Buy off leader of the invading army. If he/she won't be bought, try the second-in-command. If no one in the command structure is bribe-able, try sowing discord in the troops with free parties. If you can't do that because they're some sort of 'always plot device evil' then maybe you can work on their allies?

Thanks for all the replies everyone! As you can see, this was first posted several months ago, so.... yeah, don't need the help anymore.
But thanks for your time! All great ideas.
What did you end up spending it on?
It was hookers and ale, wasn't it? Enough for every man in the opposing army?

Well, if any of the party has the GP Rain ability, you could kill the army that way. :)
"Make it hail"?
...Seriously, though: why not open Honest Bob's One-Stop Adventuring Shoppe? Hire craftsmen, animal trainers, blacksmiths, a barkeep or two, and an accountant (always important in this sort of venture!), and open a tavern/inn/armory/sundries store/stable/etc. Put it all together in that town that you own now and PROFIT!
"Come on down to Good Ole Honest Bob's One-Stop Shoppe! Low, low prices! The best quality weapons and armor! The prettiest barmaids this side of the dryad grove! All of your adventuring needs! We'll see you there!"
Or...you could buy yourselves an army.
Or, maybe...an assassin, to kill the pesky nobles running the opposing army?

Well... we ended up fortifying the town and turning it into a massive work yard for the construction of submarines and skyships. Running out of iron for hulls, we went into the mountains. Once there, we broke a century-long embargo the dwarves had created, and re-opened trade negotiations with them to gain their skill with metal, and other raw materials. After that, a natural disaster heralding the coming of the Elder Evils destroyed most of the rest of the continent, so we supplied the Resistance with our own arms and armor while we bunkered down in the far northern ice-lands in order to build a super weapon, having fled in our submarines with most of the townsfolk. Those left behind had volunteered, and been well-supplied with weapons of great strength.
The distraction of the Resistance worked, our relocated factory-town managed to produce a great semi-autonomous fleet of awakened battle-skyships, all powered by elder elementals and other eldritch bindings, led by a black dragon we had saved earlier, and we went to war against the terrible Elder gods from beyond the vale of stars.
