This is perfect. There's no way Xykon can focus that long.
While true, I wonder how much progress that Team Evil will make before things fall apart.

Thats true.

There's absolutely a statement here on the classes. Xykon defeated the party wizard's dungeon easily (with the power of love, no less) and the barbarian is giving the sorcerer the most trouble.

Like most people, she thinks she knows more than she does.

And she's really that stubborn. She's not the Q-anon Queen of Canada, but close.

And yeah, it means just about what you think it does....

Oh sweet Crom...I dunno whether to laugh or cry at Serini's reasonings...

That and the whole idea behind how to get to the last door...

Heartwarming.

"Why are you like this? Just take your damn soup."

I have never felt more in tune with Belkar than when reading that.

1280: Another Helping

Belkar has a novel experience.

Maybe it helps they had other priorities rather than putting him down....

But good deal for my favorite paladin duo! :D

I wonder if Belkar's prophecy will be fulfilled through stasis rather than death.

It does feel a bit like saying goodbyes.

What's really amusing is that Mimi has the thumbs aligned to the front and both hands with palms inward...

Which is correct in RL, but what AI often has issues with.

Some times it pays to not think too hard about this sort of stuff.

Also capitalizing the Final Dungeon? Nice. :)

Well they aren't at the Final Dungeon but Mid journey.

1282: In From the Cold

It makes total sense that Xykon would choose immediate gratification in the marshmallow test.

Liberty's Edge

I love the spam.

*sings* Spam Spam Spam... Also they should get a free Stay puff marshmallow man.

1283: Budding Emotions

Wow. Serini should have taken levels in druid. ;)

Liberty's Edge

Just noticed that Serini referred to Sunny as "they".

It is strongly implied that beholders don't use sexual reproduction, so concepts of gender wouldn't really work. So, I doubt that it is an effort for LGBTQ+ inclusion.

Yeah I mean they seems appropriate for something that doesn't really need sex organs to make more of themselves...

It's still a nice nod because just 10 years ago we probably would have seen them gendered.

True. Though I don't ever recall gendering them when I was fighting them.. or using them.

1284: Thus All the Dodging

Vaarsuvius is quick with the defensive spells when they need to be.

I just love the crankiness of Serini.

1285: Face to Face

Hey, if you can't look back at your younger self and see how foolish you used to be, you haven't grown at all.

(Not sure if that level of crankiness is justified, but this is Serini we're talking about.)

"So, uh, this feels... not healthy?" is a line that Burlew wouldn't have used when this comic first started out. It's fun to see how the language and the quips have evolved.

Wow. Some times as you age, you never QUITE realize just how much you needed to learn until time and experience catch up with you.

Great stuff! :D

Yeah...

That was an unexpected twist for those that have been following the comic for a while.

(Rich probably can't legally include the cameos now, though)

Next strip, Elan will probably realize that narrative logic calls for the final battle to be imminent.

Eventually yes. I doubt it's next strip though.

1287: Play the Hits

Nice shout-out to the first collection title, plus bonus fourth-wall breakage.

That strip hit me right in the nostalgia bone.

Wow. That's some serious meta recall there...

Liberty's Edge

Extremely good. And I totally approve of Belkar's new take on healing.

I wonder what Banjo's portfolio would be if he did become a deity.
