Do you have a favorite kind of giant.

I'm personally a huge fan of how you guys depict stone giants.

So if you don't listen to either group...what are some of your favorite bands/musical acts?

I have pretty ecclectic taste in music. My top five performers/bands would be:

John Carpenter
Dead Can Dance/Lisa Gerrard
Pink Floyd
Nine Inch Nails
Franz Liszt

What are some of your other favorite artists, or bands.

Hmm... I guess the next five would be:

Duran Duran
Eurthymics
Akira Ifukube
Muse
Phillip Glass

I don't. Giants to me are kinda dull and one-note. They're like vegetables; they're good for the game but kinda boring overall.

Working with/meeting so many passionate and creative and smart folks.

Being able to start work at 10:00 or 11:00 in the morning as opposed to 8:00 or 9:00.

Seeing creatures and characters and locations and things I've made up get illustrated by the best artists in the industry.

Being able to be a game nerd at work and not have folks think I'm weird.

The fact that the vast majority of the folks who take part in this thread are cool and lovely people and not the toxic internet folks who increasingly threaten to ruin things for everyone. Seriously. You all are the best. THANK you.

Singing out male or female singers is tricky for me since I generally prefer music without lyrics, but let's see... I guess it'd be:

Lisa Gerrard
Annie Lennox
Madonna
Bjork
Kylie Minogue

Is it wrong that when you said Franz Listz I thought of that one scene in Rhapsody Rabbit (Bugs Bunny playing the piano of Listz compositions) and someone called asking for him?

Will we learn in Return of the Runelords who was the Runelord that Nocticula's minions in The Moonscar made Mindbind Figurine of? :D

Yes.

Since you also worked on Armies of the Abyss for GR, is there any plans to possibly include what the relationship might be between Groteus and Raum?

I had nothing to do with Armies of the Abyss. That was Erik Mona.

Regardless, the flavor content of that book is not open content for us to use, so we can't do much about exploring a relationship between anyone in our setting and Raum.

So...which one of the GR fiend books did you work on? Or was it all Erik Mona?

I'm not sure which ones Erik worked on beyond Armies of the Abyss. I've never worked on a Green Ronin book though.

:O And when I thought I couldn't get even more excited...

BTW, will Return of the Runelord mention Alderpash as well? I doubt he will play a role in it, but learning more about the guy might be fun :D

Yes.

Technically, all of the runelords who have been runelords will be mentioned. IN some cases, it's just a name and the dates during which they ruled. In others, they'll be playing a much more important role, potentially in some cases "on screen" roles in the adventures.

Oh, thats cool. I always wanted to learn more about Kaladurnae and other dead(?) first runelords of their respective sins :D But yeah, no more questions right now, thank you for answers!

Personality wise, or ability wise, who would your top three runelords be and why?

With the new release of the Planar Adventures, one of the feats from the source has made huge waves: Healer's Hands. It states that you can make a Treat Deadly Wounds check as a full-round action. My question is: If you also have the Clockwork Surgeon Trait, which states that you can either TDW in half the amount of time required or add your INT Modifier to the amount healed, would you be able to reduce the full-round action to a move or standard action, or would it remain a full-round action?

Which of the Eldest would have CR 30?

Sorshen, Alaznist, and Karzoug. Can't really say why until Return of the Runelords is out, though, because that'd be spoilerrific.

Ask your GM, but to be honest, more healing isn't a bad thing for the game, since it helps to let the party cleric or whoever do other things in combat and helps to keep the game going without having a player sit at the table bored because there wasn't enough healing for their character to avoid being killed or knocked out.

Hmmm... the rules for the Great Old Ones/Outer Gods were a blast, since it gave me a chance to build something new for the game and play around with some concepts I'd been eager to explore (the interaction of a deity with the world). But the rules for dreamland cats were a blast to work on as well, and quite challenging because of the significant physical differences between a cat and what the baseline game assumes for every PC.

I typically don't bring in a lunch at all. Most of the time I head over to Whole Foods and grab something there.

Not only are dreamland cat PCs folks without hands... they're Tiny as well. And can't really talk. So there's a lot of weirdness going on.

This is all in the Sandy Petersen's Cthulhu Mythos book that just got released.

What does cthulu have to do with cats? These aren't tentacle faced cats are they?

More seriously though, if this is cthulu stuff, why "dreamland" cats instead of "cthulu" cats?

Is dreamland a particular cthulu-esque variant setting, or does it mean something else?

Lovecraft adored cats for one thing. But for another, cats play a significant role in the Dreamlands stories he wrote (the same cycle of stories that also brought us things like moonbeasts, gugs, nightgaunts, ghasts, shantaks, and all the stuff associated with Leng).

Check out "The Cats of Ulthar" for the quickest example of how Lovecraft used cats in this setting. "The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath" has more stuff too. Cats were an integral part of his life, and that shows in many of his stories.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia page that summarizes his Dreamlands work.

His dreamland stories are really fun; they're much more fantasy than horror, but horror still plays a heavy role in them.

Hi James,

Do ioun stones have a uniform orbiting speed?

Edit: to clarify, this is a flavor question, not a rules question.

Hi James,
I'm currently running Curse of the Crimson Throne, and we're loving every minute of it. So thank you!
I've got a question about something near the end of book 2...

Seven Days to the Grave:
Do the Grey Maidens know about the Temple Urgathoa beneath the hospice? There's none down there, and the text doesn't specify. I was wondering if the queen and Davaulus kept it from them as some kind of plausible deniability for the queen if the doctor's deception is uncovered?

My PCs managed to sneak through the hospice by causing a distraction, disguises and invisibility. Davaulus is likely to head down to the temple soon to check things out, but I'm trying to figure out if he'd bring any Grey Maidens with him.

Thank you for answering our questions!

Answer:

Spoiler:
The rank and file Gray Maidens don't officially know about the temple, as no one's told them and they don't ask questions, but several of them would have either suspected it or have learned it simply from observing things. Certainly none of them have been in the temple. Davaulus wouldn't bring Gray Maidens with him though; he's an agent of the Red Mantis and prefers them, or himself alone.

Under Asmodean law, if you are Dominated to commit a murder, are you still considered guilty of murder?

(I figure it would be a stupid question in any other town, but since they're Asmodeus worshipers, maybe there's a whole attitude of, "If you were weak enough to be Dominated, you deserve to be punished for what you did.")

What are the chances of you writing an adventure for Starfinder.

I'd personally love to see what you'd come up with for a space adventure.

The race entry for kobolds (one of my favorite races) mentions translucent scaled "ghost kobolds."

Any addition info you might know about them? Plan on ever using it, or is it just there as a tiny tidbit to spark gm's creativity?

No plans to use it today; that might change tomorrow. As with all the stuff, feel free to develop how you wish in your game, of course. If in the future we do something with them you get to decide which one is canon in your game or if it's a combination, of course.

In this post, you said Asmodeus is an ascended devil. Much of the info in other books heavily implies otherwise. Has his previous nature been retconned?

Goodpie2 wrote:

Asmodeus is a devil, the most powerful of them, and the only one to be a full-fledged deity. What he was originally was not necessarily a devil though. He is now, though, and his existence as a devil has done more to shape and create the entire race of devil kind into what it is in the game.

No retcon at all.

By "ascended devil" I mean "a deity who is also a devil," not literally "he was a devil that became a deity."

He likely predates the concept of devils originally, and helped create the concept by being who he is.

Good question! It's also possible that NO one will replace her, since not every Abyssal region needs a ruler. Time will tell.
