Belt or headband : ...after being worn for 24 hours ability bonus vanish.
The fighter wants two belts of giant force (+2 ; 2 x 4,000 gp),one worn by 24 hours .
Wizard wants two headbands of vast int , too.He want to create this four wondrous items.
The goal is to get "permanent bonus" (i know ioun stone) .
Is it possible? This items can function like this?
What do think about this ?
For me ,it's not "the spirit of the rules".
I want limited to one area of ability:
-strenght :to hit bonus or damage bonus or strenght checks
-Int : spell bonus or skillsbonus or increase the ST/SR of spell
Or my players are "on good path" .....and i say : "OK , go".

I'm not sure what you are asking. A Belt of Giant Force (+2 Str) is temporary for the first 24 hours, and then considered a 'permanent' bonus after that, until you take it off. For STR it doesn't make much difference, the temporary vs permanent is basically no difference.
A Headband of Vast Intellect works the same way, but, once the 24 hours is over with, the int bonus becomes 'Permanent' until the band is removed. That means they get 1 skill per +2 bonus (1 skill in your example) at Max Ranks. This skill is determined when the headband is made. Additionally, it will come with one language built into the headband which the character can then speak after 24 hours of wearing the headband. It's also picked at item creation. A wizard character doesn't gain any additional spells per day for the headband until he has worn it for 24 hours.
Taking it off after 24 hours to put on a different one would be the worse thing you could do, as it would then negate all the 'permanent' bonus's you would get for wearing it longer than 24.

I'm with mdt, I'm not sure what you're saying. After wearing an ability boosting item for 24 hours, it becomes "permanent" for all purposes except for Int which is handled slightly differently than if your int was actually increased (the item determines the skill granted and language granted). Otherwise the +2 str will make your character as if you had 2 strength higher for all intents and purposes: carrying capacity, weapon damage, melee weapon attacks, strength skills and checks, etc.

"Treat this as a temporary ability bonus for the first 24 hours the headband is worn."
I understand : After 24 hours the bonus vanish.
Sorry, that is not correct (see Jason's post above). What that means is after 24 hours the temporary bonus becomes a permanent bonus. IE: You only treat it as temporary for the first 24 hours. Then, after that, it's permanent until the item is taken off.
This is to keep people from switching headbands every 5 minutes to change their skills. You have to wear the headband for 24 hours before the bonus becomes permanent and you get the extra skills and languages.

OK ,thanks.
The bonus become permanent. It's better than tome or manual....but it can be stolen..Sorry for my mistake.
No problem at all, but, I would say the tome or manual is much better. Can't be stolen, is permanent, and if you boost Intelligence you get to pick what skills and languages you gain (the headbands are fixed).

The item is MUCH cheaper than the Tome.
Tome will stack with Bull strength, item will not. Tome and Item can be used together. And finally if you qualify for a feat or a prestige class due to an item, and you loose the item.... Well you loose access to the feat and most of the abilities of the pretige class.

I think what the OP might be getting at is his players are trying to get a double bonus by claiming that the ability bonuses change type after 24 hours (from temporary ability bonus to permanent ability bonus) and therefore can be stacked (aside from the fact that you can't wear two belts). I could be wrong, but I've seen stranger interpretations before.

Actually if you look 5-6 posts up, you'll see he thought they were temporary for 24 hours and then vanished. So the players were wanting two so they could switch out every 24 hours and keep the bonus's 24/7.

A Tome is much more flexible. You might find a Headband that has a skill that you already know (and it doesn't stack), or a Skill that isn't exactly what you want.
And of course, the effects of a headband can be temporary dispelled.. which would prompt you to reattune it, or as you said, it can be stolen.

My players want to increase ability only :
-strenght , better to hit and damage bonus
-int , increased target number (ST/SR) to resist and bonus spell.
The wizard (lvl 13) wants to create this items. It's much cheaper than tome or manual , 2,000gp (+2) vs 52,500 or 8,000 vs 105,000 , and he isn't get the level.
The spells used to create headband do not enhance bonus spell ,but headband does that after 24 hours ,it's wonderfull for spell caster !

So now ,new questions :
Temporary ability bonus enhance the bonus spell ,yes or no ?
Personally, I wouldn't allow it as you'd need to be wearing the headband when you prepared the spell. By that point, it's likely to be a permanent bonus. If not, it becomes too much hassle.
When this bonus become permanent bonus ,what's the bonus spell become ?
Whatever the player wants it to be, as long as it's of the right level. The Headband does not determine what the spell is as what level the new bonus spell applies to depends on the existing intelligence of the character.
The spells used to create headband do not enhance bonus spell.
They don't. The Headband only does what the Headband description says it does, even if the spell used to create it has different abilities.
