Working! I may not get selected this time, but I will consider it a personal failure if I don't at least get a submission in.

Have fun, everyone!

Liberty's Edge

Submitted a Sidetrek for the Isle of Kortos: 325 words, bang on the nose.

I won't be able to go to PaizoCon this year (dang flabbit blasted economy), so I will only be able to pick up my copy on PDF. I don't think there is a thread yet for the PDF edition, so I'm going to put my one suggestion here:

When you're considering the layout, would it be possible to keep the background white? While I love the look of Wayfinder #2, I would prefer to sacrifice as few print cartriges as possible on the altar of creating my own dead tree copy.

I'll try to screw up my courage to submit something, as well (I DM for my regular group, but I don't really think of myself as a writer).

Whew! Ole Soricel submitted, must rest these tired gnome hands. Ahh beer!

Well, how can I turn down a request like that?

Just submitted my second article, this one an Absalom-related "Weal or Woe" piece.

Liberty's Edge

Gah. Mine's still about 1650+ words.

* goes off to continue revising *

Lilith, if someone wants to submit an illustration that would accompany my submission, should we submit them together or separately?

Although I submitted my piece at 1250+ words, upon looking it over, I think it would be better served by another 500 words or so. Is that acceptable? Should I just continue it as a second part?

Liberty's Edge Contributor

Grrr...still only about halfway through the first draft. This is going to be tight. Fingers, don't fail me, now!

Liberty's Edge

mine own "tales from the front" is ready... just need one more editorial pass and I will be satisfied...

    No "cheesecake/beefcake/fan service"??

There might be some unofficial stuff floating around PaizoCon. I'll say no more on this though. ;)

OK, one submission has been made. If I can finish up the other by tomorrow, you'll get another, otherwise I'll have something for #4. ;)

    Liberty's Edge Contributor

Got another 400 words written tonight...I might actually finish this story tomorrow...[fingers crossed]

    Sovereign Court

Important question now that the deadline is upon us: what time on the 17th is the cutoff for submissions?

I am working on a weal or woe article, but may not have it ready for submission tonight.

No specific time for submissions. :)

Oh, good! That gives me some time to cut 391 more words from my story AND give it another editorial scrub. ;)

    *sent Tales from the Front*

Sent in a Gods & Magic style write-up of Milani.

Excellent! I was hoping for a little more on Milani, as I have an inquisitor of Milani for my PFS character!

Oh, and just sent in an NPC entry for another of Ostog's party companions. ;-)

    Sovereign Court

I sent a new Boswic letter and a new prestige class

I'm going to cross my fingers now

I'm new to posting here, but quite dig the Pathfinder system and game world. My submission is in, hooray for community content!

Real life got in the way this time. Hopefully I'll be able to finish, edit, and polish a few things in time for Wayfinder #4 (fingers crossed).

Big thanks to Lilith and everyone else who puts so much hard work into these things.

    Liberty's Edge

I second the vote of support for Liz. /singing/ For she's a jolly good filly, for she's a jolly good filly, for she's a jolly good fiiiiiillyyyyy... Which nobody can deny! /end singing/

Submitted a fiction piece set in Absalom: 1,500 words, bang on the nose.

    Liberty's Edge

    Sent my final submission off!

    Cheers to all!

    Submitted.

    Sovereign Court

Weal or Woe article submitted. Ended up having to cut about 400 words ... that was a painful experience.

    Yay, moah articles coming in!

ALL MUST SUBMIT TO ME! *cracks the whip*

Hey Hugo, do you have a contact e-mail? I may be looking for some contract art.

    Liberty's Edge Contributor

I submit, Lilith! Fiction, that is. 1499 words of it. ;)

Thanks so very much to Hugo and Lilith and everyone else involved for yet another great opportunity!

Ugh....take two. I wanted to share Howell at a level compatible with the rest of the party in the NPC Guide, so a bit of a rewrite was in order. Hard to do, when I haven't even SEEN the NPC Guide, yet.

DOH! Please forgive me, Mistress Lilith!

Forty-five article submissions! Nicely done everybody. :D

Now onto the bad news and a bit of finger-wagging...

    Who goes, who stays?
I need to consult with the 'frog for our print budget. Not all forty-five articles may make it in, just so's you know. As previously stated, there is a certain method to the madness...

But not hitting your word count is not a good way to stay at the top. If you're familiar at all with the way publishing works, you know that word count is often brought up, as exceeding word count can often kill the established page count and layout of the physical product.

    The reverse is also true.

If your article is short by X amount (where X in this case is 100 and up), the gap in the layout needs to be filled. By whom might you ask? The developers/editors, usually. The word counts are there for a reason people! :D

    *offers a conciliatory cookie*

Now, don't panic. Luckily we announced this with enough lead time that if your article is accepted, and if your article is short, you will be allowed THREE DAYS to fill in the shortage. If you don't get it back to me in time, you will be at the mercy of whoever is developing/editing your article. Or me. :P

*goes to talk with a frog*

[humour] Surely shorter articles mean more space for revenue raising adverts or for great artwork by The Eldritch Mr. Shiny, Crystal Frasier, Liz Courts, Butterfrog and crew? [/humour]
Apologies to those artists whose names I have not represented here. You're probably great too.

    Sovereign Court

Oh the waiting. The WAITING! ;)

Okay, I'll get to work now hammering out the rest of the word count.

You can help us inlcude MOAR articles into WF3...how? Donate! ;P

Now seriously, There may be enough time/people to make the issue big and why not, even a semi-hard cover like the APs if the pagecount goes abode 100, which its a really hard objective to reach but it would be AWESOME!, but the $ issue is just as large.

    Spoiler:

    Liberty's Edge

i will donate as last year... just need to recover a bit from unforetold expenses... Monte came calling one month prior to my memory :P

This had me worried but then I opened my articles up and discovered that my short fiction was exactly 1500 and my prestige was 1419.

that's pretty cool, couldn't have hit those marks unless I tried

Well I know I am guilty of one article being 119 words short of 1500, the other was within three words. BUT, if it is picked 100-119 words should not be a problem. ;)

Well, my short fiction was 1250 words, which falls nicely between 750 and 1500 words.

The way I was understanding the +-100 bit was if you're 100 words or so short of 750, or more than 100 words over 1500, that would be problematic. It wouldn't make sense for word counts within the stated limits to be an issue. Of course, that's just my interpretation of it, and could very well be wrong.

I hope my piece makes it in, but if it doesn't, I'll just try again another time.

I think we needed to hit one total or the other - I don't think it was a range

+/- 100 isn't the problem. It's +/- 200 or more that is. The 750/1500 wasn't a range, but looking back on my original post, I should have made this a bit clearer.

Awwwwww, crud. Yeah, I read it like it was a range, too. (hangs head in shame)

Well....luckily, I can easily come up with another 240 words. Why, it's like there's a whole thread of inspiration to draw from...... ;-)

    Hi there Lilith!

I think the question many of us needy and all around fragile creative types are wondering now is ... do you have any idea when the big What Made It In decision will be made?

    Thanks!

Soon. By next Tuesday, Wednesday at the latest.

Excellent. I know my submission is away, so I eagerly await hearing whether I made the cut or not.
