Sounds fine to me.

32/42 HP

Rolling for level hp, adding a die for 3 HP:
1d8 ⇒ 7, 1d8 ⇒ 4

Other than that, I leveled up Lyria.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Yelm stays behind and enjoys some bed rest as his broken ribs heal. As you return to the depths of the dungeon and proceed past the still-burning remains of the treant, you hear the noise of rushing water ahead.

On your right hand a huge stone has been dragged through the sand and wedged into a crack to block off some sort of opening, and beyond it passages branch off left and right.

So, left, right or ahead or do you want to examine the stone? It is too big for any normal person to be able to move it. Then again, adventurers are hardly normal in any sense of the word.

Listening by the stone (Perception 15):

Spoiler:
You hear a faint scratching from the other side of the stone

Female Human Barbarian 7

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

Pausing as she tilts her head toward the stone so she can listen, "Do you here that? Something is scratching at the other side." She takes a long look at the rock sizing it up.

32/42 HP

"I believe that if we want to clear this area we can't really leave this rock here and untouched", Lyria says and readies herself for an upcoming battle.

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Mahaffy smile and then say
let me try something " He moves near the stone Hullo there !Would you be an ogre ?

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

"Right, 'cause that's suuure to work"

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

No answer is fortcoming, just more scratching.

Perception 20:

Spoiler:
You also hear an eerie moaning, which reminds you of a Howler baying.

Female Halfling Bard 1

Perception

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Female Human Barbarian 7

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26

Putting her ear to the stone she frowns, "Sounds like the baying of a howler. Used to hear that out on the plains. Not sure though, could just be something moaning."

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Perception 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
I think that would louder. some kind of undead maybe . Anyway , if it can not communicate , it must not be a thinking creature .

32/42 HP

"Whatever that is, I don't like the idea of leaving it untouched and behind us, even though the passage is blocked now".

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

OK, let me put it this way:

What you hear sounds like a howler muffled by a very large rock.

And to refresh your memory, you actually fought a couple of the beasts at the beginning of this adventure.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Can we tell how the rock might have been placed? Sheer brute strength (are there massive footprints here)? Signs of mechanical help - lever, wheel tracks, etc.?

Roylenna favors the dwarf with a wrinkled nose when he asks the mystery creature if it is an ogre. Bored, she walks around the cavern looking for something more interesting than a rock.

Perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Massive footprints there are, yeah. Looks like something large and with cloven hoofs. A Survival check or maybe Knowledge (something) might tell you more.

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Well, this is the only one I've got...

Knowledge (Arcane) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

"Wow! Look at this, guys!"

Ftr1/Pal1 | LG | AC(19)17/14/16 | HP 18//18 | F+5,R+1,W+0 | Init+ 1 | Smite Evil 1/day

How about a little bit of ...

Know. Planes 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

"So I'm thinking some cloven hoofed bastard, probably a minotaur, because that's just how our luck goes, put this here to keep the howler at bay. Which means that it's probably starving and will eat the next hapless person to move the rock if we don't take care of this."

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

"Don't some devils have cloven hooves? Or is that just imaginary stuff?" She looks around the cavern a bit nervously from where she stands, "Gregori, you can see bad stuff, right? I mean, you can see that it's bad? Do you? See any, I mean?"

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

Gregori smiles at Roylenna nodding.

"I know what you mean."

The Paladin's eyes take on a brilliant blue-white glow going pupiless as he scans the area.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Survival: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20

Laughing out loud, "I don't think if a person could move this they would be very.......hapless Gregori." She begins to dig out some sand on this side so the rock will be easier to move toward us.

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

All you can figure out is that it could well be a minotaur, but it would be an unusual kind. This one has a tail. The size and build is consistent with a minotaur, though.

If you want to try to move the rock it's simply a strength check. At least two of you can use Aid Another if you like.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Looking over toward Roylenna, "You wanna make me big so I can move this thing?"

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Roylenna looks doubtful, "I think I want to find the thing that put the rock there first, before we wear ourselves out on its pet."

