Veterans Day

*nod* and salute to all our brothers in arms out there now and past. Whew. As for me; Army veteran; signal corps. Anybody going to a parade today?

Count me in! Air Force NCO, Aircraft Fuel Systems Craftsman.

Thank you for your service, veterans. I would also like to thank my sister, who to this day cannot discuss her job with anyone although she is still in the air force(I dont know her rank for sure, but I believe she is a captain); my uncle, who was in the army(I believe he retired as a sergeant) and now works with northrop grumman; and my cousin, who is a lt. colonel in the air force.

I tried, but being born deaf in one ear made me ineligible for military service in any branch. Granted it makes sense when you watch me spin in circles because I have no directional hearing and can't tell where sounds are coming from unless I see the source while the sound is being made.

I tried earlier to add stuff, but the site went a little wonky that my grandpa was a veteran and I appreciate all veterans who do their jobs and don't treat being a veteran as a pass to behave incorrigibly. My cousin, and a close friend are both active service right now, and I appreciate what they do for us very much.

Semper Fi to all of my Marine Brothers out there. And a thanks to everyone else serving in the Army, Airforce, Navy & Coast guard.

Just a bit of trivia:

Armed Forces Day - celebrates active duty personnel
Memorial day - Remembers those that gave the ultimate sacrifice
Veterans day - salutes those that served

All the best to all the vets.

I believe my grandfather on my dad's side was in the Army once upon a time. Also, my best friend is a "recovering jarhead" who served in the first Gulf War, then went to school afterwards on the GI Bill and joined Air Force ROTC and has been in the USAF ever since, rising to major (and, counting his USMC service time, is on track to retire next summer with his 20).

Today I took my boys to a band concert, parade of the colors, and memorial event at one of the local military cemeteries here. Pretty good turnout.

All gave some. Some gave all. Thanks to every one.

Nice to see another "blue beret" on these boards, I was in during the transition from SP to SF and still don't know what I should call myself :)

Thanks for serving and carrying on the tradition.
