To the Isle of Dread, PBP Open Call

Gamer Connection

As the title suggests, I'm starting up a PBP, an altered cutout of the mid-to-late Savage Tide AP to be precise.
I'm looking for 3-5 regular posters as players, and in particular I think it would be nice to run a game for people who mostly GM games, particularly PBPs on these boards.

I’m putting together some campaign traits, and I don't mind if you've played this campaign before, I just ask that you don't metagame.

I myself can and will post at around 10am, 4-6pm and 0-1am PST every weekday, and if everyone could post in between those times every weekday we should move along quite swiftly.

This will use the Core Rulebook, 20 point point buy, two traits in addition to your campaign trait, with 150 gp starting gold and full starting health. All of the APG classes may be used, and anything else can be run by me if you want to use it, though as a warning I'm not a big fan of other base classes or races.

Please post here with a race/class/alignment, any PBPs you running or even better GMing which you think exemplary of your frequent posting and/or eloquence, this does not disclude new players, though any example of writing is a boon and finally a short rundown of your character concept. The ideas behind the campaign traits are a noble seeking claim to land on the Isle of Dread, a hunter/scholar of exotic animals, a person escaping a dark past in the Inner Sea to travel 2,000+ miles across the ocean, a Pathfinder initiate, a person tasked by their church to investigate rumors of demonic activity on the Isle.

Thanks in advance to all applicants!

Heh, ya know I am running Savage tide on the boards here. We are up to part three the sea wyverns wake. We will prob hit part 4 about nov it looks like.

Are you just doing the mid parts or just roughly basing them off the detail ground with in them?

Starting with the sea wyverns wake, though its the most heavily altered part. It'll be starting with 5-6th level characters depending on how many people are interested!

Interesting, What world are ya running it in? I used Eberron myself which required a bit of reworking :)

FOR THE GM:

Spoiler:
Hey GM, I have a weakness for druids and would love to play one in your game. The druid I am thinking about would be much like Mo'butu, a human, the druid you could find in my profile. Instead of being a scout/mapper, I would take the trait of him being a hunter of various exotic animals. He wouldn't be good, probably more of a lawful neutral or true neutral type, with no problem with harvesting some game, so long as it wasn't to excess. I would want some sort of ape or jungle cat animal companion. The druid would soend alot of time in animal/wild shape.

My longest game is Lucendar's Legacy of Fire, heading toward 2000 posts. My character in that game is Jarva, who can also be found in my profile. I am also good about warning the team when I will be out for the afternoon, so I don't slow up the adventure.

If you are interested, I can stat something more detailed out for you. Thanks for considering.

Golarion, the players accompany Lavina Vaneo from Eledar in Sargava, across the Arcadian Ocean skirting Azlant. As I said the journey is quiet different.

P.S. The above would be known by the player's almost from the start, so isnt a spoiler.

Looking good Gerald, consider yourself considered. I'll try and let people know as soon as possible whos in.

Thanks.

I'm definitely interested. I DM a couple of games on these board (one of which is fairly long-running but has changed its thread a couple of times) but haven't played or read the Savage Tide.

I'd like to try my hand at a CG human fighter, with a Pathfinder affiliation.

I'm running a Midnight game that has more than 2000 posts since february. I had to leave two games in which I was playing because my employer upped my work load, but I made the deadline so once again I am free. I'd love to play in pbp from beginning (in other games I joined at later date) and I have two characters to propose:

Bandobras Broggun, CG Male Gnome Sorcerer or - if you allow material from Bastards of Erebus - Vanya Grazztov, LG Male Tiefling Paladin from Irrisen, who seeks to escape his twice-damned ancestry.

Would it be a devil blood tiefling? Or other? I'll accept it if you sell me on a cool concept!

I've only ever tried one other PbP, that died pretty quickly. I have, however been playing/gming since '89. This would be my first Pathfinder. There aren't too many people around where I live that play.

I would be happy to do a Human, CG, thief.

Let me know.

edit: If someone could tell me how to do it, I could post the link to the game I did play in. I like the character I used and would like to use it again, if possible. I would redo the stats, of course. I am able to check/post pretty frequently throughout the day.

