Ok this is my new PbP, anyone and everyone welcome, the game will start on Sunday 4th of April, anyone who wants to play must have a character done by then. I have no target number of players so all are welcome.
Setting: set in Golarion, on the northern part of the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, each player will be playing a tribe leader. There is a terrible force that is keeping all the tribes in the area suffering in terror. A large tribe of Frost Giants, Hill Giants and Ogres lead by a colossal brute that raid the tribes for slaves. Several tribes have already been utterly destroyed by their force. The only option now is to band together and fight these monsters!
Character creation: 25pt build, lv12 characters, pathfinder classes (though I may be convinced for 3.0/3.5 builds), 20,000gp on equipment (money is hard to come by) any of the core races (elf, human, dwarf, gnome, ect), you can play of any alignment, but if your going to play NE/CN/CE you can’t have a character who just wishes to destroy everything, I don’t mind players being evil or chaotic but I won’t tolerate characters designed that will inevitably lead to PvP. Also please do keep to the theme; wizard and alchemist characters are inappropriate, as are paladins and monks. Every player will start with a tribe they own, represented by having the leadership feat for free, the stats for your followers are flat out 10 in every one before racial modifiers and cohort is a 15pt build. Half of your followers must be non-combatants, this half is done by level (ei half of your lv1s, half of your lv2s ect) lv1s non-combatants are always commoners, the other non-combatants can be any NPC class you like except for adept. You can’t have caster followers (though your cohort can be a caster), also you can’t have alchemist or monk followers (doesn’t fit the setting really) and you may have no more than 4 paladins/inquisitors for your followers (since they would be rare). Each of your followers has 50gp per level to spend on equipment, and your cohort has 10,000gp to spend on equipment. You can’t pool together the money to buy expensive equipment. Each character will also start with 1 trait of each kind (combat, faith, magic, social, race, regional and religious) you can use any trait from any of official Paizo product, but I expect your character’s background to explain why they have it.
Aaand finally each player has to give a name to their tribe, a quick description on the ethos/strengths/weaknesses of the tribe, what the tribe is renowned for and a short description of the tribe’s symbol. Any additional information on your tribe is optional but appreciated and might come into play.

Actually, I have a question. Since this is the Realm of the Mammoth Lords, would it be possible to play a Cavalier with a Mastodon mount (using the Bestiary Elephant/Mastodon animal companion stats)? Technically the most recent APG playtest says "horse or camel" for medium sized Cavaliers, but it also says "The DM might approve other appropriate mounts".

I would be interested in making a half elf druid with a mastodon animal companion. This would be my first pathfinder character and my first PbP, so I don't know if you would want me playing. If not let me know, I would understand. The idea sounds really interesting and fun though.
I have been playing D&D since advanced, but my group still plays 3.5 so my experience with pathfinder is limited.

to Zurai: its 1 feat to ride the mammoth (homebrew not official), you have to use exotic saddels, and its x2 the cost for large and x4 the cost for any armour the mammoth may wear (+the feats for the mammoth)
to Celedar: sure you can join, just make the character and read up on the rules again so you know whats going on, also i recomend you see a few of the PbP here so you get a feeling on how the are runned

This is a cool idea and I am curious to see how this will be run.
I am thinking up a character now. It will be a challenge jumping into a 12th level character right away.
I have never build a cohort of tribesmen from scratch. Are there established rules somewhere for this?
I still do not really understand from your instructions how to build my tribe.
1. How many tribesman do I get and how do assign levels to them? I understand that they all have flat average ability stats. 1/2 are non-combatants.
2. Buy cohort do you mean a single 15-point buy henchman/captain?
Please clarify. I have already begun to draw up a character.
Thanks.

Ok, thanks for letting me play. I have changed my character to a dwarf fighter trying to lead his clan in his fathers absence. I decided to try and play a simplier character for my first pathfinder character.
I have a few questions though. Do we get any other modifiers on our leadership score or is it just level plus charisma mod? And lastly, should we post our characters here or do you want them in another format?

i don't have those books unfortunatly so no i won't be using them
as for races; well i'd prefer if you kept to the core races but if you whant to play something else let me know
for the leadership score, i'll award bonuses (or penalties) depending on character background and concept and cohort (probably no more than a +or-2)
yes post your characters here
sure i'll keep you in reserve
aaaand
i'll be nice, your character and your cohort will have full hit point but followers will only have 1/2 hit points, to simplify things
also the number of non-combatants are rounded down, with no minimum

Heroes of Battle is a sourcebook for mass warfare and Powers of Faerun is a sourcebook with rules for PCs to run organizations and countries. Not necessary, but they get my recommendation.
Since the action is taking place in the land of the Mammoth Kings, would barbaric tribal races such as Hill Giant, Centaur, or Ogre be available with the proper level adjustment?

