I think it would be interesting if in addition to the standard mount list there were mounts specific to each order. Part of this desire comes from the frustration of a lack of fantastical mounts for medium races (for some reason horses seem so mundane). If there were mounts for medium races I think it would solve a lot of the other concerns people have been posting about mounts as well. Horses don't do well in dungeons, but a warcat (order of the lion), giant frilled lizard (order of the dragon), or something along those lines may do a little better. Plus I think it would add an additional role playing nuances between the orders.
So to the questions:
1- is anyone else interested in something like this?
2- what are good ideas of order based mounts
3- would this create mechanical issues (ie everyone chooses order x because the have the coolest mount)

No love/interest in seeing any additional mounts for medium sized characters? It strikes me as strange at how many aquatic and small character mount options there are, and there are essentially two for medium characters (and I don't see many people charging into battle on their trusty camel). Oh well I guess I can hope that they throw in a couple new ones in the advanced players guide.

There are more options at higher level 7 if the cavaliers mount dies.
I hope there will be some rules of the interaction between mounts or animal companions and cohorts gained from the leadership score, maybe in the Advanced Players Guide, the Gamemastery Guide or Bestiary 2.
With such rules, you could use your cohort as your special mount. With the cohort rules in the Bestiary appendices, even a Young Silver Dragon would be possible (at level 20, of course)...

I would also like to see unique mounts for medium creatures not only for the cavalier but for the paladin as well... horses are very ordinary. Don't feel bad about people not responding... feedback has slowed on the cavalier and orcle. Everyone is busy on the summoner. Cavalier and Oracle apparently is yesterdays news. My friend and I posted some changes about the Oracle and thought it would a hot topic but 3 days later the Summoner was released... Think people got tired of some of the topics. Like 200 posts about what casting stat to use for the oracle. When in the end it was a lot of focus for something mundane.

I didn't just mean leadership. At level 7, you can get a large Roc as an animal companion, and it has more than enough strength to carry a rider. Of course, you would probably need a DM okay on that, or maybe they could mention it in the APG. If you are light, the dire bat could carry you as well, also at 7th level.

With the cohort rules in the Bestiary appendices, even a Young Silver Dragon would be possible (at level 20, of course)...
And possibly a young adult silver dragon at level 21 (don't know if Paizo will require someone to take a form of Epic Leadership feat from the Epic Level Handbook or something). ^_~
Personally though, I like Elk mounts. ^_^
Just wish they had included Elk mounts in the Core rules. ~_~

More variety would be nice, but the biggest thing I see with the mounts are: some are obviously better than others, keeping them to a usable size category hurts their stats so very much, and generally borrowing the animal companion progression (not all that well suited for a mount progression)
That being said, there's some obvious choices that are missing from the lists: pegasus, unicorn, griffon, etc...
