Cleric and Oracle channel energy

Rules Questions

How does the channel energy class feature from cleric stack with the channel revelation of the life mystery for oracle? Based on the wording, "effective cleric level equal to your oracle level", I would assume that the cleric and oracle levels would stack to determine how many d6s of damage is healed, but that still leaves the question of how many times per day. Cleric is 3 + CHA times per day, and Oracle is 1 + CHA times per day. Does that mean that a multiclass cleric / oracle would be 4 + CHA times per day? Or 4 + 2 * CHA times per day? Or am I completely misinterpreting this?

This kind of thing would be a case where it overlaps not stacks. Meaning you take the highest.

3+Cha

I certainly would have them stack, for both per day and how many d6s. Flagging this for FAQ

I think the pertinent question is "Why do you want to be a cleric/oracle???" ;-P

According to RAW I would say you would end up with the following.

Cleric Channel
3+CHA Mod (effective level = Cleric level)

Oracle Channel
1+CHA Mod (effective level = Oracle level)

While they are the same ability neither class has any feature that allows the effects to stack.

So a 5th level cleric/3rd level oracle
with a 14 charisma could channel energy as a 5th level cleric (3d6) 5 times per day and then could also channel energy as 3rd level oracle (2d6) 3 times per day.

The abilities do not say they stack or count together in either case, so they are separate. Spells known/per_day/caster_level does not stack, channel energy does not stack either.

+1 you done got it sorted there

I figure they would stack as they are both cleric level based. Effectively if you are 5th level cleric and 3rd level Oracle you have 5 levels of cleric and your Oracle for channeling is 3 levels of cleric. So that would be 8 levels.

To use channel at the max you'd be limited on on the lower ability for the max damage for the channel at 4D6 but could use the cleric channel an extra 2 times at the lower damage of 3D6.

That's how I'd work it though.

As others have posted though by RAW I don't think they would stack unless it says they do. Like in the HV prestige class. I've seen this same issue come up with the Paladins ability to channel via LOH when multiclassed with Cleric.

So, would the solution for the Cleric/Oracle be exactly the same for a Paladin/Hospitaler (at level 4 when they can channel not using LOH) when combined with a couple of cleric levels?

But an offical reply would be nice. FAQ flagged.

I don't think they could possibly stack and must be treated as separate channels.

Consider this, the Life Oracle channels positive energy even if the PC is evil. An Evil Cleric/Oracle would channel negative energy 3+Cha times per day and positive 1+Cha times per day.

That is a very good point. Although the RAW as Kalyth pointed out made it pretty clear that they didn't stack, I think this helps to confirm it 100%. They are different class features... especially considering a cleric uses a divine focus and an oracle does not.

This is what I thought at first, too. But what happens when you take the Extra Channel feat? Where do you add the +2 times per day bonus? To the cleric daily limit or the oracle daily limit? Or both?

What happens if a Cleric/Paladin takes this feat?

Multiclass and Extra Channel

Multiclass Channel Energy stacking

The latter only dealt with it specifically applying to Turn or Control Undead feats though. I'd personally allow them to stack since you're already gimping yourself pretty bad by being a multiclass Cleric/Oracle. As such, I'd go with 4 + CHA.
