Well, dinner was yummy. And the power is still on. These are good things at least. I made black beans and rice. Always a favorite. It's one of my too lazy to cook properly stand-bys.

Spoiler:

Black Beans and Rice
can of black beans
can of diced tomatoes
box of minute rice brown rice
package of andouille sausage
bouillon
chili powder
cumin
garlic
cinnamon

Dice the sausage into bite size chunks. Bring 3 cups water to a boil in a large saucepan. Stir in 3 tsp (or cubes) bouillon, 2 T chili powder, 1 T cumin, 1/2 tsp garlic, 1 tsp cinnamon. Dump in the beans, tomatoes, rice, and sausage. Stir. Cover and simmer for five minutes. Uncover and stir. If it looks runny cook it uncovered for about five minutes. Turn off heat, cover and leave five minutes. Stir and serve.

All measurements are approximated. I just throw in what looks like the right amount.

Mmmm.... black beans and rice.

I'd share my black beans and rice, but it just doesn't fit through the computer screen. :)

We were told not to talk about other threads, so we came up with that nickname to make it easier for people to vent. If you'd read about 70 pages ago, you would have caught it. :)

And I'd have a broken monitor if I actually think it could work! :)

The reality is that I'm spoiled because she usually cooks. She rarely, if ever, let me cook. I'm like a mad scientist in the kitchen as I never make the same thing twice -- on purpose. She says I mix things that no deity ever intended to ever be mixed together.

I like to think I'm sabotaging the meal in order to not have to cook at all, but in reality I'm just not that clever.

But I understand the situation as I went through it two years ago myself. It is life changing, to say the least.

It's nice to actually post from home for a change w/o having boss mode on when doing so from work. Ahhh.... No big brother.

Ya know, I spent several hours going over a gabzilgooglion pages dating from Dec 1st where I last booked marked to get caught up for today. I may have missed something. What sucks is that I can't look at FB pictures or see what you guys are linking from YT. I'm lucky I can at least get to see

Reminds me of a time back in grade school where I thought I was talented because I could shove an entire McD's cheeseburger into my mouth. A class mate replied "That's nuttin', I can shove a pair of White Castles up my nose!"

Nowadays, you couldn't pay me to touch a McD burger.

Ugh. I told my woman that I may finally get off my arse and create a FB account. "Why on earth are you going to do that?" "Coupons, babe. Coupons". If I tell her what I'm really up to, she'll start on a humorous rant about my geek-love for goblins & indians (that's what she calls it).

If don't mind me asking, how did it get attention of the WotC?

[troll]Of course WoTC likes it, because they can use it to force people to stop liking other game systems and only buy their piece of crap I'm-not-even-going-to-call-it-D&D.[/troll]

Stephen Radney-Macfarland became a member. He works for WoTC. There are several people on his friend list who have joined up so I'm guessing he found it that way.

I'm ambivalent about what others play as long as they're enjoying it and that's all that matters to me.

OK.

The edition flame wars died a while back at WotC but hot spots occasionally rekindle every now and then.

Presents bought, some anyway, all the little things gotten, wreath hung, and tree is up but not decorated.... the best part, the guys at the church where we went to buy the tree thought Riley was so cute they gave us the tree. Wouldn't take my money no matter how much I tried. So I'm sending Solnes out to buy a tree for her broke friend tomorrow. :)

I actually started it because of a flare up here a few days back.

Same here. I would never presume to think that I know what other people should play.

One of the reasons I used to enjoy going to conventions was so I could learn new games.

Send the kidlet back out with her as her twin sister. Lightning could strike twice.

I ... have never ... been to ... a convention.

[/Kirk]

Origins occur here every year and GenCon's three hours away. Maybe I lack motivation.

taig wrote:

I would. I want people to play a lot more fantasy miniature games in the same scale as we use. If minis are mass produced in large enough numbers, would the price of plastic miniatures be driven down to more of what little plastic toys should be priced?

Oh, did I mention I got some minis I was missing today? Including the Drow Demonbinder and the Rakshasa Assassin. Thank you, Borders. Borders Bucks for the win!

Riley will be with his mommy, but I figure it was money we were going to spend on a tree anyway. So we'll just spend the same money on someone else. I love Christmas time. :)

Me too, Mr. Scrooge, me too.

Ever since I taught 8th grade English Lit, I have been on a mission to change the way people use the name

Scrooge:

Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more; and to Tiny Tim, who did not die, he was a second father. He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world. Some people laughed to see the alteration in him, but he let them laugh, and little heeded them; for he was wise enough to know that nothing ever happened on this globe, for good, at which some people did not have their fill of laughter in the outset; and knowing that such as these would be blind anyway, he thought it quite as well that they should wrinkle up their eyes in grins, as have the malady in less attractive forms. His own heart laughed: and that was quite enough for him.

He had no further intercourse with Spirits, but lived upon the Total Abstinence Principle, ever afterwards; and it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us!