But if the party wants to do this first, yeah, one Enlarge Barbarian Princess coming right up...

32/42 HP

"I agree with Gregori. We should take care of this creature before advancing on and looking for whoever put it behind this rock".

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Well, it's a Strength 26 check to move the rock, so be my guest.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Strength check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 That will make it if we have two people assisting. Otherwise...
Strength check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Strength check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20
Strength check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30 Got it!
Strength check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Strength check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

+ 12 bonus , you have 34 strength ?

Mahaffy will assist ..
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

or not in fact ...

Female Human Barbarian 7

No, but I have strength surge which gives me my level as a bonus to my checks. So, 19str+2enlarge+4rage=25str=+7 to check +5 for strength surge= a total of +12. Rage and surge then rest. Rinse, repeat. Satisfied?

Impressed rather

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

With only a little help from the rest of you, Ka'kara manages to push the giant boulder aside, releasing three very annoyed howlers.

Roll for initiative. I'll get a map up later today.

Female Halfling Bard 1

Init

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Ftr1/Pal1 | LG | AC(19)17/14/16 | HP 18//18 | F+5,R+1,W+0 | Init+ 1 | Smite Evil 1/day

Init. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Three? Really?

Roylenna sighs with an "I told you so" attitude and prepares to do what she can.

Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Your map

The dogs go on 12, so I Artival, Roylenna and whoever else beats 12 can act.

Ftr1/Pal1 | LG | AC(19)17/14/16 | HP 18//18 | F+5,R+1,W+0 | Init+ 1 | Smite Evil 1/day

Artival steps back to K15, and fires a bolt of lightning at the howler at H1.

Ranged Touch Attack for Scorching Ray 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Damage 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 5) = 16

Female Halfling Sorcerer (celestial)

Ka'kara is already enlarged, right? If not, Roylenna's action will be to cast Enlarge Person on the barbarian.

If Ka'kara is enlarged, Roylenna will cast Spectral Hand.

32/42 HP

Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Yeah, Ka'kara is Enlarged. Forgot about that. Corrected the map.

The horrible smell of abyssal flesh burning spreads as Artival's bolt hits home. Roylenna conjures a ghostly hand.

Still waiting for initiatives from Ka'kara, Mahaffy and Gregori.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Male Dwarf Rogue 5

Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20

Mahaffy will move to I12 and strike the howler at H1
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 241d8 + 3 + 3d6 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (1, 3, 4) = 12

I hit it ! I hit it ! (ok not for much but still ... )

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

1d20 ⇒ 4

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Sorry I wasn't entirely clear, but since Ka'kara is Enlarged she's taking up four squares. Let's see where Mahaffy can go after Kaäkara acts.

Ka'kara is up, then I'll resolve Mahaffy and then the beasties.

Female Human Barbarian 7

Don't honestly see what I can do other than swing at it. I am surrounded and stuck in the narrow hallway. If she can move through the party she will step back behind the group (to the right, I guess) and let the howlers come to us.

Spear attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11 Awwwww, what the?!
Damage: 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21

Ka'kara attempts to stab the howler with her spear but catches the wall in the narrow confines.

You should be able to move through allies' squares if that's what you want. With your reach, you can certainly stand behind someone and still get your attack in. (Normally, if not this round.)

Male Human (mostly) Ex-cleric and Grumpy Cat

Ka'kara's spear attack misses and she tries to move back letting the dogs out. Mahaffy steps into the fray and hits the howler in the side. He gets stung by the quills for 4 points of damage and a Reflex 14 or it gets stuck. The howler snaps at Mahaffy, but the canny dwarf is too quick for it. The other howlers set up a fearful baying, echoing down the dungeon.

Not sure if you like this, but it was the only way I can make sense of the map.

Your turn, all of you.

M Aasimar Paladin (Warrior of the Holy Light ) 5

Gregori steps forward, blade flashing as he strikes.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

"Time to shut these things up"

32/42 HP

Lyria fires a bolt at a howler, scratching it.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19, Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