I'm very interested by that kind of game. However, I will be on holidays the 4th of April and the following week (up to the 10th) without internet access.
However, if you want to consider me as an alternate, I've come up with a quick background for the tribe and character. No numbers right now, but just give me feedback if it's what you're looking for.
50 years ago, the Saber-Fang tribe was a great tribe numbering more than 150 hunters. Living as auroch hunters, the tribe followed the migration paths of the beasts, carrying their belongings on some domesticated beasts backs. They would hunt the old ones or the injured, culling the herds from their weakest. As part of the pact with the herd, they would protect the young calves from the saber tooth tiger attacks and the toughest warriors wore saber-tooth tigers skins.
Nial was the fifth son of the tribe chief. With good senses and balance, he was trained as a scout and excelled as an archer, always hitting his target. his prowess gave him the right to the Hunter Bow, a magical ivory recurved bow that the tribe gave to the best archer.
When the attacks started a few years ago, he was sent to the south to find a wife to bring new blood to the tribe. His quest took him first to an oracle in the Tusk Mountains who revealed him he needed to go far to the south to find the one that would live with him. He would recognize her as the woman bathed in blood, the last standing in a field of corpses. In his mind this vision amounted to a strong barbarian woman fighting off hordes of enemies.
His journey took a few years where he joined different tribes in search of her without success. One day, through his dreams, he was contacted by the tribe Shaman urging him to come back. His father and one of his brothers had been killed by a tribe of giants that were raiding the land and taking slaves. He hurried north, nearly killing himself out of exhaustion to find the last camp of his tribe at dawn. As a last defense, wooden stakes had be raised but were smashed to splinters. Corpses were everywhere and all the remaining tribesmen had been taken as slaves. All but one. as he prepared a pyre to burn the corpse, he saw movement. A single woman was still breathing. Bathed in the blood of the recently slain she had just been unconscious due to a blow that has splintered her tight. She had just hours to live as the wound was deep and she was moaning in her pain.
Cradling her in his lap, he prayed for whoever could save her and for guidance to reclaim his tribe.
Suddenly, as the first light reached her body, it seemed to take fire and to propagate to all the corpses around her. While they turned to ashes, the flames licking her wound knit back the flesh and bone and she was whole again. A voice was heard in the rising Sun. "You prayed for revenge and healing for your tribe. I heard you. When there is no redemption possible, it is time for war. Go, go and and fight."
Over the last months, Nial (ranger) and Serra (now a priestess of the Dawn Goddess Sarenrae and cohort of Nial) have infiltrated a small giant encampment and freed a few of their tribesmen. The Saber Fang tribe numbers now three to four hands people with half of them young men and women able to fight. The other ones are for half kids that were strong enough to survive or old ones experts in crafting and tanning furs (experts).

Ok, I would love to play an elven Barbarian, They will be an elven tribe, of the wooly Rhino, A nomadic tribe that follows the Herds of Wooly Rhino for sustanace, it just so happens that the herd has taken them to the mammoth lord's region in their time of need.
Much like the Rhino themselves they are quick to anger when perceiving danger to their tribe.
My cohort will be a female ranger.
Any chance on picking up the same exotic mount deal except with the wooly Rhino's?
(Also i was going to suggest that if you were up for it, that I would also be up for scraping the ranger cohort if someone would rather play my cohort and so they don't have to keep track of all the minions.)
I will have Frost runner up sometime this weekend.

far_wanderer again. I had a few more minutes free than I thought so I figured I'd post what I had so far. The very very short version of the backstory is: Aging ogre gets kicked out of his home, wanders into the mountains, fights a dragon turtle, has a divine revelation, adopts a small tribe of halflings through various hi-jinks.
| Brup Scale-Slayer |
Backstory is completed and posted. All that's left is to spend my cohort's remaining gold on his mundane equipment. Let me know if there's anything I need to change.
As for the information you asked about the tribe:
Name: Dragonvale (adjective/plural: Dragonvoles)
Ethos: Work hard, then play hard. Always help those less fortunate than yourself, unless they turn on you.
Strengths: Very teamwork-oriented, hard to find and easily defended location, all-year access to fresh water and food.
Weaknesses: Not very large, composed mostly of halflings.
Emblem: This avatar image, but with a turtle-shell border instead of a snake skeleton.
Brup hears about the growing threat of giants and sets off to investigate, taking Caleb with him as an adviser and translator. The rest of the tribe stays put for now, although in case of very great need Brup might return and gather the warriors.

ok, Great, thanks for the patience. I promise to make it worth your while in game!
As you can see I dropped, the Rhino mounts, barbarians can run faster than the Rhino already and after reading a lot about them in wiki, there are several ways to hunt Rhino that Barbs would be capable of.
so mounts altogether unnessacary.

Zurai here. This is my main character and his animal companion. No background or other description written up yet; I'm still trying to decide whether I want my cohort to be the witch and have my lieutenant as my level 3 follower or vice versa, and I need to make that decision before I write up the background.
Also havn't decided on a tribe name or emblem yet.
