In fact, if you're reading this post, then you can thank imperialism.

Other 'bad words' that are not so bad--

-Profit Margin
-Commercialism
-Capitalism
-Self-reliance

To add to the list:

Rectal Exam
Gninja

To clarify what should not be on the list:

Impactful

Edit: Also, if that's a rant, you are a true zen master. Where's the bile! Where're are the provocative statements? I'll write you a good one for $10 if you want.

Like most things, taken to an extreme they're all bad; in moderation they're not so bad, or even good. It's not a binary thing ("Everything is either all good or all bad in all cases.")

Other 'bad words' that are actually awesome!!!

-Fried Chicken
-Triple Fried Chicken
-Fried Ice Cream
-Ice Cream-covered Fried Chicken
-Pork Rinds
-Troll

I'll take my imperialism sunny-side up, please!

That is a great rate! Take him up on it, that probably pays for like 5 minutes of legal work at his normal billable rate.

Triple Baconator is a bad word to my stomach that can no longer handle such capacitiy, but it doesn't sound bad to my brain. :P

As words go, no. As practices on a global scale? Not so much.

imperialism is fine unless you're the dirt farmer whos being imperialised.

Imperialism is a wonderful word. Does this mean that finally our once and former colonies are to return to their rightful place in the imperial bosom of Queen Elizabeth II?

Why would you farm dirt? Moisture farms are much more profitable so long as you can fend off the sand people. In fact, I've got some droids you might be interested in...

Oh wait...my mistake...these are not the droids you are looking for.

Dirt farmers hate roads and hospitals, I know: my family used to be dirt farmers. Also, we Celts hate linguistic imperialism, that's why we've gone about becoming some of the greatest writers in the English tongue.

I can say, without a doubt, imperialism is impactful.

I add Communism, Collectivism and sharing to the list.

I find imperialism quite suitable.

You may fire when ready.

The Exchange

Imperialism, as defined by the Dictionary of Human Geography, is “the creation and maintenance of an unequal economic, cultural and territorial relationship, usually between states and often in the form of an empire, based on domination and subordination.” Imperialism, in many ways, is described as a primarily western concept that employs “expansionist – capitalist – and latterly communist – systems."

I have to say yes, Imperialism is a bad thing. Sort of like peanut butter and marshmallow sandwiches.

"Terrorist Bastard burned it down! Thats what!" In reprisal, I'm having George Washington (Age 12) abducted and molested by frenchmen...over and over again for ever.

Chief Two Hawks would like to discuss the actual ownership of said farm with you. He has a few Basque fishermen who would like to make the acquaintence of your 12-year-old self...

[anitrant rant]Yah, and if I was not reading this post I could probably thank imperialism, too. My perspective is now totally changed, Andrew. Bravo! I'll try and remember to give a nod to imperialism next time I wipe my ass with toilet paper and flush my turd down into the sewers. And next time I'm nailing my wife, who comes from a colonized country, I'll make sure to remember Iimperialism.

Wow, I feel good now! Refreshed even. You have divested imperialism of its frequently associated dynamics (exploitation, injustice, racism... and so on) and I think it does indeed sound mighty fine. GO IMPERIALISM!

What the other terms have to do with imperialism I don't really know. Please do not explain, they seem fine to me, and anyway I doubt you can top the depth of your OP. Oh I get it! You trying to suggest that anyone who is concerned about consumerism must surely revile those terms.... No? Yes? Ok, next time I rant about the plastic crap filling up our landfills and oceans I'll blame it all on profit-margin and self reliance.[/antirant rant]

I'd also like to add assmosis to the good list please.

And please put this on the bad list: disambiguate.

And BTW I'll do it for 5$.

Sometimes you Buddhists really piss me off with all your moderate non-contradictory peace loving balance crap. I'll bet that now and then the Buddha really wanted to tell some people to f@&+ off.

=)

Smileys make it all better, am I right?

Smileys are the cure for all the world's ills. In moderation, of course.

The whole thread is a joke, including the OP. I think you're joking, too...

Anyway, to Kruelaid and anyone else:

I hope I didn't upset anyone with this thread. Sebastian got the joke right away, and I/Leeroy tried to inject some blatant absurdity in the fourth post and several subsequent ones.

Sorry, if I offended.

So I don't need to call out "Oh God, thank you imperialism!" while I'm nailing my wife?

I suppose, if you'd like to...

Grand Lodge

You don't NEED to, but it would be absolutely hilarious if you did. You might have to stop and explain however.

Thank you for disambiguating.

*THWACK*

I mean clarifying.

Andrew:

Spoiler:
When I read the OP it took me a few seconds to remember that you're not linguistically challenged (although you sure did push the ambiguity). The antirant was serious only insofar as people really have said s*!& like that to me--and I couldn't let the ambiguity hang out there without a good rip at it (and a little ambiguity of my own).

Usually, I use my name for serious posts, and an alias for jokes--I didn't realize that I had used my Galactica-actual until it was too late to change it.

At the time I posted this thread there were four other active threads on the front page which used all five 'bad words' I listed, and in obviously ridiculous ways --and those posters know who they are ;-)

Other than neglecting to have 'Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin' start this thread, the mistake I made was in forgetting this vital fact: humor is only well-made when it is likewise well-timed.

The Paizonians who immediately read the related posts in the other threads, and then read this one, got the joke. Anyone reading it now is probably scratching their head and wondering if I've lost mine.
