How does taking a T-rex as an animal companion at 1st level work?

Pathfinder Society

Quick question for Pathfinder Society Rules:
I've got a player who wants his druid to take the T-rex for his 1st level druid for our next PFS game.

How does it scale down from an 18d8 damage for a bite?

Thanks,

jh

It is all right on page 86 of the Bestiary, at the bottom of the page in the T-rex Companion stat block:

Quote:

Tyrannosaurus Companions

Starting Statistics: Size Medium, Speed
30 ft.; AC +4 natural armor; Attack bite
(1d8); Ability Scores Str 14, Dex 16,
Con 10, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 10; Special
Qualities low-light vision, scent.

7th-Level Adv.: Size Large; AC +3
natural armor; Attack bite (2d6);
Ability Scores Str +8, Dex –2, Con +4;
Special Qualities grab, powerful bite.

Edit: YES! I actually ninja'd someone! ;) lol

According to the PFS Guide 2.2:
You can take a T-Rex right out of the Bestiary.
It has an entry Tyrannosaurus Companions starting statistics.
It's on the bottom of the page.

Starting Statistics: Size Medium, Speed
30 ft.; AC +4 natural armor; Attack bite
(1d8); Ability Scores Str 14, Dex 16,
Con 10, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 10; Special
Qualities
low-light vision, scent.

DOH!
Beaten by 1 second, shouldn't have taken the time to highlight.

EDIT
Now I'm ahead. Is it possible we submitted our posts at exactly the same time? But, we can still go by the original. You got me by mere moments. I can accept defeat gracefully.

Yeah, it originally showed our posts posting at the exact same second and somehow mine went first. Probably if I had edited mine again while it was still editable after you had edited yours, it would have moved mine back ahead of yours again. I am not sure if I have seen any message board system let posts swap places like that before.

Heh! That's the ticket! Looking at them though, the stegasaur is much better. 2d6 tail and a whole lot more armor.

hah, i was going to say that at 1st level the T-Rex realizes it doesn't want a humanoid animal companion and eats the druid.

I wonder if the druid could train him to be a vegetarian? On the other hand, if he could train the T-Rex to eat everybody's new favorite..the boar mount, then we'd see some real injuries (to quote george carlin) and there would be much rejoicing. yaaaaaaaay

Now I'm imagining a guy trying to ride a stegasaurus.

"Ow, my balls!"

You just ask James really nicely to come play and not kill everyone.

Instead of reading the attached quoted comment that lead to this response, my eyes immediately moved upwards to Hogarth's post of:

It's amazing what one's mind does sometimes.

So would that stegosaurus at first level have AC20 and do 2d8 damage with a tail slap?

20 ac yes (+6 natural + 4 dex) 2d8 tail Nope (gets that at 7th)

Starting Stats: Size Med.; Speed 30 ft.; AC +6 natural armor; Attack tail (2d6); Ability Scores Str 10, Dex 18, Con 10, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 10; Special Qualities low-light vision, scent.

7th-Level Adv: Size Large; AC +3 natural armor; Attack tail (2d8 plus trip); Ability Scores Str +8, Dex –2, Con +4.

and then you modify it by the chart by your level.

That is an absurdly high dex for that thing...

If you awaken it, you could have a radical stegosaurus rogue.

Get the fiendish template on the T-Rex somehow and you could have Devil Dinosaur and Moon-boy.

If you have an Aasimar you could make it a Celestial T Rex

No awaken in society play right? Also T-Rex is not the best at low levels so let him. Nice flavor though (the T-Rex, not the druid... druids needs ketchup)...:)
