"Devil Nuns of Isger" AKA The Sisters of the Golden Erinyes

Advice

Liberty's Edge

I have been inspired by this all female coven of bad ass monk/ninja chicas but there is such limited info on them.

Sure, there is the Red Mantis, who are cool except for those ridiculous masks which I will most likley just "write out" of the fluff of my game and give them shrouds instead. However, the Red Mantis are way too far south of where my campaign is taking place, my primary focus now is the struggle between Andoran, Taldor, and Chelix, as well as the surrounding regions.

I cannot find anything official on this faction except for a simple stat block in the NPC guide.I have been slowing tying a monk character in my party to this group of sisters through the form of flashback sequences but I have been leaving them extremely vague. If anyone has ANY suggestions for me, PLEASE help meh!

For the time being, I am going off the assumption they have the attitude of the Mord'Sith from Legend of the Seeker, but going to give them sort of a crude ninja'esque look to them, using a variety of really nasty weapons. Afterall, they do mimic the combat style of Bearded Devils, who are some pretty ugly suckers.

Anyone?

There's a little bit on them in the campaign setting, including a regional feat that's specific to them (it's PHB2 Versatile Unarmed Strike with a Improved Critical+ bonus on top, very nice feat for monks).

Not PF, but the 3.5 feat Ascetic Stalker would work well.

Ascetic Stalker:

Ascetic Stalker
You have practiced a secret technique that combines your considerable talents in unarmed combat with a greater understanding of your inner ki.

Prerequisite: Ki power, ki strike (magic).

Benefit: Your monk and ninja levels stack for the purpose of determining the size of your ki pool. For example, a 4th-level monk/2nd-level ninja with this feat could use her ki powers a number of times equal to 3 (half the sum of her monk and ninja levels) + her Wisdom
bonus (if any).
Your monk and ninja levels also stack for the purpose of determining your unarmed strike damage, as well as your ki strike class feature. For example, a 4th-level monk/6th-level ninja would deal 1d10 points of damage with her unarmed strike, and her unarmed strike would overcome damage reduction as a lawful magic weapon (as if she were a 10th-level monk).
In addition, you can multiclass freely between the monk and ninja classes.

A monk skilled in hamataulatsu is a sight to behold. I also suggest picking up Cheliax, Empire of Devils, it has great feats for a monk (belier's bite*, cornugon stun, hamatula strike, and more) and also has a small blup about the Children of the Upper Reach. A group devoted to Iomedae and the study of melekatha, a martial art developed to combat hamatulatsu Also take a look at Patfinder 17 Council of Thieves: What Lies in Dust. The PCs wind up going to Massacre House, the home to The Sisterhood of Eitseth. These monks are the forerunners of the Golden Erinyes of Isger.

*Having ran a RotRL game with a monk (Araseh - female tiefling) from Isger. I can say this feat is awesome and in the early levels can be an encounter ender. Added to this use of hamatulatsu and you have one scary, scary monk

Until Paizo release some feats or alternative class features for Children of the Upper Reach I am treating them as a way for good-aligned characters to take Hamatulatsu and the feats in Cheliax: Empire of Devils.

Especially as Melek Taus is one of my favourite Golarion mysteries.

Interestingly enough, Melek Taus is a real world mythology figure: Wikipedia link

I found this out when I used Spotlight to find references to the name in my Paizo PDFs, and Spotlight also came up with an MP3 from my iTunes library, also named "Melek Taus", from the "Sirius B" album by Therion. This piqued my curiosity and I checked Wikipedia. :)

Aye, I was already aware of Melek Taus, not from Paizo but because Alan Moore has a follower of Melek Taus in his Top 10 comics.

Hamatulatsu (Combat)

You have mastered a deadly fighting form inspired by the hideous attacks of the barbed devil.
Prerequisites: Critical Focus, Improved Unarmed Strike.
Benefit: You can treat your unarmed attacks as bludgeoning or piercing. You decide which type of damage you deal whenever you attack a foe, but you may only choose one type at a time. If you critically hit a foe with your unarmed strike while doing piercing damage, the additional pain caused by the strike causes the foe to become staggered for 1 round. Multiple critical hits in a round against a single foe do not increase the duration of the staggered condition.
Special: Hamatulatsu may be selected as a substitute bonus feat at 6th level by a monk even if the monk does not otherwise meet the prerequisites. This fighting style is normally only taught to women of the Sisterhood of the Golden Erinyes.

This is a preview of how the Hamatulatsu feat has changed for the upcoming Inner Sea Guide (aka Revised Campaign Setting).

I've recently started an Isgerian game, where players start as peasants having to gather resources and survive winter.

The devil nuns will soon be the villains of this game. Kidnappers, brain washers, attackers.

Regarding the Devil Nuns -- I think it's interesting that Cheliax and its thralls are run exclusively by females at the highest level.

Isger has Lady Iyis and the Devil Nuns -- they have the real power there. Hedvend(sp?) has no real power.

Cheliax has Queen Abrogail and though her top dawg is a Pit Fiend, her top Lt. is an Erinyes.

Korvosa has Queen Ileosa as the "real" power. (Please no contradictions here from CotCT Spoilers!)

It seems like the Devil Thrall nations are designed with far more female powers than male.

You've never been married have you ;-)

Matt, every time I read something you've posted, I find myself laughing or agreeing. Well played, sir.

Scarab Sages

Three year necro, just for a LOL. nice.

On topic, if anyone is still interested three years later, the Hamatulatsu master archetype in Inner Sea Combat was written for the Sister of the Golden Erinyes.

I find this offensive. Why do they have to pick on nuns?

Asmodeus, he likes the ladies.

Eh, iirc in the lore he is not presented as particularly fair-minded in that regard, so it most likely did not come from him. Weren´t all of the highest ranking female-aspected devils the so-called Whore Queens? Not a very nice thing to call someone, even if she is your waifu from hell.
