Anybody Finished?

Kingmaker

Just had session 24, play about 4 hours per session

we are on about 2.7 out of 6 mods!!

Looking forward to see where everyone is and approximately how many sessions it has taken to get there!

The group I am running is not finished, we just got started. We've played six sessions of about 3.5 hours each. The two were prequel sessions, the first to get the group together in Restov, the other because we had two people missing and I didn't want to kick off the AP proper with two people missing. So the two melee types helped out with some other Restov issues.

So that puts us about 4 sessions in and with about six hexes in Stolen Land to explore and the Stag Lord still a threat to the region. I suspect tomorrow night's session will finish off Stolen Land.

We're on session 18 or so (not keeping careful track) and playing for 5 or more hours per session. We're only 1 session into RRR. We had an extended interlude between books 1 & 2 (see my "venture capital" thread.)

I've seen some groups on this board posting about activities in B4B, but nobody post about books 5/6 yet.

Here's our breakdown so far:

Book 1: 6 sessions
Book 2: 5 sessions with probably 3-4 more to finish

We typcically play about 4 hours for a session, but have occasionally had a marathon session that'll last up to 8 hours.

I have two groups and the first one is more experienced with two players who have two characters each, while the other has 2-4 players and has somewhat less experience.

All play is online using Fantasygrounds and Skype.

Group 1 (~85k xp): 10 sessions, finished the main plot of part 3 and also included City of Golden Death during part 2. They did the Crypt and Mask modules before starting KM, but not included in these sessions. Usually play for 8 or so hours.

Group 2 (~8k xp): 4 Sessions, nearing the end of part 1. Variable session length.

For group 1 some parts have been done outside of session, like the werewolf quest in part 2 which I did with one player over email.

We have had about 10 sessions, and are in book 4. Very close to the end. I will probably keep them there until they get to level 13.

Book 1: 8 sessions.
Book 2: 6 sessions, and we're about 75% way through it.

I guess we just don't get as much done as most groups. Even with 4.5 hour play sessions, there's just too much good roleplay to get in. :) We also have 5-6 people a session, so combat can get clogged up.

your doing fine we hace a few less sessions and it looks like we are at the same pace. all of you should post your adventures on obsidian portal. http://www.obsidianportal.com/campaigns/rising-to-power this is our adventure so far it is a bit behind because out narrator has been slacking but what he has got up there is priceless. We also have about 6 people

I know we finished a while ago and my regular GM just finished his second group on Wednesday. We're solidly into Serpent Skull and level 6 at the moment.

The last adventure was something of a letdown for my group, although I can see it working for a different gorup of people. Rest of the path more than made up for it though.

My group is at 30 official sessions each lasting over 4 hours (and some as many at 8-12) and we're nearing the end of what's actually to do with the fourth book, the title of which I forget. Basically we're finishing off exploring, and after some solo RP sessions with my GM I'll be looking for some high profile refugees.

I love Pitax so much I begged my GM for a solo spin off, maybe by the time we can actually get the group together to continue Kingmaker she'll be high enough level to influence the campaign, too.

Wow! Your group must have had twice-a-week marathon sessions to get through the AP so quickly. I'm glad you enjoyed the vast majority of the AP but seeing as you've played through the entire thing:

What were your favourite parts?

What parts did you like the least?

Entering #6 with a group I took over for my old GM who wasn't feeling Kingmaker anymore after Blood for Blood. Should be done with the AP in 3 or so sessions, though it feels rushed.

After 10 sessions (4-5 hours each) my group is just 4th level and has explored half the northern Greenbelt hexes, though the only dangerous thing left to confront is the Tatzylwyrm Den and the Stag Lord's Fort.

Though my PCs have started each of the last three sessions with the battlecry "Let's go get the Stag Lord now!" all three times they let themselves be distracted by other things. The closest they've managed is to watch the fort from 300 yards away.

Every time I roll a random encounter my Players become distracted. Last session a Tatzlwyrm snuck into my gnome sorcerer's tent, which woke the gnome with a silent alarm. He calmly bluffed the Tatzlwyrm into believing he was poisonous, and then bribed him to leave by giving him a shiny gem. The party decided to track the Tatzlwyrm the next day, and ended up at the Tatzlwyrm den.