Grazztov as in "Descendant of Grazzt". Ages ago a daughter of Baba Yaga had a fling with Prince of Darkness and Vanya is the last scion of that bloodline. He is not welcome in his homeland of Irrisen because he reminds the rulers of that country that once Baba Yaga had a daughter so powerful that she bore a child to the Lord of Three Layers. Of course, Vanya is nowhere near his ancestor in power. Blood has been diluted through the ages, but there is still something in him of the Sire of his line, the Prince of Darkness himself.
Vanya has wandered the world ever since his banishment from Irrisen, seeking redemption from the sins he has never committed.

So demon-blooded? Keep in mind that Grazz't isn't really in Golarion, though I'm okay with a Baba Yaga cross pollination, she has travelled to other worlds, etc. But Grazz't himself has no part on Golarion, and you can choose a more relevant demon lord if you want. Okay, it is interesting. Which campaign trait would make him want to go to the Isle of Dread?

Yes, he would be demon blooded and I would like to use stuff from Bastards of Erebus to make him unique. I'd like to take Fiendish Heritage feat and roll on that table for Tiefling traits. I think that his background fits with "a person escaping a dark past in the Inner Sea to travel 2,000+ miles across the ocean". I'd like to make him very weird for a paladin and to customize him as much as possible. For instance, I would love to somehow get him a Hell Hound pet when he reaches high enough level.

What level do the characters start at? You mentioned 150 starting gold but then went on to talk about 5-6th level characters.

Black Tom wrote:

Yeah, sorry, 150 gold was a misprint. The starting level will be 5-6 depending on whether I get 4 or 6 players. 4 players= level 6, 6 players = level 5.

We have four applicants as of now, as I don't think seeker was asking to play, so I'll wait until this time tomorrow and if we don't get anyone else, the current four applicants will be a go and we can get the character sheets together.

Since we seem to have a paladin and a rogue I'm thinking of emending my concept to a fighter1/bard 5, maybe a member of the Pathfinder society or something like that.

I will throw my hat in. I used to play in Nightflier's Eberron Campaign till he got swamped at work. I currently play in Kalderaan's Dawn of Defiance Campiagn as Colvin Dashwind (I have about 100 posts). I DM an Age of Worms campaign table top and I also am a Storyteler in a Vampire the Dark Ages game. I post about 2-3 times a day on the weekdays and at least once over the weekend.

The concept of a Cleric investigating rumors of Demonic activity would interest me (Cleric is my favorite class). I am thinking dwarf and if 3.5 prestige classes are allowed building towards the Sacred Exorcist. Let me know if this sounds good to you Eoin and I can start drafting a character sheet.

Just as a heads up...I know nothing about this adventure. I remember it from Dungeon, but never read about it.

If you have any room for another, I'd like to enter the fray. I already have a cleric in Black Tom's citadel By The Sea game, and post everyday, once or twice depending on what's happening. He knows me as the Mad Cleric....

If you have room for a human sorcerer, a lawful good lord seeking to lay claim to his lands and bring hope and justice to his vassals on the Isle. I would be happy to come up with a background and get one stated out.

I'm in the UK and post in the morning and the evening here, occasionally throughout the day.

I'm Irish so we'll be in sync!

I think your our sixth.

We have:
Gerald, Druid, Monster Hunter
Black Tom, Fighter/Bard, Pathfinder
Nightflier, Paladin, Fleeing Past
RaFon, Rogue,
Dennis, Cleric (of Torag?), Demon Seeker
Deevor, Sorcerer, Noble Claimant

That seems good! I'll put up the OOC thread soon and you can all start making your 5th level characters.

Can everyone confirm their interest and intended characters, I'll have the board and camapaign traits at 11-12 PST, 7-8 GMT all going to plan.

@Nightflier: A tiefling would need to take Tiefling Bastard as a trait, so you'd lose darkness and replace elemental resistance with bonuses, though we'll tailor those bonuses to sync up with demon resistances. and you can take the demon-tielfling stat array. You won't be able to take Fiendish heritage however. Otherwise Grazztov is okay.

