Umm, any information on those two other counties of Ustalav yet, Wes? ;)
Still waiting for Paizo to open a European office... the 'must live locally' stipulation in the job descriptions is a bit of a problem for those of us who live outside the US.

What? I totally moved from Maryland to do this exact same job and that's like THREE TIMES as far away as Narnia - or wherever you moonfolk in made-up Britanland say you come from.

What about applications from Pellucidar?
Being At the Earth's Core means that strictly, you're always zero miles away from any surface location, when viewed from above.

Is this for real?! Something we can do outside of Seattle?

Hmm. Well if you had relocated from any other US state to Washington, I would have pointed out that there were relatively few travel documents needed to make such a move, but given the 'Cookie Nutters' incident back in the 1970's, I suppose that they still required you to pay $200 'for passing go', fill in a hundred page form in triplicate, and attend five interviews with Anne Robinson before clearing you to move from Maryland to Seattle - which does rather make the nightmarish process of applying for a British passport these days seem trivial by comparison... ;)

is Olympia local enough, or is this just focused on the greater Seattle area?
The job's an in-office job, no telecommuting involved. So you basically have to be able to get into the office to work regularly. We've got folks living as far away from the office as Burien, Renton, and North Bend, and that commute is pretty lengthy (30 minutes on a good day, over an hour on a bad one).
According to my iPhone (which has answers to most everything that needs answers), it's about 72.3 miles from Olympia to Paizo. Which is a (one way) 2 hour and 13 minute commute. So if you can bear being on the road for 4–5 hours a day and still put in an 8-hour work day, then Olympia is local enough. It wouldn't be local enough for me, I tell you what. Although I WOULD get a lot of Audible.com quality time in on the drive...

I'd be more than happy to do stuff part time, remotely from Michigan.
Give me stuff to edit and I'd probably even do it for free, though it looks like you are looking for full-time dudes who will work "in-house". Seems like in this modern age you could farm editing work out to anyone anywhere but who knows. For some reason companies like to have all their people in the same physical location. Seems like it really restricts the talent pool to a really small subset of people.
So, in summary, I'd love to help in anyway, so long as I could do it...
1) from Michigan, and
2) after 6pm eastern time, as I already have a well paying job with a bank.
:)

Well, I ask this not only because of these postings, but for the Customer Service rep posting, which I feel I actually stand a chance of qualifying for, lol. Yeah, it's a long trip, but it's to work for Paizo, so...I could bear it, at least until I could move into the area.

I just sent you guys my resume. I have 10 years experience in warehousing, including being liscenced to drive a forklift; and you would not believe the amount of customer service work a teacher has to do. Plus, I am the biggest Pathfinder booster out there.

Damn you Paizo! All I ask, all I humbly request, is a simple job offer along my line of skills. Just once, can't you offer a position for a Mechanical Engineer with specialities in compressed air, steam, piping, & valves? Hell, at this point, I think I'd be willing to accept a "lurk in the basement and terrorize people" position!
It's the zombie thing, isn't it? Lisa has something against the heart-beat challenged.

Well, huh. I've always wanted a degree in English but never really had any idea how to put one to use.
Now as I see that opening for editorial assistant, I really wish I had a degree in English. I also wish that I lived local to Paizo, but that would be easier to fulfill than the lack of the degree requirement.
| Todd Stewart Contributor |
Hmmm. In Highschool I got a C in English Lit, a D in American Lit, and the wonderful NC school system stopped teaching me grammar in 4th grade. Yeah, don't have an English degree or anything remotely close here...
When you open up a position for a mad scientist and move the Paizo office to RTP here in NC, lemme know. ;)

I'd love to work for you guys, especially since I have been unemployed for the last 3 years. I am a QC/proofreader by trade, and I've got incredible references. Unfort, my wife has a 6 figure job where we are, and moving is out of the question.
It's too bad you guys haven't gotten with the program and started letting folks telecommute. Most of the kinds of work an editor job would entail could easily be done via the internet. I've got InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and complete Microsoft Suite. Think about it. I'll send you a resume if you ever decide to accept non-local workforce!

A serious question, though. How soon will those who do send in a resume be able to hear back about it?
We want and need to fill these positions fast. Depending on how many applications we get and how soon they fill up... I'm hoping to get some resolution as soon as possible. Within a month would be BOSS.

I'm not sure what that "program" would be... but we already DO basically use telecommuting for designers and artists, and that's got a host of problems of its own. More to the point, the whole point of having an office job is to create an environment where we can all inspire and build upon each other's skills and work. And in the fast-paced publishing world, knowing someone is in the same building and that you can give them a job by hand and they'll start working on it immediately and will be there to communicate as needed is still worlds better than trusting time-sensitive projects to email time delays. And also, a lot of the stuff we do is with valuable intellectual property and we're not 100% comfortable letting it go all over the internet, even if it is to a theoretically small pool of telecommuters.
Put simply, the real-world realities of publishing make telecommuting a non-option for these positions.

Sweet. Well, best of luck filling the spots.

I'm hoping my usual luck turns around, too