They've had the Fangberry Quest since session two and every time they get near the Hex with the Fangberries, BAM another distraction.

After roughly eight 4 hour sessions, my group has just begun the second chapter. They have spent a full year of game time building up their capital city of Stag Hollow and farming the crap out of surrounding country side. They find the ability to decide when to kingdom build and when to just go out and explore very refreshing. I think its finally ocurring to them just how much fun a sandbox style adventure can be.

We've had 18 sessions, averaging about 5 hours each, and my players are maybe a third through KM2.

After 16 sessions we are in the first Third of RRR. The group just learned to hate Grigori and is exploring the western woods in the next session. We have one 5th level, four 4th level and three 3rd level characters. In general we are playing 3-5 hours, but never all the players at the same time. It is hard to get a big group together, all at the same time!

We are 9 sessions in (about 3-3.5 hour sessions) and just started Rivers Run Red. They just had their first run in with Grigori as well. They threw him out of town (But he'll be back, oh yes... he'll be Back!). I think Hate is too soft a word for how they feel about him.

Lilly Teskertin is also courting the party's Elven Bard (The ruler of the Kingdom). They met after the celebration from defeating the foe from Event 1, where she expressed an interest in all things elven. This led to a couple of the best quotes from the night (There are many to choose from every game):

Lilly - (Upon noticing the entire party is Elven or Half-Elven) "I wish there was a little elf in me."

Party's Witch Player(<Heavily Paraphrased>) - "What?!? <Gosh Darn it>! I spend a Hero Point to <Rooster>-Block him!"

My group prefers the exploring/fighting more than the kingdom building. We only have 5-6 months worth of kingdom building and only that many because Winter arrived. When the thaw hits I expect it'll be back to the wilderness.

So many of you seem to move so fast.

We got about halfway through Adventure #4 in about 10 sessions. That ended with a TPK. The group didn't tackle all the side quests, but made very efficient work of the meaty parts of the modules.

We averaged completing a module about every two 4-hour sessions.

I think we have had about 15 sessions at about 6-7 hours each. We just finished book 4. We have skipped some stuff - the exploration stuff seems less interesting and more of a strain on verisimilitude as they increase in level - in particular it creates lots of encounters to blow all of your resources, often at low CR opponents. But that has been replaced with some fun RP storylines (the King married Melianse, the General might be trying to marry Kisandra, the sorcerer's mother is Szuriel and they may have given her an artifact to free the 5th horseman...stuff like that).

I expect book 5 to be relatively short...the mass combats resolve quickly and don't require mapping...and the rest of the major combats all take place in one area.

Book 1: 8 sessions

Book 2: 7 sessions, with probably 3 more to go.

Book 1 is quicker than they rest as you don't have the players sitting around debating about kingdom growth.

Ill be lucky to get all 6 done in a year. 4 hour game sessions once a week.

"did u TPK cos you were only 4th lvl by the time u got there!!"

No. The group was 7th level and included 7 PCs. They were fairly balanced for the adventure. They were done in by very sound planning on the part of the NPCs.

Spoilers...

They were attacked by the entire Fort Drelev household at once with guards who had the Advanced Template applied ... twice. Even at that, it was a brutal fight that was a close call. The PCs even managed a bittersweet victory.

Not even out of the first book yet, and we've probably had upwards of 12 or so sessions. They've hit the major locations aside from the Stag Lord, but there's some other stuff I've worked in as well and there's a huge swath of exploration that hasn't happened yet. It amazes me how fast some people have managed to get through this, but I suspect they don't have a 6 month old interrupting the game regularly...

After six normal 4 hour sessions and 1 weekend 8-hour marathon, we are just finishing Stolen Lands. My group is very deliberate and trying to squeeze out every possible XP and GP in the adventure. I also expect they will want to take a lot of time with kingdom-building when we get to it.

7 5-6 hour sessions (one prologue session) and our crew just finished the last one with the Stag Lord (gasping) exploding his last breath.

It's slow going at the moment but they're being completionists with the map (that's what you get for giving them a 3-foot map and pencil crayons) and there was some AP on how to deal with the fort.

Don't matter, everyone's having fun. :)

yes...I plan on SAVORING the low levels I love so much compared to high-level math class melee. I'm going to make them use the slow xp track, so i can add stuff like Hook Mountain Massacre to the game as a major side-trek...