@Dennis Harry: I'm going to say no the the sacred exorcist, it has full spell and channel progression, along with a load of class features that far outweigh any domain abilities. Sorry!

I'll change his name and parts of his background so that he is not tied to Grazzt, and I'll go with paladin/sorcerer with Eldritch Knight as a goal.

Hope you don't mind, but I would like to change the proposed class from sorcerer to Wizard. I think it's more in keeping with the sort of character I have in mind, when you meet Sir Percival de Louupe.

GM, I will stat out the druid this evening. Gotta take a road trip this morning for work.

No problem, I will continue on as a straight cleric :-)

I will start drafting the character today.

I will try to get a character up this evening. I have a long work day, but will try to check back a little later. I am EST., by the way. I may have a few questions, here or there. I will try to not be too pesty.

Halstadt (Dennis harry PC) is pretty much ready. I believe there is a special DM created trait. I bought gear based on 150GP. All Feats and Spells are from Pathfinder Core.

Let me know if he looks OK Eoin, and I will start on the background. (I thought about multiclassing as a Celestial Sorcerer to add some more flavor to the Demon Hunter aspect of the character but have opted against it for now).

Eoin, will you open Discussion Thread?

He's started...I have a lot done already..but will need to know how many spells you will allow him in his spellbook and I'll start to get him ready. I'm considering having evocation as an opposition school..which all my senses scream...NO..but it might make it an interesting wizard..or a dead one..

This weekend is gonna be difficult to get much done and I don't expect to have a lot of opportunity to access the computer. I have to help my daughter move house, from one student den to another...That's Saturday out the way...Sunday will be doing home stuff...plus England Vs Germany is on...that's a few beers and probably a lot of disappointment. This might not translate so well into the US, but its the world cup...its ... well it just is...@ DM Eion: oooh just read the I'm Irish bit...then you know what its like over here...I should have realised from the name really...duh!!

Will be back again on Monday and normal service will be resumed and Sir Percival will get completed pretty quickly.

Here is the discussion thread! I'll address thing there from now on! Glad to see you all enthuased for this!

I've had a cancellation. Is anyone else interested in palying this 5th level game? If so the creation guidelines are on this and the OOC thread, including my short houserules.

We have a paladin/sorceror wannabe eldritch knight;
a wizard;
a cleric;
a combat focused druid;
a rogue.

Feel free to play anything you want!

It's first come, first served if you can dedicate enough time to this! And have an character sheet ready by monday!

Regards!

Hello ^^ I could join just let me read the requirements for your pbp ^^

Edit: Nevermind I don't qualify so I won't waste your time^^ thanks

Still looking, any one interested?

I'd love to, you might have to give me a few to catch up but as night flier can attest I am willing to dig in and build. How strict are you on the posting times and every days, I work a crazy schedule some some days might work out perfectly and some days I might need to be in the back ground a bit.

what do you think?

I would take 5 levels in a tank class

You can take levels in whatever you'd like, we havent' actually started yet.

As for posting if your willing to let me take actions for you in battle and move on ahead that's okay, as long as you make the effort to post when you can I'm sure we'll be fine.

Absolutely!

p.s. I am starting my first pbp as a gm as we speak. I am kicking off the fallen fortress and am loving being behind the wheel thus far.

Sorry for not being done yet. Missus went on a shopping spree and I was drafted as a mule.

I'm building my character right now, and I was wondering something - I'd like to take Dragon Disciple, but it doesn't fit with my character's theme. So, either I change my bloodline to Draconic, or I create a prestige class called Demon Disciple. What do you think, Eoin?

How about be the descendant of a draconic demon lord? Or just a powerful abyssal gold dragon? Then as a tiefling with draconic bllodline it all makes sense. You want to embrace paladinhood and the good side of your gold dragon heritage?

P.S. Mule, I feel your pain!

Cool.

Okay, so you'd be playing the half-orc Kiron Whitemoon? What class; barbarian, fighter, cavalier? Other?

Sure. I can work with that. I had something similar in mind myself.
