Yes, it does.

Looks like it was a 'different' pet shop, but the CRD thread is always an easy guess.

We should make a list of all the pet shop threads and bribe Gary to make them 'go away'. Maybe a Top Ten?

To core the pet shops down to just 10. Man, it would just be easier to ban specific posters.

So, I get get an e-mail from my old private high school.

'We'd like you to complete a survey'
'Would you be intererested in low-cost health insurance?'
'Would you be interested in naming the school as a beneficiary?'
'Don't worry, no one will contact you unless you want them to.'

Wow. Creepy. Especially since one of my classmates died earlier this year, and I had my own brush.

Health insurance or life insurance? I, for one, think your school should spend less time in the Emergency Room.

Life, not health. Doh! I edited above about one of my classmates dying unexpectedly this year. I'm SO tempted to go off on them and their surveymonkey.

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. I learned a lot about banking history at that job, and banks and their role have changed so much over the years I'm not surprised at all that people try to keep these scams going.

Credit Union - but basically the same thing. I work in mortgages, so don't see it personally, but we get blast emails about what's going on and how to better catch it on our end to help save the member from making a costly mistake.

I saw a lot of that stuff when I worked at a bank, too. I was always proud when I could prevent it for somebody.

Me too. Before the age of debit cards, (1980s) we even got counterfeit food stamps.

Ah, Trek. A doughty bike from a solid company, I ride one myself. Looking around online I see a lot of the usual complaints however- mind your tires and your rims, as you'll probably get a lot of bending if you take the wrong type of trail. You already said you were going to make some changes there, so I'm assuming you are already prepared on that angle. On the whole though, I'd say she's a winner- certainly better than mine.

I don't plan on any serious trails yet. the pavement around here is bad enough to warrant a mountain bike. I have yet to succumb to the evils of Facebook, but I think I could check out those pics provided you haven't made them private or anything. Yeah, I'm familiar with what rough winters do to roads, spring is when I usually have to replace my tires if not suffer through a bent rim. I'm holding off on getting another pair of tires until I get this new bike...provided I actually sell the old one off.

Grr...Scams..Grr....

Depends. Typically Credit Unions will give better rates -- both on interest earned from savings and CDs as well as better rates like from car loans.

Like so many other things though, not all credit unions are created equal. There are good ones and ... well, not so good ones. Just kind of depends.

In general, financial institutions have become the easy targets of the government to blame for the current economic crisis. There will be some MAJOR changes to how financial institutions function in the next two years. And most of these changes will not benefit the general consumer like they are claiming they will. (Similar to the health bill.) But it will make life more difficult for the financial institutions.

Gotta love beauracracy.
