the real upside to playing a wizard. ;D

Reading that one where the guard commented about halflings being jolly, I could only think of this OotS comic.

Poor Enor.

Or maybe I should say poor Gannji, after Enor reluctantly has to murderize him.

That was unexpected......

I loved the name of Belkar's opponent.

All of the names were pretty clever:

Vermillius (vermilion=red) vs. Ceruleaus (cerulean=blue)
Offpanelo vs. Notseenicus

It's a genuinely sad moment. :(

Kind of reminds me of the scene of the failed attack on the Telmarine castle in Prince Caspian.

He looks so happy over a 2 gp spear. But one nitpick -- 3.5 D&D rules don't have a 2 gp spear that can be thrown with one hand, do they?

(Yes, I know -- "it's not any particular edition of D&D".)

Damn you, you made me go look up item costs in the d20 SRD. ;)

And then I went back and looked... he's been fighting with the spear 2 handed usually, so it probably is a stock standard 2 gp two-handed spear.

It's hard to tell whether he actually threw the spear with 1 hand... even if he did, maybe he just took a penalty (which is why he missed :) ).

Jon Brazer Enterprises

There is one. He'll have to take a -4 penalty for throwing it 1 handed (on top of the range increments), but it'd work.

Spear 2 gp 1d6 1d8 ×3 20 ft. 6 lb. Piercing

Spear 2 gp 1d6 1d8 ×3 20 ft. 6 lb. Piercing

Where are the rules for throwing a two-handed weapon with one hand?

No specific rules (that I can find anyway), but it's a reasonable GM call based on penalties for similar situations -- -2/-4 for using an inappropriately sized weapon (which I would say could apply to using a 2 handed weapon 1 handed), -4 for an improvised weapon, -4 for throwing a weapon not meant to be thrown.

And as you yourself said, the Giant is not beholden to using actual D&D rules.

And again, it's quite possible he threw the weapon 2 handed anyway. We don't actually see him throw it.

You're technically correct, which is the best kind of correct! :-)

If one of my players tried throwing a 2 handed ranged weapon with 1 hand, I'd use the same rule as a bastard sword. Its a 2 handed martial weapon or a 1 handed exotic weapon. Without a specific feat, the bastard sword takes a -4 for a non-proficiency weapon when used 1 handed.

But that would be how I'd rule it. YMMV.

Player handbook, 3.5 spear

Spear cost 2 GP, one handed meele weapon that can be used 2 handed.

Description: ... It can be throw...
the range increment is in the weapon stats: 20'

So it is a regular 3.5. spear

Look again -- spears are two-handed melee weapons. Shortspears are one-handed melee weapons, but they only cost 1 gp.

I wonder who the Champ is, what he / she / it did to get imprisoned by Tarquin, and whether Roy will win, die, or be able to convert the Champ to their cause.
